  1. Been there a few times and stayed for two months the last time. I hear you, the book Timmer suggested looked to be just about bar girls and the like.

Buying Land? I thought you couldn't buy land there? Is there something I've missed. I think I'm being sadly awakened to the fact that greed has taken over there.

I have some friends from here that want to have a small little business/comunnity we can put together. Nothing big, very small and no one is trying to make a lot of money. Just enough to get us by. I'd still come to the states to work. We know some families that have land and what not, but the Thais are so quick to say, "You can have buy this land and build a bungalow", that the red flags go flying up.That's why I'm looking for people that are on Phangan and Samui to talk with and meet.

  2. Coming from Florida I can tell you that living in a vacation spot is going to bring out the bad in the bad boy. Everyday you have a new person flying into town to party. It works the same for the women. I had a ton of girlfriends that would be on prowl looking for guys to hook up with on vacation. They didn't tend to sleep with them, but they got taken out to dinner, party, whatever for a week and the guy would take off home and it was on to the next boy.
  3. Thanks for the suggestion. Where are you? My trust level is slipping and I'm sure the book is going to be full of interesting stories. This is one of the reasons, I'm trying to met and get to know more westerners that are over there. I'm American and many of the Thais seem to think that money is really easy to come by here and that we're all living the life of movie stars. I live in California that doesn't help.
  4. Thanks for the replies.

What I'm hoping to do though is get some dialog with some people that live in the Gulf on the Islands or Hua Hin area.

How you've managed to move there and advice for someone who is trying to do the same. I have Thai friends that have property and are talking about long term leases for building a house. I'd like to partner up with some folks and invest in an existing bussiness. I don't want to add to the building of new bussinesses. Any stories of people that are not retired working that type of thing out. Forming of corperations and the like. Law firms that you trust.

I'm looking at Phangan, but anyone on Samui or Koh Tao that has something to share, I'd love to hear from you. Or if you know of anyone not on this list to e-mail and than maybe meet when I go back.

As I said before this is a long time out, but I'd like to meet some more Farang that are there.

  5. Hi all I'm new to the forum and happy to see the girls page. I'm in the states now, but will be back in the winter if all goes well. After spending much time on Phangan and Samui and keeping myself pretty close to only the Thai people I'm feeling that it would be wise to make friends with the Farangs that live and work there.

I'm hoping to pack everything up in the next 5 years and make Thailand my home.

I'm looking for a Dermatologist on Samui if anyone can get me a phone number that would be great. They would have to be a surgeon as I may need to have skin cancer removed.

I went to the Samui Hospital web page and didn't get a reply from an e-mail sent. I'm going to make an appointment  with the dentist there and set up a Pap as well. If anyone has better ideas of Doctors, I'd love to  hear about it.
