  1. This country is so corrupt beyond belief!

No wonder Thailand will never improve if fools are paying stupid prices for a dodgy visa that could quite easily be revoked.

Did you notice what type of car the agents and immigration officers were driving?

5 Series BM or CS Class?

    What a mug,

Well, I'm off to Vientiane end of the month for my 1 year Non Immigrant...

I would tell you how much it costs but I don't want to make you cry...

  2. wow... Harsh or what... I know he's not in England but first offence and he would be fined and community service for this amount, second offence 12 months incarceration. This is bang out of order and I'm in total agreement with the earlier posted who suggested it's racially motivated. Just a month or so ago, a car drove into the rear of a car parked on Sarasin bridge - a no parking dual-lan highway - and died along with his son. Nothing at all to the plum who'd stopped "to enjoy the view" Seems they view a couple of hundred E's to be far more important than wrongful death (or any death if we compare sentences of people who actually did get arrested). Mind you, could have been worse, he might have got a bullet between the eyes back in 2001 when Thaksin had granted permission to murder dealers to the police force!

Another one that just doesn't get it

What's wrong with these people? [emoji99][emoji99][emoji99]

This ain't soft headed England is it!

Again! There's a BIG FO SIGN AT THE AIRPORT!

If it's at the airport it's directed at foreigners isn't it...

If Thailand became as soft as the as the UK on this there'd be hoards of people bringing God knows what in by the kilo!

    Midnight Express baby!

Poor old Billy Hayes... Same sh*t different country...

  3. "E" isn't particularly dangerous, addictive or destructive. Most truly civilized countries wouldn't be too concerned with this crime.

You think methamphetamine mixed with caffeine is not particularity dangerous ?

Ecstacy is supposed to mainly comprise MDMA, back in the 70s marketed as the 'love drug', but now often mainly made up of amphetamines.

The 50 year sentence seems extraordinary, especially as he pleaded guilty, was it commuted from a death sentence? Anyone know if it was an importation or drugs acquired locally. Hopefully the guy will get sentence reductions in the coming years. Does HMG arrange repatriation after a certain period to serve time in UK prison?

I am not a Brit but why should he be transferred to a British prison and there to become a burden on the English taxpayer for 50 years. I am no great lover of China but they seem to have the perfect answer to this kind of crime.

Well I AM a Brit and I totally agree with you

With a bit of luck he'll die of AIDS after sharing the needle of heroin he'll become addicted to... Scumbag drug dealers

They all deserve to have copious amounts of what they sell injected into their veins... Let's be rid of the scum

  4. To author ANDY RICHARDSON Klong Prem is " rat infested" and you know this to be true - HOW?

For sure Thailand is known to be, and is incredibly tough on convicted drug dealers. As for folk here who say he will be out in 4-5 years, how do you know this?

So many knowledgeable people on this meeting place. /sarc

    Welcome to TVF !

We got lawyers, professional drivers, even a few who say they're hardcore racing drivers! [emoji99][emoji99][emoji99][emoji23]

You name it, they're on TVF... I just come here for mere entertainment

    But in short

    Red Plates:

    • Can only be used from 06:00 to 18:00, though there is a police directive to extend this to 20:00 in situations of heavy traffic - max fine: 1,000 Baht.
    • Cannot be driven outside of the province indicated without special approval of the Land Transport Department (permission must be noted in the log book) - max fine: 1,000 Baht.
    • Logs of each journey must be kept - max fine: 1,000 Baht
    • Cannot be used on the one car for more than 30 days or 3,000KM - max fine: 10,000 Baht
In addition, the use of fake red plates will result in a 6 month to 5 year jail term, and a 1,000 to 10,000 Baht fine.

I've just been scrolling through the threads for one about Red Plates.

My wife bought her car in December and the car still has the red plate, nobody has ever said about the above laws of limited driving hours, driving outside the province etc...

These laws must be so unheard of or irrelevant it seems like the police don't even know about them?

We were stopped in Isaan over Songkhran, he asked how long she's had the car, told him since December and he just said to ask the dealer to sort it out when we get back home.

This is the only time we've been stopped and queried about the plate, the other 15-20 times we've been stopped is when I was driving or passenger and they're trying to get some money... Which is a fail every time...

As for being limited to driving the car only between 06:00 - 18:00/20:00 it's a joke because we've never been stopped outside of these times.

Keeping a log? Never have done and we're not going to.

    >15,000 km on the clock now and nobody batters an eyelid.

It's got to be a case of so much paperwork involved they just can't be bothered...

Just sayin' really because some people would worry about things like this after reading "the laid down law on TVF" LoL

It's a load of baloks Den

  6. I'll never forget the time I had tendinitis from "playing too much golf!" Said the Dr at Bangkok Samui hospital a few years back.

I went in for what I thought would be a 10 minute examination...

Within 45 minutes I found myself in a private room with a saline drip and antibiotic drip in my arm!

Then the debt collector came in and (as I didn't have medical insurance) I was forced to sign a 35,000฿ "quote" to confirm I will pay. I was in a great deal of pain at the time and would've signed anything to make it go away...

3 days later she came back and said the treatment needs to be extended and now the bill is expected to be about 55,000฿, then said I have to pay 35,000 now so they can continue the treatment and had to walk to the ATM in my hospital PJ's and wheeling the drip along on its stand...!

I said it's a debit card but she gave me some BS that the cashier is only authorised to accept cards...? "Ok then, you take my card to the cashier, she can swipe it then you bring it back and I'll sign the slip... Nope! She's now not allowed to hold bank cards because it's only the cashier...blah blah blah...

I settled the bill (which ended up amounting to a total of 68,000฿!) upon checkout, and while I was there I asked the cashier why a nurse or someone from admin/accounts is not allowed to hold a card that belongs to a patient and she just looked at me as if I was lying!

She said any member of staff can do what I ask the debt collector to do for me...

So she was being a lazy tyke then....

Needless to say I have never been back to any Bkk hospital and never will.

Even now that I have the sense to have insurance I will never use that chain of hospitals again. [emoji14]

Now that the tears have dried .. do you mind if I inquire ... You walked in the hospital " ... great deal of pain at the time and would've signed anything to make it go away..."

You signed ... Did the pain go away?

If so ... looks like you got what you paid for.

LoL, Alligator tears... You mean crocodile tears don't you? Haha

If you're going to try and make someone look small at least get it right, ok dear.

  8. Wow! 2 years!

That's a long sentence for killing people with a car isn't it!

You may want to re-read the OP articles...

Her jail sentence was suspended, meaning she has served/will serve no time at all.

Just probation, community service, a supposed driving restriction -- and exposure to civil litigation from the victims' families.

I did read the whole article... I thought it was obvious I was referring to her original sentence...

You may want to read the post I made afterwards referring to her driving ban that won't be getting imposed...

  9. I bought the DOD 430W from www.thaiblackbox.com for about 6,000฿

    Works fine via the USB,

But my USB socket is a double one that plugs into the cigi lighter...

Nevertheless, it still works fine if plugged into the car's USB socket only because I know it's a 1Amp USB

If your USB is only a 0.5A socket then there's your answer... Not enough wattage...

Check the power demand for your camera and then check your truck's manual to see what the USB supplies
