  1. Many anti-gun posters on Thai Visa, bring up the fact Australians gave up their guns. The Australian government not only took their guns away but their right to protect themselves in their own home. I’m sure the 80 million plus legal gun owners in America, will eventually see the logic in that.

The anti-gun nuts think confiscating guns from all legal gun owners will be the cure to all these terrible shootings. In this case, the cure is far worst than the disease. Incidents continually take place all over America, where legal gun owners successfully defend themselves against armed robbers or intruders. Liberals tend to completely ignore this fact.

Anti-gun nuts, can continue with their hysterical rantings, weeping, and wringing their hands over gun ownership in America, but the 2nd Amendment isn’t going anywhere.

How about the need for an assault rifle or sniper rifle "to protect your American home"?

You really need to watch Jim Jefferies' latest stand up "Bare" he's hit the nail right on the head.

The second amendment needs to be amended.

  2. You Americans never learn do you ? In most civilized countries a mother would not be allowed to carry an armed gun, if she was in service working as police, guard or a miliary I could accept accidents might happen, but not something like this, where a 2 year old shoot his own mom, only in the US.

But this is a nation where the death penalty is still alive and accepted so no surprise really.....

    Hey

There's nothing wrong with the death penalty.

Its something us Brits sadly lost when some dumb copper messed up and they hung the wrong guy!

The death penalty should always remain for the likes of Paedo's & terrorists.

I mean, anyone that's even remotely suspected of being involved in either crime is definitely a wrong'un !

  3. You all keep talking about education but how many of you posters got better at driving since you passed a test? No thais improve no matter how many years they drive.... they just dont get it.

    I imagine it was everybody...

At 17 I failed my UK driving test twice.

Then just after my 18th and a load more lessons I took it again and passed the 3rd time.

Living proof that passing my test made me a better driver...

In fact, it was the other way around... I had to become a better driver to be able to pass my test...

So there's living proof that having to take exams really does prove you're better than before... Because if you're not, you won't pass

  4. Driving schools in Thailand? I remember seeing one once, a long time ago but I can't remember which town or city it was in. I was very surprised to have seen it. Of all the towns and cities I've been to I can't ever remember seeing another. Not even in Bangkok. I have definitely never seen a car from a driving school nor a car with "L" plates (or a Thai version of). If there were such a thing as a driving school, who would the instructors be? The answer to that question scares me. Having said all this, there seem to be millions of learners on the roads.

These "driving schools" are easily spotted with their miniature road signs plastered all over the shop front...

There's one in Phuket on East Chao Fa road and one in Samui in Chaweng...

So yes, they really DO exist

  5. There is a massive misconception that Thai drivers don't have "common sense".

Firstly the concept of what is and isn't common sense is not universal....so the premise is mistakenly held by those who promulgate the concept.

Secondly all drivers all over the world are equally stupid in equal proportions.

No attempt to improve road safety in Thailand will EVER work if it starts from the premise that Thai drivers are more to blame than anyone else. What road safety entails is preventing those idiots from doing what they do and reducing the severity of it when they succeed.

    Never read so much waffle!
  6. I appreciated driving in Germany and Norway... I know it the government that teaches the Norwegians, not sure about Germany?

But I'm sure that getting rid of the Mickey Mouse driving schools will be a good start!

It's these fools that are teaching at least half of all new drivers or a relative with even worse driving skills and even less knowledge of the road signs...

But we all know corruption will take over and Mickey & Minnie will just go a "buy" the government schooled & approved tutors licence...

    Speed limit signs!!!

They're a protected species here also...

  7. When you're among the worst in the world it shouldn't require experts to get you started. See above.

    AMONG!???

Only #3 in the world last year!

1 death for every 25,000 people in 2013

I thought, "How about Gruesome safety campaign commercials, uncensored Thai style"?

    But there again...

I have a collection of said commercials and put them n a playlist for the wife's friends to watch (as we're at Mae & Por's for NY)...

Trying to get them to buckle up in the back has always been a nightmare, but get this! The new car has a loud "ding ding" chime reminding them to buckle up,

I'm puzzled as to why? But it seems to "scare" them into to putting it on! [emoji106] Sorted

    Anyway,

She showed them the videos and they just didn't get it.... In awe and wanting rewinds of the impact moments of course... But they just didn't get the message..???

I thought, "this one will hit home, knowing what they're like about ghosts"

    youtube/nI9_BTm41MI

The blank stares on their faces... Waiting for something else to happen to the driver...

They just haven't got it in them to understand consequences...

As for things changing or getting better...

It doesn't matter what the government does... The "stuck in their ways" public are still going to do what they want and will continue to cause accidents and deaths because they're too uneducated (diplomatic term) to see the logic.

  8. Exactly Don.... Bugger sad.png

Does Ford actually make a single cab wildtrak ?

I thought the rest of the world only got doublecabs, Thailand gets the double cab and open cab.

Apparently in South Africa they do.

And the saleswoman that dealt with us said they sell them in the US, though I haven't been able to confirm this myself

Ford South Africa website only lists the double cab.

