I would think the Thais are too lazy, or just refuse to work for the wage offered at these establishments.

After rent my daily expenses were 1,350 baht per day. I live with my girlfriend, and this amount was quite sufficient.

Breakdown as follows. Rent 25 percent

Food 25 percent

Drinking 15 percent

Tranortation 6 percent

This included 6 weekend trips to hau hin, Cham, pattaya, ko samet.

I lived quite comfortably on this amount.

We eat mainly at street side thai food stalls., restaurants.

If my math is right then your monthly expenses are about 30 x 1350 + 6000, approx 46000b which is in the ballpark of the OP. But you are spending on different things.

Throwing in a bit more for solid health insurance and maybe occasional trips home 70k seems good for a comfortable single existence in Bkk. Well, that's a target at least.

Luang probang buffet restaurants have now started charging chinese tourists for wasting food at buffets.

its about timebfor this, as there is no excuse for the amount they waste.

I travelled china a few years ago. I ate at many buffets. The chinese looked at me in amazement as my plate was clean as I ent back up to get more food.

It seemed to be a competition amonst them to see who could waste the most.

In luang probang, they charge the chinese for uneaten food at the buffets, nothing short of animals!

in cambo I can get a coctail of quality liquor for 50-100 baht, depending on venue.

in thailand the booze is shit, its no name backwash thats been watered down. And crazy priced.

If you're getting treated worse than you were 20 years ago its partly because you're 20 years older. I'm early 40s but look younger. I never pay full price and just laugh and walk out if any bar is more than 700 for a bar fine. The bars with coyotes with ridiculous drink prices , again I just walk out and don't go back to those ones. Baccara still has no coyotes every girl the same price, theres a few other good places still there.

A friend of mine who's in his early 20s and a looker often gets offers to go with him for free at bar closing time. Yes there's plenty of mercenary ones but they're easy to spot and I can always find ones that are up for extra fun and happy to stick around for a while. And yes if you are silly enough to be the only customer in a bar with six girls you deserve what you get, walk out find somewhere with 80 baht drinks at happy hour and come back later.
