Kamala's Guesthouse near Thaphae Gate is very good. More a hotel, really. No pool, no garden, but free wifi and a good restaurant.
Great cup of coffee, charming staff. Aircon rooms from 600 baht.
Kamala's Boutique is the more upscale sister location, 2 minutes away. I haven't checked that one out yet, though.

You have to be stable when you pull.
Of course, if you're gonna bounce anyway, pull!

Student panic The very first thing you are taught is how to arch. Arching gets you belly-down and stable.
A Cypres would have fired, but if the jumper is tumbling, he's likely to get a line wrap. Bad outcome.

There is a good barber on Soi Si Bamphen. 60 baht, includes shave, nose and ear hair trim, massage, tonic, powder and scent.

Kasikorn banker in green jacket stole 265,000 baht from my account. I lost my visa because of this.
Bank blames employee, will not replace stolen funds.
Steer clear of K Bank.

I bought the iphone 5 and gave it to my bf 2 months later. I hated it.
I bought the Galaxy S3. Twice the phone at half the price. Still have it.
Bf has had it in for expensive repairs twice. Now it needs a battery replacement. At least Aple is paying for this one.
I hold Apple stock. Gonna dump it when the 6 ships and there's a sentiment-driven bump in the stock.
Thank you, fanboys.

I have a non-O retirement visa. I had to buy a re-entry permit to travel abroad.
Each time I return to Thailand, my passport is stamped with the ending date of my retirement visa. Crossing a border does not result in an increase in length of stay.

According to wikipedia, Issan and Lanna (northern) Thai are not dialects. They are separate, although related, languages.

I beloeve the water piped to my village is clean and safe to drink. Then it is stored in open concrete tanks.
I've seen the tanks. They contain leaves, bugs, and dirt.
I drink bottled water. -

I have been studying Thai informally for two years. (Of my own volition, I have a retirement visa)
I speak conversational Thai fairly well. I have moderate hearing loss and cannot understand spoken Thai unless it is slowly and carefully pronounced.
Not everyone who cannot understand spoken Thai is lazy.
I can read and write Thai. I agree that this skill is crucial.-

Thanks, I found that chart, too. The Thai sizes are not included. The Thai #3 is not very coarse. I think I need #9. #5 is rougher, but still too smooth for my purpose.

Hundreds of examples of price differences depending on whether or not you are a local in the USA...
Yeah? Besides University tuition, I can't think of any examples of pricing based on nationality in the US. National parks charge the same price to everyone, regardless of passport. What am I missing?
~
I didn't say "national", I said "local".
As just one example, many state parks charge fees to out of state users. People in the state already contribute by other means to the state park system.
Thai people have paid not just taxes but with their own blood and sweat for the last 1000 years to have their own country. And you? 5 bucks is too much to ask?
You are missing the ability to read and comprehend simple sentences.

Thanks for the post. Good news.
Anyone get the local price at the Chiang Mai Zoo?

I imagine the Immigration Officer would say Thai nationals support the parks with their taxes. Visitors do not.
Rumor is a Thai driver license or Tabien Baan will get you local admission prices at national parks, museums, etc. I have not yet put that to a test.
Not a rumor, it's true...
Although, as with most things here it depends on who you get at the gate on the day

Ask the Immigration officer when you arrive next time, same time you can ask him why you have to pay 200 THB to visist a national park in Thailand when the locals pay only 40 THB.

I think I would seriously mar the surface with a disk sander. I bought a vibration sander.
I will just keep looking for #9 and #7 sandpaper and assume it's close enough.

The TOA paintstore and the Mom and Pop both have #1, 3 and 5. All too fine for stripping paint from teak.
The Made in UE stuff with the alligator is garbage. Lasts maybe 2 minutes. Found it openly for sale by the manufacturer. In China.
The EU is part of China now? Did I miss WWIII?

Does anyone know where I can find out what Thai sandpaper grits really are? #3, #5, etc. are not internationally recognized grades. I am looking for 80, 100 and 120 grit sandpaper.
I have googled for an hour...no joy.

Thailand has the second-worst motor vehicle death rate in the world. Only Namibia has more fatalities. As bad as they are, Chinese, Cambodian and Vietnamese drivers are demonstrably better than Thai drivers.

Most of the grafitti I saw on the Great Wall was in Chinese....some of it appeared quite old.

Didn't work for me on Koh Lanta last week. I gave the park a miss.
