I set the account up originally to pay into my KBank single account but because I couldn't see any FTT details I opened an account at BBL
My latest transfer, only today to Bangkok bank, shows as interbank transfer via smart
No longer FTT
Don't know where that will leave everyone?

2) Only 7% of all EU exports go to the UK.
Who relies on whom?
I would not argue against your statement but it could be put in another way
The 7% of EU exports to the UK is far greater than the UK percentage(50%) exports to the EU
In essence the same statement
EU exports are country driven and will have a much larger effect upon individual countries within the EU, If we source products from countries outside the EU
Suddenly the onus changes on who relies on who
Statistical information can always be twisted to support one way or the other
Please ! i don't want to get into some mega argument of who is right or wrong as i feel that many people here will only look to the negative side due to the value of the pound
Is it in our interest to leave on a deal, yes
Did the UK have to leave the EU, yes ( in order to stop the unsustainable migration/ please note i say migration not immigrants who are needed but can be controlled)
Idiots in Brussels forced us into this position and now idiots in the House of Parliament(all parties) are escalating the problem for their own agenda, regardless of the cost to the country

I do not need to provide any stats as do many others who live both in the UK and Thailand
I own and rent 2 houses in the UK and always like to keep abreast of the market situation.
To rent a one bedroom flat in the south of England (the north is cheaper) will cost a minimum of 19,000 baht a month a 3 bed house 32,000 baht regardless of condition.
London !!, do not even go there, that price is per week (have a friend who owns 3) Obviously cheaper the further you move away
Add to this a monthly charge for council tax of 5,000+ baht and a high cost of electric versus Thailand
I have always maintained that you need to allow 10,000+ baht for all utilities gas, electric, water, tv licence, council tax, insurance etc but this is the minimum
If you are going to rent a nice studio in thailand for 15,000 baht per month or mediocre house (ie: Pattaya) while eating moderately, then Thailand is still the cheaper option (especially if you own your condo or house)
However if your expectations are grander then the difference starts to diminish
The big difference is quality of life.
In the UK, especially for people returning, they will be virtually isolated, as apposed to an active social life in Thailand
I have always said that Thailand is as cheap or expensive as you want to make it. What aspects of life do you deem important?

One thing to note about Transferwise is that they raised their fee between this transfer and the prior one. For about the same US$ transfer amount, the fee increased from US$18.73 to US$22.60.
In the UK the fee also went up 3 pence per £250. I don't think anyone is going to get too worried about it

It was with precisely this risk in mind that I ceased using TransferWise for my monthly 65k transfers to my BKKB account
My transferwise transfers always show as overseas transfer (bangkok Bank) , it is only other banks that do not show this
Apparently you can contact the bank to change it, if it does not, not sure of the procedure.

Do you transfer the money directly from your a/c or use your UK debit card, the latter can take longer?
directly from my account
I also send every month to Bangkok bank. i am wondering if Bangkok bank is the problem

Countries like the UK have the Faster Payment Service (FPS) where funds can be easily "pushed" to Transferwise within minutes at no or a low cost. Such a system does not exist in the US.
As i stated before 3 days (from UK), money arrives at transferwise within minutes, receiving an email to verify that it has arrived.
i should mention that lately i have had the odd occasion when it was 2 days
I Have received emails that it will arrive the next day (to Thailand) but are just computer generated and means nothing
I find it hard to believe what faraday is saying as i have probably used them about 100 times with the same results and others have verified this time scale on here before
Just noted someone else has verified faraday's statement could be the bank in thailand that is the problem?

Nope, from the UK it takes 8 hours during the working week.
i have used transferwise for years and never received the money in under 3 days

I can't get over the amount of foreigners with partners 20 years their junior who still believe it all about love
If only they could except that they have entered into a contract, that provides them with companionship in their remaining years, they might not be so angry at the world
A win win on both sides (as long as they drip feed the money)
I do know of circumstances where it has worked and a lot on here where it hasn't (mainly down to stupidity)

