The first time in Thailand it’s hard to know if Thais are racist, or if it’s just a culture thing, but with time….

My experiences are that Thais are racist.

They will tolerate us for personal gain and that’s the end of it.

And many won’t even do that. Just react like you are invisible.

And a very small amount will show you clearly they don’t like you.

why buy new. a 6 to 9 month bike is a saving of easy 40% on new cost with about 4 t0 5000km on the clock. still under warranty!

dont bother with gears,auto is so easy. honda -yamaha- 100cc to 135cc cant go wrong.when you think you have found the one for you ,hire one for 3 days to see if you are happy.If you need help send me an email with pleasure

Living in Pattaya ofers so much more than the bar. But one has to make a bit of an effort. Backgammon club in Jomtien, Bowls on the Darkside. 2nd hand bookshops. Boules club. All require low levels of fitness and can be played by the beginner.

Then there is the internet. I download series, TV programmes, films and music prolifically. Haven't paid a cent for anything in 4 years.

Exercise is free. There is the track on Buddha Hill, exercise stations on the beach. Get down to the beach at Jomtien soi 7 and here is a farang band most days. Loads of guys meet there to people watch and chat in the shade. Also you have beach football, volleyball, windsurfing, jetski, powerboat competitions there regularly. All free.

If you are bored here it is your fault.

I agree there is so much to do in Pattaya for free. So many interesting places sometimes I don't believe where the time goes. You have to make an effort and plan a little. Dont forget some people work all year and save to come here for 2 Weeks. Its too easy to stop appreciating what we have. Sun ,sand ,sea ,girls good cheap food. We can have an action packed day or just stay in bed all day!

My advice to your friend would be to stop the beer, drink water for 3 weeks,give himself a slap,and start appreciating life.

Most lady-boys are a good laugh. And he probable didn't know how to handle the situation so become angry too quick.But even if I was in the same situation and judged it all wrong i would still put him (the lady-boy) on his arse the moment one foot left the ground to attach a weapon (stiletto) to his hand.Knowing it was coming for my head.

Still the lady boy in my opinion was wrong,and he should understand many people around the world don't understand his behavior.And tourist don't always know where they are or what to expect from an area.And only a few bars there are lady-boy bars anyway.Unless people really believe he came there just to hit a lady-boy.He was a molested sexually against his will on a night out by a bloke wanting to sook his cook.Most blokes I know (out side Thailand)would have hospitalized the lady boy.Or worse.

Stop using them where possible. Use trains and buses.learn the routes and how to use them.They are much cheaper and much faster than a taxi.It does take a little planning,but its a better experience than trying to work with mafia,scamming,rude,overcharging taxi drivers.

They should make the key pad plastic buttons,instead of the metal ones. It will be cheaper to make and save lives.  Then build fences with bamboo 3 ft high around the ATM s to keep kids away and stop wild soi dogs peeing on them,further saving lives.Create even more power cuts thereby turning the machines off for 3 hours every day at unspecified times further reducing deaths and ATM fraud. Pay a Cambodian 200 Baht a day, to touch the machine every hour to test it.complete with free lodgings inside the machine.Further reducing deaths to people who may be rich enough to have a bank account.( don't make a work permit available so he cannot claim any compensation later). These are good Thai logic reasoning's,oh how you make them laugh talking constantly about green wires.

I would love to get a team of 60+ expats backed up with a couple of army officers per expat. Go out and do sting operations on these taxi drivers.

When the taxi drivers are caught they should have their telephones removed and taken away for the day to be given special training. They should not be able to warn others the sting is in operation.

Not just Bangkok city but the suburbs as well.

If a driver uses the meter, accepts the fair let him drive around the corner tell him you have changed your mind and pay him 100 baht (also take his name and number for a record of a good driver)

If not…

Fine them 1000 baht (paid instantly or go to jail) 100 to the expat and 700 to pay for more officers 100 baht each to the army officers, to enforce the rules.

I think it would be easy to catch 1 every 15 mins in a 4 hour period that could be 1000 taxis

After the 4 hours, release all the drivers, pretend the sting is over, change the Expats for 60 + Thais and start all over again.

Nothing anyone has said here justifies taxi drivers being rude not using meters and over charging.

One problem is end of shift time (often just used as an excuse) and another driver waiting for his car. Customers should be allowed to sit in the air conditioned taxi while HE radios for another taxi to take the customer, then it’s still his problem while the customer is found transport.

I think the people renting the bikes should be jailed if they are caught renting a big bike to anyone without proper qualification to ride one.A legal requirement to have fully comprehensive and life insurance cover in place.

 I think a proper bike licence ( not a joke Thai one ) plus proof you have ridden a big bike,( a photo of your big bike in your yard at home etc)would cut these deaths down massively,if not close to zero. Because a real bike rider just would not get on a bike without protection,pissed,at all hours in the morning and hurl the thing down the road.

The insurance wouldn't pay out if the paper work was not done correctly and diligence by the vender carried out .SO HE WOULD HAVE TO PAY ,THEN GO TO JAIL FOR MANSLAUGHTER.    These two things would stop this situation.   These people are making good profits on over inflated bike prices when things go wrong,and then a death is a payout ,without any problems for them. I would like more detailed information about A,the accident, B,the qualifications of the riders and C who are the dealers.    Who is making money out of this!!!!!     The dealers is the answer. does any dealer renting big bikes to young kids want to debate my thinking?

tell her you have lost your job.Does she know which pawn shops pay the most for laptops?And can she help you find somewhere cheap to live.Can she help you with the deposit on a new place?Tell her you love her very much and have dumped your other girl friend.tell her you need 10,000 baht to pay for your monthly visa. ask her if its possible to go live with her family to save HER money.   Be very serious 

Why don't you just ring and ask the company.........What is the procedure and what are your options. Only they can give you a straight answer.

You obviously have not got the money right now, so think up a reasonable payment plan offer you can afford. And a reasonable excuse why you have fallen behind with payments. Be proactive and talk to them. At the end of the day if you cannot afford it let it go.

You can always get a cheap runaround later. A car is not worth the stress if you are struggling to keep up payments. If your circumstances have changed then cut your cloth accordingly. All the best of luck.

I’m also sorry you believe the UK is a small wet and boring island, particularly England. If you could spend two months with me touring the UK. I have noticed over the last 4 weeks in Pattaya north area, the dogs have become more intense and nasty to other dogs and people. I don’t know if the bitches have come in season, but there is more chance of an attack at the moment. Only just this evening a Thai guy was surrounded by 5 dogs barking at him while he held his poodle over his head. Both frozen with fear. Four Thai taxi drivers 6 foot away did nothing, just watched emotionless.( I thought they must think he is falang ).I split it up by driving my motorbike between them and sounding the horn.

On Naklua road, just past portisan road, on the left there is some waste ground opposite the school .I stopped and counted 27 dogs chilling out there last Wednesday. There is no control here or any serious desire to deal with the problem. I am a dog lover and have always had dogs. But this situation needs a serious cull and the dogs need to be humanely disposed of. Humans are top of the food chain, our kids definitely come before wild dogs.
