  1. Only people who pay big deposits and regular payments suffer. Hold back the money, agree terms from the beginning. And stick to it.

If they insist on more tell them to leave knowing you retained enough money to finish the job.Fair play is fine but you are not a charity.

If someone turned up at my house with a brick for a hammer and a nail for a chisel they wouldn't last 30 seconds with me.Unless I previously knew they would and I was paying them extremely little.

  2. Why have a "go" at SUV owners.......????

What has that got to do with the condition of the Promenade ........????

    just askingwai.gif

Because most of them are reckless jerks - Both Thai and foreigner. And the extra lane just gives them more freedom to continue being just that, reckless jerks.

May as well throw in all the minivan drivers too. The promenade is only one year old and already a shambles.

Also the "on ramps" just invite the local lowlifes to drive motorbikes on the promenade..

The only benefit is for the big touring companies (who have taken over control of Pattaya City ) with the extra lane that is included in overall project.

Also the "on ramps" just invite the local lowlifes to drive motorbikes on the promenade.

sorry.gif I am one of those lowlifes. Can I make it up to you ??? I know I promise not to buy a SUV, smile.png

  3. We put our flower in the Canal with many others. 2 Metres further down a group of guys in a dingy was catching them and destroying them looking for the 5 Baht coin people put inside. In clear full view of everyone.No-one seemed to care,I warned them to leave ours alone.....Once again I'm doing and thinking different to those around me.

  4. Sorry Im on the girls side. Who do MacDonalds think they are dictating an end to breakfast time.Breakfast is when I wake up not MacDonalds staff.

Is their menu so big they cannot cope to serve breakfast all day?

It was obvious someone would smashed the place up.To these girls food is serious business. They probably spend six times more on fast food than you and me so respect where respect is due. Send out the hash browns pronto!!!!

  5. you have been more happy in Thailand than anywhere else for a long time, why change now?

If you cannot afford good medical treatment and care then go back to your own country in the last weeks.

I would definitely get a second opinion. I hope you can positively make the most of your time, dont waste one day.I would like to know what you decide to do.

Make a wish list and do it.in sunny Thailand with your girl friend. wish you all the strength in the world.

  6. An American on holiday had a great day and ended up pissed. So what!

    We have all done that.

We don’t need to profile the guy. It’s probable that he has not had a good session for a long time and has now remembered the point at which to slow down the booze.

Or is he drowning his sorrows because he didn’t use a condom. Ah well ……I suppose I just profiled him.

  7. This barrage of hate towards Thai women is disgusting. They are the same as any country good and bad. There are so many brilliant women here who do not follow the money.

If you buy anything here you know the ultimate risk. Not a reason to kill yourself. The guy was full of self pity and revenge to a point he was happy to kill himself. In his depressed state it seemed the right choice for him.RIP.

But please don't drag all Thai women down to this degrading greedy personality.

I bet I can tell anyone here of 10 good story’s to every bad story that happened to them....not their mates ,not what they think, not what they read, bad story’s that happened to them.

I have met women here so kind and generous but never asked for 1 baht, for years!!!

  8. "Officers visited a number of motorcycle shops around the island looking for information on the number plate of the bike" - is this for real?

Aren't all the number plates of vehicles on The Land Transport Office data base?

Can't the police just search a computer data base for the owner of a vehicle, via its number plate?

Im sure they did but was not happy with the results so tried visiting motorcycle shops and found a lead.

but lets just slag them off regardless of what they get wrong or right.

  9. If an American citizen will earn a $ 100 tomorrow, the IRS, somehow will find out about it,

so who hard is it to trace where the funds are moving from and to and freeze it ?....

however this will be hard to do when you have rouge countries that for the sake of profit

will sell their souls to the devil........

If an American citizen will earn a $ 100 tomorrow, the IRS, somehow will find out about it,

    No they wouldnt drama queen

  10. There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man

It is a dimension as vast as space, and as timeless as infinity.

It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition. And it lies between the pith of mans fears and the summit of his knowledge.

This is the dimension of imagination; it’s an area that we call, The Twilight zone. The Thai womans mind.ph34r.png

  11. Since you don't have any solid information of value. It may be best to leave this old man alone.

Without doubt I am sure he has many painful memories about the past as do many his age.

If your assumptions are wrong then accusations will be a very cruel act. Have you thought about dealing with the aftermath when you put him through this and it comes to nothing?

Wait till you have solid information....until then stay quiet.

  12. Then why are all my favorite hotels charging higher advertised rates this year than the same months last year?

Because they are using Thai-logic... When demand is low, then raise the prices to recover the lost revenue.

when demand is low, lower your prices further........then go bust! The UK has thousands of bust companies who followed the lower your price strategy. I think just hold your price and don't panic is the best move. Thai -logic is arrogant towards pricing policies. They will advertise a vacant room ,increase its rent by whatever percent year on year, even if 10 years later they never rented the room for 1 week they would believe themselves justified.Never thinking they were asking too much ten years ago and it still applies.

All because they heard second hand that someone somewhere was getting said x amount for a similar room.