I told him that I did not think there was any concern and if anything charges could likely be brought against the girls parents for extortion?
I have had conversations regarding this subject with my gf a few times and this is normal procedure
She had informed me it happened a couple of times with girls she knew when she was a young girl
If they have threatened this action it should not be taken lightly
You can call their bluff and if they call the police then negotiations will need to be undertaken at the police station

her co-workers and friends only asked how much money do I send her each month.
They want to know how much of a cheap charlie you are or if their farang boyfriends are cheap charlies
I am constantly reminded how much her friends husband gives her friend, subsequently i constantly remind her that how ever much he gives her she spends it it all on gambling and the lottery and therefore refuse to fall into that trap.
Whilst also reminding her that she has more than twice the wages of anyone in the village
Status is a strange thing here and if they see someone else doing something they have to be seen to be able to do the same

I read in one of the threads from a few years back :
"The court prefers a lump sum payment for child support rather than monthly payments."
An awful lot of crap being talked about on this topic
Bottom line, you pay a lump sum, there is a huge probability that the money will be spend in a very short period of time. Requests of more money for support will inevitably be made and any refusal or minimum payment by yourself could result in problems of custody refusal and general access to your children
The only real option for peace of mind, is to make payment on a regular basis, allowing you to be in control (for lack of a better word)

when they were campaigning the elections, one party offered everyone in my village 200 baht to come and listen to their campaign speech.
unsurprisingly nearly the whole village turned out
Being a relatively small village and the huge turnout, i cannot even begin to imagine what the costs would of amounted to when factoring in all the other villages in the district
They had obviously arranged everything with the head of the village and ensured everyone knew about their arrival and the incentive
It is obvious that even on a district scale the rewards are huge
Another candidate turned up and had an audience of about 6 people
where did they receive such backing?
Corruption is so ingrained into this society i don't ever see it changing in my lifetime

just print out the e-ticket and take it with you as a safety precaution
However i have not shown my e-ticket for the last 5 years, i believe, maybe longer.
All i have provided, at the check in desk, was my passport, which was sufficient.

am not as old as he is, but I have insurance. I would be ashamed to have to put my hand out on a go fund me, or other money raising effort.
I also have insurance, but, and it is a big BUT. when you get to a certain age, about 65, more so 75, it becomes completely unaffordable
It has been posted on here numerous times that insurance cost is something like 5000 to 10000 baht per week and excludes any pre existing conditions so probably out of reach to the majority of expats.
To be honest when he got to sixty he would of probably decided to self insure once he saw the costs

we were always going to end up in this mess no matter who did the negotiating on the British side.
I agree, however the continued migration to the UK had to stop before it was too late to turn the clock back.
Ignoring trade, the UK could not sustain the continual increase of migrants (note not immigrants) each year (a ticking time bomb waiting to happen)
we are creating huge ghettos of migrants in every city. schools, NHS, city councils cannot cope. child birth is higher (up to 70%) to migrants than to UK citizens in some cities
If France were to hold a referendum, it is likely, they too would pull the plug
Where my parents live, English is the second language in many of the schools
Breaks my heart to say it but better a bomb now rather than a nuclear bomb later
As far as trade is concerned there is no evidence to prove that we will suffer or prosper, only propaganda (time will tell)
My only regret is that the time to recover from this mess will take 10 years or more, if ever

roast meat is unheard of where I live (no one has an oven)
Go out and buy a halogen oven 1,300 baht one of my best investments but they never use it. I even cook the fish in it instead of doing it on the barbecue. Tastes no different but easier

Brockwurst? Is that Bockwurst made with broccolli?
The sausage, they like to eat it with asparagus in a sauce. Went to a friends wedding in germany and they couldn't get enough of it. I have asked a few Germans of their favourite food and they have all said the same
Whilst i didn't really like the sauce the sausage on its own was far better than anything in the uk.
It could of been bratwurst a white looking pork sausage. You will have to excuse my ignorance as it was a number of years ago.

I don't even miss a roast in my home country of England after living here for 15 years.
well you should know that you are in the minority
All nationalities will cherish food from their home countries as been stated on here many times.
Anyone who has tasted a proper brockwurst (favorite food of all my german friends)will know the difference
I miss a sunday roast even while in the uk, just can't be bothered to cook it for one, so will always insist we go out for one when visiting siblings
Suitcase always full of the comforts of home
Cooked a joint of pork recently with the cracking attached and served it to the thais who could not believe how nice it tasted
