  1. I don't think the remarks are reserved just for asian women with older western b'f's siamone & I doubt if the remarks are jelousy, like most people, we prefer youth to be with youth, this is nature at it's most basic form (procreation) & personally, as a 30 year old women, I doubt if I could go to bed witn a man considerably older than me, regardless of what he looks like. I have had offers from older men in the past. And yes, I do think that young women with older men are wasting their best years but up to them, what ever their reasons. Whether it's rod stuart or joe average, I just don't get it.

That's fine for you Boo, and I am fine with my hubbie, a fantastic man.

As for nature, procreation for men is possible into their 80's, so no problem there!

My best years are with him; as I said, I have had younger b/fs before, and they were a waste of time.

As Sanmig says, it is up to the individual, and other people can think what they like. It is a bit like someone saying "why you drink beer, it tastes horrible?", on a simple level.

Maybe the remarks are not jealousy then, just a matter of taste.

  2. I think you have few pleasures in your life. I hope you see soon someone arrested of some crime you deeply despise. In Pattaya the punishments are not very hard, 200-400 B and you can go on driving. I've heard that the punishments will be harder in future, then I maybe have to reconsider my D/D habits.

Unfortunately correct. I hope you and your half brain do not get into an accident.

I saw a farang mow down a kid one day, tried to drive away, but the crowd caught him and beat him to a pulp; maybe his half brain was quartered? :o:D

  3. sbk, thank you for such a precise and timely answer.I am quite used to getting mauled in the other side of the forum. :o

My friend is as sweet as they come but knows little of what she will have to do being married to a Thai male.I hope i can pick your brain occasionally so that i may smooth her path a little.

and...just a copy of the bank book was not enough, they needed a letter from the bank stating that we had the money. Bank books get forged, it seems!!

    good luck

  4. Drinking of course turns you into an idiot whether or not you are driving, but assuming that most drinkers aren't drunk all the time, what about the people who ARE idiots all the time? That means every mile they drive they are dangerous but DDs are only like that when they are drunk!? Unless of course they are both....

well, of course they are both, otherwise they would not drink and drive!!

  5. everyone talking about rain, but no-one can tell me if the Riverside bar is still there!!!

    please, anyone? :D  :o

Maybe it got washed away in the RAIN ? (just to keep things on topic)

Is the Riverside Bar in Chang Mai ? Did you leave a bottle of Mekong at the bar ?Have you tried asking the question in the Chang Mai forum ?

yes, yes, you got the point, it was all about whether it got washed away in the rain, so on topic it was!!

I have posted it in CM forum, but it would have been nice to get some info quickly instead of minor complaint :D

  6. In the UK they reckon that 30% of all accidents have alcohol involved...that means that  70% of all the B*****s who run into you are stone cold sober...does this mean that if they were drunk you'd have over a  50% better chance of not being hit!?!?!?!?!?!

very funny, I love stats too!

but you know the truth, you are less likely to have an accident when sober than when drunk. The 30% figure you quote does not indicate that DDs are only 5% of the drivers, so you are 6X more likely to have an accident when over the limit.

It is not really a subject to laugh about, esp if you get involved in such an accident

  7. thank you for your deeply fascinating insights into Thai mentality.

please read the link i posted, then please come back here and discuss

Yes, I have read that stuff before. It is by a man who thinks he knows everything. He has many preconceptions, and he justifies them by quoting subjective experiences. It is entertaining, and amusing even, but not worth taking seriously.

His best experiences are with so many girls that he did not marry, always a good point to start. Think back to any g/fs you have had, and maybe your experiences would not be all positive, for whatever reason. I am sure you could make western women out to be money grabbing nasty bitches, if you wanted to.

    This bit

She must be willing to tell in Thai, the proper way. On another occasion she expressed this love using the phrase (nickname, rak khun); well those of you who know Thai understand that this is a ridiculous way of espousing one's love for someone. The Thai language has a very succinct way of stating someone’s true love for someone they consider as a spouse, ‘chan rak ther’; NOT (nickname or chan) rak khun, and for someone who is relatively competent in Thai (taken university exams and regularly done simultaneous Thai-English-Thai interpretation as part of my job), her ridiculous expression was an insult.

is nonsense, as even starter students of Thai will know. A g/f or wife will call her partner khun, not ther

ther is a familiar useage, only for someone your own age and "rank"

khun is for an older person, including husband, and implies respect and will be used even if the woman and man are the best of friends.

so, as in the rest of his diatribe, he is talking nonsense.

You are basing your ideas on this guy...try thinking for yourself and stop quoting errant nonsense at me :o

  8. Many people like to look down on westerners who come to Asia to find bed partners.  They way they express their dislike is often distasteful, and sounds more like gossip than any reasoned examination.  Many men of all ages and attractiveness come and have an infinite variety of types of relationships.  I'm tired of hearing the same silly insult by western women that the men who come here are by and large unable to get laid at home.  There are other good reasons to demean men for their activities here, but that is not one of them.  Also, I wanted to start a discussion about age differences.  It seems to me that many people find a big age difference or a big attractiveness difference as inherently distasteful, but can't quite put their finger on why.

Oh yes? I find that when I go back to europe with my (older) hubbie, it is the middle aged women who tend to be unpleasant and bitchy. Remarks have been made like "he has ruined her life", "dirty old man", disgraceful" etc etc. It is as if I was a 15 year old who had no experience of life and had been sold to him.

I am 30, he is 60, it is a big difference, but I was no innocent when I met him, having Thai and Farang boyfriends before. He is just a lovely man, respects me and looks after me.

The "why" of the distasteful remarks can just be seen as jealousy of the ageing unattractive women. I cant think of anything else. Luckily, those who do say nasty things are the people it is not worth bothering with. :o:D

it is all the assumptions that are made, without any knowledge of the real situation. My hubbie did not come to Thailand to get a "bed partner", and we met almost by accident. He had a youngish (33) year old western g/f before me, and there were no remarks that he knew of, so it is just reserved for Asian women.

oh well, we are happy, I hope you can be!! :D

  9. Yes, good luck to you!

you can get a decent size land inside the moat for about 4/5 million, around 80 sq wah. And of course cheaper and smaller ones too.

Ours is only 30wah (120 sq metres), a good size wooden house on it, but no garden (and no problems!) but a nice terrace to sit at.

We are not there all the time so no garden is easier. No car is also easier...you can always rent a pick-up or car very easily. :o

  10. False. We have a strict privacy policy, and are *not* sharing or giving away email addresses. Never!

    Thaivisa.com Privacy policy:

    http://www.thaivisa.com/374.0.html

We are proud of that policy FYI!

No, I was not suggesting that. They obtain email address lists by entering websites illegally, hacking, and even good firewalls cannot stop them. there is always a backdoor way in.

As I said, it is only since registering here that I have experienced such an increase. There is no insult intended.

  11. Yes, it is awful to see something like that, very emotionally disturbing

sorry for you, it will stay with you some time, but will get less

I saw something like that in Songkran right in front of Daret guesthouse, guys beating up one guy until too much blood...it took me a long time to accept it

    never mind
