I went to the Land Transport Office across the Hang Dong road
Well no surprise it was so fast you went to a DLT at the other end of the country " out in the sticks"
The DLT for Pattaya near the Regents school is always very busy and that's where it took @Tomahawk21 a long time.

You can clearly see the road ahead and unmistakably there is no stop sign.
Well where is the stop sign for the pickup driver ? we can see the line but no stop sign.
then again if this is a T junction then of course you are correct ....its not clear to me from the video if its a T or + roads.

You can see the main road and there is no 'stop line/sign' on that road before the junction
In my opinion the video doesn't show enough of the Fortuna drivers road to say there is no stop sign or line.

Do you have any examples of where traffic coming from the right has the right of way? (Yes, I know roundabouts may be a special case.)
It makes perfect sense that traffic from your right has right of way ( or in other words you give way to it) because that is the traffic that you will first encounter and be merging with..there should not ( but sometimes is in Thailand) be traffic on your side of the road coming from the left...if you follow a give way to the left theory then anyone can just turn left ( pull out from side roads) without looking because the person to your right has to see you and stop.

Maybe they both thought they where on the major road ?..they look about the same width in the video
yes we can clearly see that one driver (pickup) had a stop line..maybe there is a stop line for the other ( Fortuna) driver too we cant see that in the video so who's to say which is the major road.

The vehicle going straight on had right of way
They where both going straight on in their own perspectives...????

If you are in Jomtien ?
you could ask here..very nearby they seem to do crash repairs maybe able to point you in the right direction.
There is (was) another place in North Pattaya along the 36 motorway somewhere near here they used to have a cut in half car body by the side of the road..(seems to be the Thai beakers yard symbol)

don't bomb your house just to kill a cockroach.
AKA don't reinstall the operating system just because one (Thaivisa) website has some crazy non responsive scripts.
I'm using Firefox ( Win XP Pro )
and find that only having 2 Thaivisa tabs open at a time considerably lessons the chance of system lockups !

Which aren't legal? ones with leopard skin seats?
They can be legal if ( as far as I know) the bike and sidecar are registered at the Department of Land transportation
( so in the green book) as a motorcycle with sidecar pair from new..you can't add a sidecar to an already registered bike.
The leopard skin seat is especially apt for Pattaya where the photo was taken ????

In this particular case there was a bloody great visible white line on the road the pick-up was driving.
In lots of other cases the lines where never painted, are faded, covered in dirt/sand, or "shadowed" by other road fixtures and very hard to see...anyway according to some you "give way to the left" in Thailand and so the pickup driver would have had priority or rather maybe thought he should have priority ( damn the white line) and the Fortuner should have given way to pickup because pickup was coming from the left ( confused yet) .... as we see in the video both "assumed" they didn't need to stop...but if the pickup had adopted the simple "rule" of "give way to the right" the "accident" wouldn't have happened.
The Fortuner driver had no way of knowing that pickup driver has a white line or stop sign he has to "assume" that as there are no lines or stop sign on his road then he can drive straight on and that other road users follow the simple "rule" give way to the right...other wise no progress can be made on the road everyone stopping at every junction if you followed the "give way to the left" idea.

He is 14 years old and should not be riding on the public roads in the first place !
15 is the minimum age for a bike licence and then not more than 100cc engine.

The white strip is there for a reason.
At many many junctions the white strip is hardly visible and there are no give way signs..so I always "give way to the right"
even if (disputably ) Thai traffic law says to give way to the left at junctions with "equal priority" with the very poor maintenance of signage " always give way to the right" is the safest option.

Here is a timely video in the news today as to why you give way to the right

An "MD" as we are not allowed to use the full lenght name.

So you're saying 'no traffic can come from the left on an intersection unless driving against traffic', all based on 'it is not the first lane'.
The traffic coming from the left will be on the "other side of the road" ie they would have to cross the dividing line to make a right hand turn, they will wait for the traffic on their right before crossing the dividing line..the person turning left does not wait for the person on the other side of the road..and if you are turning right then you have to wait for traffic on the right firstly as that is the nearest traffic to you then yes you also have to wait for traffic coming from the left...but not before the traffic from the right ie give way to the right.
30 minutes ago, stevenl said:now you're saying 'if I drive away from a parking spot do I have right of way because I come from the left?'
No that's what you are saying isn't it ? give way to the left..whereas I'm saying give way to the right.
