......or bad hat day !
Did anyone know there were almost 400,000 Catholics here.
I know there are several churches in and close to Bangkok but almost 400k ?
I thought the churches were for expats.
I have never met a Thai catholic.
Maybe the TAT supplied these stats to lure in big spending Italians.(sic)
The Diocese of Chanthaburi has a congregation of 45,800 (as at 2016).
The high school in Chanthaburi city has less than 100 Catholics in its 1500 pupils, a higher standard of education is the attraction.

Departing today .. . a new personal best... from being dropped off, check-in, bag-check, immigration - 21 minutes total.
My last arrival, a Friday evening 5.15pm I was in a taxi heading south by 5.50pm.
Just lucky I guess

Catholics have a presence in Thailand? Who knew?
Chanthaburi. Cathedral, schools in Chanthaburi city.
Our town has church, junior and high schools.
Many of the local towns have churches, in the 70s Vietnamese Christians settled here fleeing Communism, there was already a substantial population of Vietnamese descent living here.
The Cathedral would be the best-known building in the province and features in local government promotions.
Local Catholics held their 300 years celebrations in 2011.

Sports.... Thai again caught cheating at scrabble competition for a second time after being banned several years..
I'm impressed ... blaming a low-level Scrabble player who cheated for tourism downturn ... any actual stats on that one?
N1 O1 but you'll score 6 if you get to a triple word score
Perhaps best comparison would be the impact the British champion Allan Simmons' cheating has had on UK tourism, he remains banned, but I suspect the impact was less than minimal?

HAIL DAGON!
So to summarise, your answer to the question would be 'no'
Best wishes for what remains of your own 'internal life' ...

Redevelopment of the tourist rest area, and extended seawall construction, at Paknam Khaem Nu, Chanthaburi, 15 July 2019

We've had an enjoyable social time this morning, temple from 5.30-8.30 great opportunity to catch up with friends, and people away from their workplace. In a town of around 9000, events like this bring people together from the surrounding orchard/horticulture areas, groups heading off together afterwards to homes and cafes.
Our town is almost 'dry' in that while Tesco, 7-11 and a few stores sell alcohol ( but not today or tomorrow), there's no bars, only one of the restaurants has beer. And yet miraculously, people survive.
Wishing you all a happy day.

I owned a 650 Raptor briefly, and really can't think why ... it was after Triumph Speed Triple and before a Street Triple. 8mths of sedate riding, handy as a commuter in the city but not an exciting ride

He could ride though, see him featured in this 1988 NZ advert for Europa fuel, he was friends with Midge Marsden the harmonica player and guested on this music video, see SRV riding on the beach around 1:05

There was a time not too far back when a blind eye was turned in tourist destinations but since some people decided they knew better than you how to run the country things changed.
Can you imagine what happen if the Pope came out with something similar?
Don't bother coming to NZ then, alcohol sales ban on various Christian days, Easter, Xmas, plus till 1pm on Anzac Day
It is amusing, or bemusing, that the same 'experts' on this forum come up with precisely the same whinges on every alcohol sales ban day.
Seriously, very misguided if you think anyone would miss you or your meagre ever-decreasing pension contribution to Thailand.

Incredible photo. What did you take it with?
Canon camera, from about 3m distance. Lighting is wrong, but I wasn't staying there too long ...
It was in the shade of trees at Ao Krathing beach, Chanthaburi, I'd never considered snakes at the beach before and was more focused on looking ahead at the view of the sea through the trees rather than what may be underfoot. Daughter knows better ...

I saw (almost stood on - daughter pushed me away) this one in April - from pics I believe it to be a Malayan Pit Viper, looks different to the one pictured in #1

Unless they decide on a major upgrade, current service Bangkok-Aranyaprathet is 3rd class
QuoteTrain # 275 / 286 "Bangkok - Aranyaprathet"
This is an "ordinary" train. It takes 5h 40min from Bangkok to the terminal station. The departure is early in the morning at 05:55 and arrival time at the terminal station is 11:35. This train consists of several third-class seater carriages. The benches are usually hard and are not divided into individual seats. The car has a fan that does not always work, but it is possible to open the windows.
We were at Sa Kaeo railway station in April, here's pics of the current train, note the open windows (air conditioning!). If would be an adventure, of sorts

Aftermath of #985 as the truck was returned to the yard for damage assessment. Driver recovering, went thru the windscreen, shoulder injuries (not wearing a seat belt, do any truck drivers?)
