oh yes, dont need a motorbike, just get a bicycle, much easier to look around.
we found our place by cycling around until we saw boards for sale. You have Thai wife, so no problem.
good luck

Will be in CM this October with the thai wife so will be able to look around then,
but, do any of you live in this area, wish to, know someone who does?
Just wanted to find out what it is like. Seems it would be nice to own a house where you could walk to eaterys, stores, ect. Comments please.
And yes my first post, HI...
So what's it like? Thanks...MP.
Yes, we live inside, near Chang Puak
Like most areas, there are quiet sois where you can live a good life, and be very near the bars shops etc
It really depends on your neighbours and any traffic. It is very built up, but you can make nice places
we like it a lot, but land is more expensive, it's true, but not ridiculous
we don't need a car, just use bicycles and red buses to get around. so easy

Since I put my email address in my profile data on this TV site, my spam has increased three-fold.
obviously they are managing to access the database to obtain "live" email addresses
So take care, use another email address that can fill with spam and not bother you
I hate them!!!

It's dipped to the 2nd page again, doc. Chiang Mai has got hot.

hmmmm, I think if you need to ask, you had better travel with someone!!
you never know, by yourself some girl may run away with all your money, or some guy may sell you some diamonds.......
better have a friend to hold your hand
or come by yourself, have a good time and grow up quickly

3.I never said i wanted to establish a lasting relationship with a Thai, they are too superficial for me, just like human puddles. why not read this?:
thank you for your deeply fascinating insights into Thai mentality.
So, in your experience, all Thais are superficial? well, I can only wonder why that sort of Thai is attracted to you ..maybe it is your patronising ways? ... or your superiority? ...or your rich man act?...
I dont know, but you are very insulting in your assessment.
Maybe if you behaved in a more compassionate way, met some real Thais and enjoyed life, you would change your ideas....maybe

I may have missed this in a previous post of yours, but are you a Thai lady?
( Oh I forgot....Here is my Smiley...... )
It's Ok, you can keep your smiley
and you obviously did miss that. I am a Thai woman.
Ouch! No smiley in your post...
sorry about that, it was a bad day for me!!
here is a smiley for you now
...sheesh.... that has all the subtlety of a Yao Ming (Houston Rockets) slam rejection block of a fadeaway shot by Anfernee Hardaway of the New York Knicks.... blasting the ball into the 15th row of Madison Square Garden....555555555! Siracha!
I'm still reeling!
and you shouldn't reel, after all, I am just a small Thai woman
sorry again though, it really was a bad day!!

how strange to try to compare and contrast the two things.
both were natural disasters, both have horrific consequences
I am sure everyone is doing everything possible to alleviate any hardship
don't get all your info from CNN!!

I suppose an extra bit too.....
farang men do not worry too much about a womans history
many Thai men want a virgin to marry, even if they have been with 100 girls already themselves.
-
Just ignore us, we're doing a survey for Siamone
love the pic!! whats the guy with a bit of string doing?
Pandas only do it once every seven years, right? How about that!!
-
I AM going to generalise here, as my comments do fit the MAJORITY of Thai men. From my own experience, and all my friends.
I would not go with a Thai man again, unless he was not like this (and I was not still married!!)
Thai men do not see women as equal, they do not want to be equal, they want to control them too much.
A woman has her place, but it is lower than a man.
I have found this many times, and I cant stand it!!
any comments, but remember I am generalising, not 100% Thai men are like that
maybe 99%!!

I reckon there are lots of stores all round the city that you can buy stuff cheaper
as long as you can speak Thai, or like to wave your hands a lot
