  1. Hi Folks,

I've just been looking at the possibility of dental implants, or at least one at the back. I thought the prices of these had shot down in recent years. Alas, they still seem to be hovering around the 75,000 Baht mark. I know it's important not to skimp on health-related matters. But is this price average or am I just running into medical tourism fees when I search on Google?

    Any advice much appreciated.

Check out Elite at Phantip Plaza, they are very professional.
    I think implant about 46000.

  2. The issue here is how does one reduce the tragic road toll in Thailand.

Only by education ,combined with firm deterrent.

Unfortunately a large percentage of the community are very poor. Relying on transportation in the back of utes, which as we know is so dangerous.

Seems almost a culture thing that scooter riders just pull out onto a main road without thinking of looking right!

So until there is a united consensus re change, sadly little will in fact change.

  3. Frankly this is so easy to sort ,if they had the gonads to take the bull by the horns.

Yes nationwide 1000 baht fine for no helmet.

Anyone taking a pic from camera ,or dashcam ,showing overtaking on double yellow lines is rewarded by police ,with 5000 baht reward. Perpetrator 10,000 baht fine and points off license .

Why no spot checks for vehicles, checking roadworthiness and drivers license.

Make more sense than hounding farang tourist with passenger footrest down on scooter while solo riding!

You guys who live near Pop rentals are so lucky, you get to test ride all the main player scooters!
Your Xmax 300 post-ride observations match other reviewers and posters, especially your point about the braking. Absolutely no one has made this kind of observation about the Nmax 155, just the opposite. What do you think needs to be added /done to the Xmax to bring its braking up to the renown stopping quality of the Nmax 155?
Riders less than 5ft 8in tall have the option of getting those tall platform/heel rider boots.

Well I was wearing about 1.5 inch built up boots, still like a ballerina!
Plus seat though comfortable is very wide, so legs are splayed.

How to fix the brakes? Braided lines may help, but ideally should have twin discs as per SYM maxi 400i
Now that is a fantastic scooter, sadly not well supported here.
    Even got span adjustable levers!
    Great power, great brakes.

Oh forgot to mention , great instruments on X Max.

  5. Just hired a Yamaha X Max from Pops in CNX ,with 2 km on the clock.

Very comfortable, great mirrors, smooth and quiet.

    Good power.

Impresive bike , BUT  brakes mushy, no real bite.

Yes a brand new bike and not totally bedded in.

Howevever for a huge number of people ,that are less than  5 ft 8 ins tall, this bike is going to be a challenge, with wide seating and high ride height, a bit like like riding a horse!

  6. Again a very emotive subject!
What one is looking for ,is a spike in PSA levels, or a 'doubling' as the urologists say.
Critical if there is a spike , is to find the cause , which can be a big inflammation of the gland or it could be the start of cancer.
Yes biopsy does have risks and is bloody unpleasant ,unless you have a G/A! But critical again to catch this early.
A very successful treatment is Cyberknife, google ,and go to their forum.
Very informative. Every case is different, as is the result, every Dr or Urologist will 'push a barrow'!!!
Generally if caught early ,therefore requiring lower dose radiation, Cyberknife will be better at retaining normal body function.
However if high PSA and more than a T1 tumor, with a high Gleason score there can be issues with radiation damage to the urethra, causing a stricture.
Sorry this is a ramble, but one needs to be informed.
My PSA 12, T1 tumor , Gleason 8, which means very aggressive cancer.
After Cyberknife my PSA now 0.9, have has issues with urethral stricture.
    But all body functions 100%.
Chairman of my local prostate cancer support group ,had the DaVinci robotic procedure, poor guy has not had an erection since!
Plus with surgery you do end up with a reduced length penis.
One can only do research and be guided by gut feelings.
Diet is critical, together with detox.
But catch this early in its infancy, and one has every chance of retaining quality of life.

  7. Whilst a PSA test in itself is not conclusive.
The fact of the matter is; with prostate cancer , there are no symptoms ,until it is way too late.
So a PSA tracking up ,indicates there could well be an issue! Yes biopsy is not pleasant, and has risks.
But they can be minimized, another option is an MRI, but this won't give a 'Gleason' score.

  8. I would as a prostate cancer sufferer ,and having had a PSA of 12 ,with a Gleason score of 8, indicating aggressive cancer, say PSA screening is absolutely critical.
But also critical , is to detox the body and boost the immune system.
Just doing 'watchful waiting' without immune support is wasting valuable time.
Critical to catch this early, whilst in the 'capsule'.
For sure the only way to check the cancer , and rate it's aggressiveness , is a biopsy.
Sadly very few treatments ,leave men without unsavory side effects.
    Those interested 'Google Cyberknife'.
Again caught early, without the need for large doses of radiation, this can leave the body functioning 100%.

  10. Thoroughly recommend using A380 aircraft. 777 noisy and cramped.
Be aware some UK car rental companies require Thai international driving license.
Booked 1 series BMW 16 days, July 345 pds, they allow 70 year old driver. Note much cheaper if you are ok with a manual car!
Sheridan LHR good rates and that's where you pick up the car.
Many do not hire to over 65's.

Malaysian offer great fares ex BKK ,then do the airport night stop.
No need to go through immigration etc. About a 9 am dep the next day.

Can be a minefield at this age, good that you are getting great advice.
    Pm me for more info.
    Cheers
