Correct, 14 days home quarantine although at the moment it only applies to people coming to Chiang Mai from Bangkok. Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan and Nakhon Pathom.

ROFL.
The air rating is green as I'm typing this.

The Thai post you link to says nothing about officials being involved in the election and even using basic logic, why would they be?

This isn't rocket science - Chiang Mai has far higher excise returns because CM is bigger. The population of the whole of Lamphun Province is under half of that of just the Chiang Mai metro area.

Given how regularly their ATMs are out of order this is a good thing.

Big C Extra 2 on the Superhighway, there's a guy who does keys off the underground carpark. I think I paid about 2-3k for a Nissan key to be done.

Normally it's foreigners being banned - is this opposites day?

While you may not be keen to buy a car it is the easiest solution by far. The roadworks on the Superhighway finished last year and it's an easy drive if you're coming from the Lamphun Industrial Park.
While still being in Chiang Mai I live further out than where Lamphun starts and without a car the options are highly limited. A car gives you the freedom to go when and where you please.

I think they're literally insane at this point - the TMD issued weather warnings from February 28 through to March 3 warning of storms through to March 4.
OK, so the warnings were not through to March 13 but how can they say they never warned of storms at all from a period starting March 2 when they did?

No special requirements coming to CM.
You also don't need to refile a TM30 on your return - the rules changed June last year. I'd link to a news article but the site is banned here.- 1

Every red light and speed offense I've managed to get in Chiang Mai included a photo - what's the problem here?

Would depend on the Immigration office - they should be able to pull it out of the computer system.

Reduced? I think the term you are looking for in none at all. You can fly to DMK or BKK at this time and that's it, all the other direct flights were canceled due to the last corona outbreak. None of the airlines have announced the reintroduction of flights elsewhere yet although they will likely start appearing in the next few weeks.

Burning always seriously starts last week or two of February when the weather starts to change. The number of daily fires in the province has gone from 10-20 to 150+ in the last week and the smog is up as a consequence but it's just the start. Wait until we get closer to 1,000 fires a day in March.

Was there last week and had lunch at Wine Connection and dropped into Rimping.
While it is quiet on weekdays I'd suggest those who think it's dead try going on weekends or weeknights - weekends in particular it can get busy particularly if they've got some sort of promotion on.- 2

Given that Dhara Dhevi is sadly no longer the next best is the Four Seasons.

Barber
in Chiang Mai
The relative part is where in Chiang Mai.
Very happy to recommend my local - CJ Haircuts in San Ma Meng on the 118, 100 baht for a cut and the woman who runs it speaks near perfect English but if you live in town I can recommend a few other places as well.- 1

Can't help you with the golf side but restaurants are allowed to serve alcohol to 10 p.m., that includes pubs that serve food as well. Pure bars remain closed with the current ban in place until the end of the month. Chiang Mai is 13 days now with no new corona cases, unless there's a new breakout the ban should be lifted as currently scheduled.
Air quality is about average for this time of year - not terrible, not good. Worse in the morning but it gets better as the day progresses as the mornings are still fairly cool and the smog gets caught in with the fog/mist. Most days no where near what Bangkok and central Thailand is experiencing. That will come towards the end of February into March though as it always does.

of course, in Thai areas and nieghborhoods and villages, pretty much business as usual.
Absolutely this. It's dead in town but get out past the Superhighway and nothing has changed.

Cold morning temps are fairly normal this time of year in the north, it's the low temps during the day that is notable.

TAT doesn't regularly update its information. The ban on alcohol was announced Thursday.

Logic doesn't apply here.
Who owns the malls? that's the real variable here.- 2

Must be my imagination that all the bars in Chiang Mai are closed for the next 14 days.

Permitted locality of work removed from digital work permits
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

I've had a digital work permit for over three years - where was the permitted locality of work section? The closest I can find is conditions and then it says none.