But you have to balance the books, and if that means increasing prices to cover costs so be it. Whats the alternative! put money in.....no thats just a western idea.Thai-logic does not go there.

  13. We could create change for ourselves,

step 1, don't open the taxi door begging for service. Just get in the car with your camera on mobile ready for action.

step 2, insist the meter is used then give destination.

step 3, when refused take a photo of his badge in the front .

    step 4, repeat step 2.

step 5, if refused get out and report them.

Think of it this way,if they want to treat you with contempt let them pay 1000 baht for the privilege.

And think of all those people with kids ,on very hot days, and women out late at night who desperately don't need to be refused. You will never meet these people and you will never be thanked, but you will have changed the attitude of the taxi drivers to help others.

If everyone did this it would stop this nonsense very quickly. They don't start fighting with you, they just say ok and take you, or they just say nothing and wait for you to get out. I know this from experience,I do it every time. Now does anyone have the number to report because I have 20 taxis to report. Oh and the number of the local police if they did get offensive would be a good idea to have in your phone.

maybe I sound a little bitter to taxi drivers ,and I am 100% because they think they are the mafia and we are the punks. They don't care tourists,Thai, kids, police,or anyone. They need teaching a lesson.

  14. Thick as two short planks. As useful as a chocolate fireguard. But they are really funny,do they employ ex stand up comedians at TAT.

"enjoy 24 hour Thailand Martial Law" "where going to buzz the social media" like its a latest record release. TIT come on, you know its a good laugh.Far more fun than the boring politicians of other countries.

  15. Costas are any of them fit??

Only seen 3 of them as I was invited to their wedding.

And I couldn't stop thinking.........I know you better than she does..........

Yeh thats just the point. You have given them an illusion of what their girl is about. And now they are being married. They don't know the girl they are marrying. The girls don't care they just want the money. When it all goes wrong and the truth comes out ,some guy is going to come looking for you. No one makes a "confession" about something they did good. So you already know its time to stop ........or just translate what the girls want to say, dont make the story up yourself.( its very deceitful what you're doing mate, feel sorry for the guys you are making a laughing stock of.)

  16. OP you have had a lot of negative replies from people, I cannot understand why. You find it interesting and it’s a fair question. And not a situation you want to find yourself in.

I have spoken to 4 people in Pattaya who are currently on overstay. One person over 10 years. They have some things in common.

They believe they are safe in Pattaya because they are mingled with many other farangs on holiday, and since we all look the same to Thai, they will not stand out if they keep a low key profile.

They have little money for whatever reason.

They don’t want to leave, because it’s a better life than going home.

Some have girl friends kids and wife’s they don’t want to leave. They could not afford to get back even if they were not black listed. Leaving them heart broken and their family’s heart broken.

One has run away from big family problems and cannot face it, overstay is so low on his worries.

My point is there is stronger emotional reasons, that reduce the overstay as a problem. To some extent overstay is the solution not the problem.

So if the overstay is a big problem in your thinking (which it should be) then you are doing ok. Please feel free to debate anything in your mind you want. Don’t worry about the negative people who kick you for asking a question you find interesting.

Actually, the comments are perfectly justified. Sure, your reply is fine on some levels - but people are different. He or she is not really asking for the reasons, but how they, in a moral perspective, can overstay. That in itself makes your post 100% obsolete.

    Circumstantial reasons won't apply.

OP questioned if the overstayers could be in Pattaya,I told him I knew 4. I answered how they can overstay by trying to explain ,emotional feelings can dispel any moral negative feelings about law. A guy feels its morally correct to stay and look after his kids and hope to find a solution to the overstay problem later.

You think my post is 100% obsolete. Many discussions here do diverge into totally different subjects. But you could of been a little kinder than -100%.Never mind one less xmas present I have to buy,ha.

  17. What might be a nightmare for you is obviously a walk in the park for some!

One only worries if one thinks....having met a few overstayers I know they are a little challenged in the brains department....so no worries
If I was to make a prejudicial statement from knowing no over stay people personally,

I wonder about their contribution to Thailand.

Thailand shouldn't become a haven for poor people with no other options.

I've heard some people say they have no money to stay legal. Not a good reason.

    Not good for Thailand

    Maybe I am wrong.

    I think you are wrong

where should poor people go with no options?( and there are many Thais in this situation )

let me guess ,back to their own country.

Ok then lets do swops.....1 poor person ( none Thai) in exchange for a poor Thai in the poor persons (none Thai) country. Oh how do we actually define poor.

And how can we be sure a poor person cannot contribute to people in Thailand. Does a person only contribute through cash.

I wouldn't make prejudicial statements from not knowing the group of people you are assessing.

Every country has poor people from many different countries with no visas and work permits, all contributing, often doing jobs the natives won't do.Thailand is a world leader in that department.........so you cannot say its "not good for Thailand"if it wasn't for those "poor people with no options" you desire to be removed from the country, you wouldn't be able to buy petrol.Or have your rubbish removed. Maybe you feel comfortable with this group, and was thinking more towards european poor groups.Who should not be allowed to come and share your beeches and lovely countryside.