The Ranger is not currently sold into the USA however I beleive it will be next year... again though none of the current markets lists a Single Cab Wildtrak so I doubt they will build one just for that market.

Yeah that's why I wrote "apparently"... Didn't want to commit myself on someone else's word... You know what this site is like ;)

I just think it's mad and pointless buying a pickup with a crappy half size useable space in the back, half of which has been taken up by the bulbous 4 door cab!

If you want comfort and easy access, get an SUV! LoL

Guess it's gonna be a Vigo then... I do like the way my Fortuner drives at the end of the day.

  9. Why don't you go to a Mazda dealer, its the same vehicle

Let me finish that sentence for you:

....just with a botched exterior design. The 2015 Ranger minor change kicks even more sand in the poor BT-50's face:

How dare you? Mazda's styling is elegant and sophisticated. It's the Maserati of pickup trucks.

You need to go to Top Charoen mate!

    The "Coyote Ugly" of pickups

  10. Sometimes, people just want the moon thrown in free with the car. No mass market car brand dealers will give you 3m film, unless it is the FX HP or lower series, which is still good, but 3m has several grades up to Crystalline.

Same thing with floor mats. You'll get the cheapies always, so just assume that you will have to do the proper tint and floor mats yourself (negotiate the value out of the package), and you get a nice ride.

Whatever, 3M is 3M and as long as it comes with the 7yr warranty I'm happy, [emoji1]

I got 3M film with my Fortuner 9 years ago & proper top of the line (at that time) floor matts throughout and a load of other free blingy stuff.

As did all the other people I know that bought their car cash.

I don't know who you've been dealing with to think it's acceptable and "normal"? But I've never seen or heard anything like that?

  11. I'd like to contact Ford USA too.

Just bought a Focus Sport+ for the wife's birthday and it took them nearly 3 weeks to transport the car less than 250km from the AAT factory in Rayong? (She confirmed a car of that colour is available now at the factory)

The HGV driver delivered the car to another ford dealer 50km away, so the car was driven to where we ordered it with 60km on the clock!

(In my opinion the car's used after being driven on the road)

EVERY dealer gives free window film right? And we all want the proper 3M stuff, not that cheap Chinese copy crap that's available...

    Well, Ford don't!

I had to pay an extra 3,000฿ because I insisted on 3M!!!

I know you can get a Focus done for 3,500-4,000฿!

Yet they said they don't discount/refund the supposed 5,000฿?? that they spend on film if you want the car without film.

Hmmm, more typical Thai business logic...

    Their supposed 5k plus my extra 3k =... T.I.T.

    Oh, and by the way...

If you take advantage of their 4 yr 0% finance, you get ripped off and bugger all extras.

If you buy it cash or choose the standard finance option you get the 3M film and all the extra accessories "Free?"

It's not "really" free is it??

Her expression of "Wot no tip???" was quite amusing as we drove away.

Nice car, LOVE the dynamic parking thing (hands free parking!!!) but still P'd off about this pathetic attempt of customer care from Ford Thailand.

I've still yet to receive replies from my two emails of complaint to the Bangkok office!!

Just blatant ignorance if you ask me!

4k for 3m film is extremely cheap.

Sounded a little cheap to me too for a car that size & it's the quote I got from SolarKool.

Maybe it's the price before skintax [emoji13]

    Standard tint is about 3.5-4k

The mirrored one would be about 5k

Call Steve (Company owner) on 0860839140, see what you get? It'd be interesting [emoji6]

  13. For me, the same.

Nothing is wasted in this house.

The kids leave every light on and if I don't get up to switch off they will be on all night.

3 air conditions are running from 4 in the afternoon till 7 in the morning, because the apple of her eyes can not live without air condition. They did till the age of 9, but then the rich farang came.

Food is cooked for 10, although we are 4, the rest is going to the bins.

Keep asking them at least to throw to the soi dogs, but it's a big job.

Bottles of mineral water is taken to their rooms, they drink half of it the rest goes in the sink.

    That I discovered recently.

Clothes never mended, as my mother used to do, they are thrown in the bin.

I got angry now.....must be more, but I can't think at the momentw00t.gif

Who wears the trousers and who wears the skirt?

You're paying half to support her kids right?

  14. Well, my sympathy to the OP. I was bitten while riding on my "work bike" to my place of work. It was a 2-lane highway and the dog belongs to someone. The same bunch attacked me while riding a Honda Wave as well.

    Am sick of this!

Get a taser gun to scar them off... I've yet to see a dog that stands it's ground with that loud crackling sound, if you're lucky they'll get close enough to tasted 80,000 volts!

    Or

See if you can entice the dogs onto the busy highway and let them get their comeuppance. SPLAT! [emoji38]

  15. It really is a waste of time and money having this thing installed in Thailand especially... As mentioned before, this is Thailand so are the police really going to be bothered about a little scratch on the bumper?

By the time you've paid them their 2,000 baht for coming out, if they do at all, you could've claimed on the insurance with an excess of 1,000 baht or had it touched up by a bodyshop for the same amount...

It really is a useless feature here and not worth the bother.
