    In the past,

You could trade a foreign marriage certificate, for an English marriage certificate at the GRO in the UK.

But they stopped doing that a couple of years back, saying the foreign marriage certificate is good enough.

It was never something you had to do.

Probably best not letting the British government know what you're doing, or where you're living as it doesn't get you anything but trouble.

I'm still single and living in the Uk as far as they know, no need for them to know I'm living in a foreign country and married to a foreign woman.

But I live in England and she lives in Thailand at the moment so I want her to come to England for a few years until I'm in a position to move to Thailand

  2. Hoping someone can clear this up for me.

I'm English, gf now wife Thai, got married 7th December 2017 in Bangkok using an agency, after we received all the paperwork back, marriage certificates etc, including translations the agent said I had to take it to 'my government' in England to register my new wife within 60 days but she wouldn't / couldn't elaborate anymore.

I know I don't have to register the marriage but wondering if I have to take the marriage certificates to a government office like the agent indicated.

Advice would be very much appreciated.

As for cultural conflicts, overall I tend to socialise better with anyone overseas, hardly had any issues that I recall.

    Although airports can be tricky....

  4. They very rarely approve a visa if you apply yourself as opposed to going through an agent, this has come from from agent/embassy.

I've been through exactly the same situation, gf applied herself everything in order visa refused twice, went through an agent and got the visa 1st time, it's all about who you know and the agents know everyone in the embassy, my gf was asked 1 question at the interview 'what agent did you use', unfortunately you've just got to play the game if you want the visa.

I fail to see how the truck driver could have avoided the accident, IMO he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, hardly reckless driving.
I"m sure that both drivers are heavy enough in their hearts without all of this on top.
    Truly a terrible ACCIDENT.

In England it's called 'a traffic collision' because there's  always someone at fault, as a driver of anything you should drive at the appropriate speed and leave enough gap to be able to make an emergency stop, so in the eyes of the law you could say both were at fault.

  6. Lamai every day of the week, a lot more relaxed but it's got plenty of good bars, both quiet and busy and chewang is only 15/20 minutes away always song thaews driving through the main street to hop on, plenty of good restaurants/street food at very good prices, it's low season in June so you'll get a cheap place to stay, @lamai resort is a nice place, not too expensive although you'll need a moped, there's a Welsh fella who rents out mopeds, I found him to be the cheapest, go the opposite way to chewang on the main road and he's at the top of the hill on the right hand side.

Let me know if you want any information and I'll try and help

I will save her some legal fees notwithstanding the common sense answers provided by my fellow BM's.

Not sure about TH but there is a concept of finders - keepers. You can legally find something and keep it under specific circumstances. However you can't find something in a private establishment and keep it. A 7-Eleven store is not a public place (although open to the public). Therefore, you can't find something in a 7-Eleven and keep it. IOW, it is a case of theft.

    Case closed.

In England it's classed as 'theft by finding'
