  1. Have any of you who believe the boys are innocent and support their cause considered going to the court cases to show them your support in person? I realize that most of you are not in Samui, but I just wondered if anybody who is here had thought about it.

i've just given money to link i posted earlier that helps fund the legal team representing them and pays for the boys family to come over be near them. best i can do.

friends on Koh Pha Ngan regulary go over and bring food, bedding etc.

they are getting a lot of support.

  2. Maybe insensitive, but the fact remains, two more innocent lives may be lost.

I believe the parents of both victims know the contents of the British Police report.

Time to act and prevent a miscarriage of justice.

David and Hanna are gone, please don't let these bastards take another two lives.

I have said it often and say it again: The silence over this coming from Hannah's and David's parents make me sick! They are the only ones who could turn this case around and make sure that the real murderers are being put to justice.

I have no idea why you have made this insensitive and ridiculously naive and stupid statement.

    1. The family are polite, law-abiding people dealing with a grieving process.

    2. They will have been advised by the UK govt, UK police, etc. to make no public statements.

    3. Thailand has a very strong record of ignoring and becoming stubborn in the face of foreign pressure. What would any statement from the family do here?

    4. Later on, after the trial and the inquest, you may hear more from them.

See Kirsty Jones case for comparison.

last weekend i met a couple who live in KT

they said the victims families have hired private investigators which i'd not heard before

if this is true they are probably biding their time and waiting for the outcome of court case, maybe advised by the UK gvrnmnt

aside from dealing with the grief of losing their children one cannot imagine how they're being affected by the almost daily reports and constant bungling and inappropriate actions and comments by certain organisations/people in power. words can not describe how i would be feeling as a family friend or member

they are waiting as we are, anyone outside of Thailand are powerless to intervene or help the B2, only by sending money to help fund those who are trying to save them

  3. just seen this on FB

"FYI... Another attempted shakedown by the infamous "little & large" RTP whilst filling up at Asoke petrol station @12:15. They demanded 5k as I didn't have a number plate (completely legal but new bike). Didn't ask for my passport or attempt to search me, but got very shouty when I continually refused to provide the piss test they sought. I showed my Thai drivers license & eventually had to play my trump card to leave. 10 mins later I drove past them searching a farang couple on Soi 31."

  4. i was in Khao San Road a week ago and spoke to an English lad who was mugged the night before at the Burger King end, he lives in Cambodia and has been to Bangkok many times and has never had anything like this happen to him here

he said the attack took place at around 5am, he was on the floor getting attacked by 3-4 men and was saved by a local Thai women who intervened, his attacker got away with his wallet. he was covered in cuts and bruises. he said if it wasn't for the Thai girl he would've been in serious trouble

by the sounds of it these people are preying on vulnerable people (girls or drunk men) in the area in the early hours

    please stay safe people

  5. for ages it seems TAT wants middle-class tourists coming for 2 weeks, paying 1,000 Baht a night in hotels, travelling on expensive private mini-buses.

unfortunately these people get scared/cancel easily at the news of military coups, medieval/barbaric murders and all the other problems perfectly solvable, yet unsolved, and documented via the internet

the irony is the old school travelers would have come regardless, now they're in Cambodia, Myramar, Vietnam, South America

as you say.....up to you, Thailand...

  6. Hello i'm looking at renting a place for the first time in Bangkok, i'm looking at low-cost budget rent, i have been warned to watch out for the low rent deal that have higher electricity/water bills

i'm going to view a place tomorrow that charges 7 baht per unit for electricity and and 17 b.p.u. for water

is this a good price or should it be cheaper?

    thanks in advance :)

  7. I don't think the thai police have the brains to play this game with the British. They will shoot themselves in the foot with every answer they give, every excuse/piece of evidence they produce & they won't even know they've done it until the British inquest is complete.

    i totally agree

even though the British police's role will be limited to observing they will smell a rat should there be one

one thing i have learnt about people out here is they are terrible at lying/hiding things, and hilariously they think they're good at it.

nothing hilarious about this case and the way it's been handled

  8. hi i got a new passport the same day i arrived back to UK

simply call the passport office (for new passports) to arrange an appointment and ask for premium same-day service, i think it's a 4-5 hour wait from when you submit the forms

i have to say considering the problems they're meant to be having the passport office were incredibly friendly/helpful when i visited them last Friday:

i'd booked an appointment for 3pm to allow sufficient time as my flight arrived in at 10am

on arrival at Heathrow i went straight to the passport office (arriving around 12pm)to get the form to fill out.. i told the advisor i'd just come from Thailand, he told me to fill out the form straight away to get an earlier appointment which he did, everything was done/sent off around 1-2pm, i collected my passport around 6.45pm.

like many others i was told i'd have to pre-book an appointment 3 weeks in advance, this is now not so.

i got the bigger passport + premium service = 137UKP.

call them and book your appointment ASAP ;)

  9. Wish all the questions were as easily answered.

Well, one prior visa sure is not going to hurt you...apparently. Curious what made you wonder why. Perhaps your prior passport was full of in and outs?

There are a few people that claim a new passport erases all prior traces/history of border running/warning stamps, etc. Just wondering if that was true.

about 8 border stamps (mostly not all together) and 1 tourist visa over the last 2 years, i have a new passport but i did wonder if this history will come up and what would happen if my new pp is swiped going through immigration

the visa form states i have to list my last 3 visits so i'm guessing i'll be asked when i apply at the embassy in London

i'm sure i saw another post/thread on here RE. someone with lots of border-runs/over-stays getting a new passport and coming straight back in?
