  1. If you're returning on the same visa/extension of stay to the same address, Chiang Mai Immigration does not require a new TM30 under the changes made in 2020. Before that, they did. I file my 90 days reports in person every time and I have confirmed, in person at Chiang Mai Immigration, that I don't need to file a new TM30 everytime I leave the country, which last year at least was three times. And they check the TM30 everytime I file a 90-day report and there has never been a problem.
  2. You don't need to refile at TM30 in Chiang Mai after travel, either domestically or internationally.
  3. Mae Sot is in Tak, not Mae Hong Son. And the lake with paddle boats you're thinking of might be Ban Rak Thai in Mae Hong Son - not Muslims but ethnic Chinese.
  4. Came to the comments with the same question - I've never seen one in more than a decade in Thailand and my understanding is that they've long been illegal anyway.
  5. It has been canceled for the next two years - here's the official announcement.
  6. For one to month stays, look for a serviced apartment or residence. Somewhere like Smith Residence starts at around 7,000 baht/mth for a standard room.
  7. The way I read the news, it was for immigrant workers from neighboring countries, not regular WP holders. And besides, digital WP already exists for some - I've never had a paper WP despite having a WP for nearly 8 years.
  8. They already have - a lot of their branches in Chiang Mai have been closed and as a consequence, it can take more than an hour to talk to someone when you visit a still open branch, now.
  9. No hospital in Chiang Mai that has that name,
  10. It hasn't been reclassified as a narcotic - enough with the fake news Aseannow.
  11. Can you not use Google? Type "Tops Chiang Mai" for answers.
  12. After 5 p.m., the rooftop bars at Maya are nice. Before 5 p.m., the trick will be to find somewhere selling alcohol - most places around the area don't sell during the 2-5 p.m. banned time.
  13. No it doesn't at all - it occasionally tops a list from IQAir titled "Live most polluted major city ranking" that only has 124 cities on it, only Chiang Mai and Bangkok in Thailand and excludes hundreds of places in China, India and elsewhere that are constantly higher and worse. And Chiang Mai isn't even the most polluted place in Thailand, let alone the world. https://www.iqair.com/world-air-quality-ranking
  14. The woke former National Park employee is going to have a meltdown.
  15. Given that Thailand doesn't do same-sex civil unions, I'd love to know how you got one. What you likely did do, however, is get married - proper, full marriage, which is what is legal in Thailand for same-sex couples.
  16. Will the last District Chief please turn off the light.
  17. There are no Wins in Chiang Mai because the Lanna Coop songthaew mafia stopped them from entering the market for the last few decades.
  18. The problem with the article isn't that tourists are charged more; it's that people living and working in Thailand and paying taxes have to pay up to 900% more. Try charging a Thai living in a Western country who is paying income tax and who has the local equivalent of Social Security 900% more to enter a park - all hell would break loose, and you'd never hear the end of how racist and discriminatory it was.
  19. "the flood situation in the northern region, specifically in the provinces of Sukhothai, Chai Nat, and Nakhon Sawan." Time to study a map.
  20. The roads around the moat and old city are in poor repair due to the underground lines project and the need to constantly dig new holes to put lines underground. The first phase finishes later this year and the rest next year - once finished, road resurfacing has been promised.
  21. Work permits issued in conjunction with a Non-B (BOI) visa are two years.
  22. No, it's not - it's tied to the husband's extension of stay, not the visa.
  23. Here is today's weather warning areas - how do you get to 30 provinces?
  24. Just remember - diversity is a strength, the media keeps telling us so.
