Oh dear, the usual TV resident Pattaya bashers won't like this. Can't get a better source of information than the vendors themselves!

its not pattaya its jomtien.jomtien will soon be dead aswell, when the russians and scans go home.they sit on the beach all day, drink and eat from 7/11.Not pattaya bashers. Is telling the truth a basher. The place is finished to what it used to be.And they have brought it on themselves.

  2. Have never read so much <deleted>.Cheaper bar prices ?,Cheaper compared to were. The cheapest around pattaya bars is 60 baht for a small bottle of beer.Nearly 3 of these to a pint.So thats over £4 a pint.Girls asking 2000 is the norm now.I have also heard that shooters is going to put bar fines up to 1200 baht.? Noise not a problem ? Big brown envelope there. So pattaya needed another bar area ? The place is dead. Its expencive, and the whole attitude to farrangs stinks.Full of indians walking around looking into bars.Avoid the place,Its finished.

310 direct flight to Vietnam per week?

    Thats 44 flights per day.

That is much higher that I would have ever guessed.

Is BKK just a convenient hub and easier to get to Vietnam than from other countries?

Its correct.I know there are 105 bankok to HCMC in a week.take into account the other 5 airports in thailand and 5 in vietnam.

Popular Thai Beaches Pricier Than European Resorts: It’s Not Just About the Higher Baht

    Raini Hamdi, Skift

It’s easy to blame the baht as the butt of the problem for a decline in European arrivals to Thailand. The issues are wider and deeper than just currency appreciation.

    — Raini Hamdi

The cost of a holiday in popular beach resorts in Thailand is now on par with or higher than those in Greece, Italy, Spain, Turkey, and Egypt, which are closer to home for Europeans.

The cost of a five-star resort in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Samed has reached around $500 per room per night including American breakfast. This is similar to the cost of a five-star beach resort in Greece, Italy and Spain, and dearer than a comparable property in Turkey or Egypt, which costs $350 a night, according to Diethelm Travel Group.

It is even pricier than a mountain resort in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, which is $450 a room in the summer July/August high season for Europeans.

99.9% do not stay in $500 a night hotels. It is the baht .plus the thai etcetcetc putting prices up as well.Pluss the attitude of no respect to tourists.ie only looked upon to scam steal from.etc etc etc.

I have been told that I am being very negative (other posts) about Thailand and the Baht, but I am certain that I am right, and this post is just another of many examples of what is actually hapenning in Thailand.  The economy is in big trouble, but the 'echo chamber' of the Thai leaders in Bangkok (Junta et al) cannot and will not 'see' it (and some TV posters).

Unless they take drastic actions to decrease the Baht, the world economy will take action itself - and it will be big and ugly.  Maybe not as big as in the 1990s  - but it is going to be bad if they dont take action soon.   This is Thailand's net external debt - I will not bother showing charts about how muchg the Baht has increased against ALL foeign currencies - but of note is that those graphs look very similar to this one below.

It is unsustainable - and a correction is inevitable and is coming.  But being the optimist that I actually am, I can see the Junta being thrown out after the correction happens, and a pro-Business and Pro-USA Govt taking their place.  And amongst all the changes that new Govt will make, I reckon the attitude towards Expats will eventually return to what is what in the past - we are good for the economy - please stay/come back.

You have not got a clue what you are talking about.

This is correct.I still know people that still go and live there.I was told that last christmass was very quiet.I lived there upto about 5 years ago.And pattaya was dead all year except for christmass and new year. But even then was very quiet to what it used to be.Im told now it is full of indians walking round spending no money. And many of them to one room.
