You must not know anyone in Thailand then.

Unbelievable the amount of venom that can be spewed by so few negative trolls. Have a look at posts in other threads from these trolls, negative, no matter what the subject.
For the majority on here who have at least tried to understand Michaels situation. He was a paramedic in his home country, not a pedo or criminal as suggested by the trolls. He came to Thailand in 1998, a year before me. He worked on a business visa with work permit for a large medical equipment distributor, and was quite good in his profession. He studied Thai speaking and reading also studied Thai law regarding business. In 2011/12 he was screwed over and set up, after that he was unable to get a visa.
Again back at the negpats, he may have been illegal in your eyes but was respected by the law makers here. He has received a small fine and yes, he will be deported. He will not be going to IDC, a couple of friends are getting a flight for him next week and immi are going to take him direct to the airport.

1 minute ago, Oldie said:He obviously didn't care about laws very much. Such Farangs just create problems for all that obey to the rules. It is hard for me to understand why you want to protect an individual that doesn't care even about the most simple laws. Please Thailand deport him and do not allow him to come back. We don't need such people creating problems for all the many who follow the rules.
Why don't you both enlighten us all on what he did that hurt you or anyone else.

He is a giver not a taker, helped others and rarely asked for help with anything.

He is a well liked man, has always gone out of his way to help people, both Thai and foreigner. Most of us knew of his visa situation, so I doubt he was grassed up.

I'm due for my 90 day on the weekend so I called my local immi and asked about the need to come. She told me it is not necessary in the amnesty period but as it is only 20 minutes up the road and takes less than a minute to process, it is better for all if I do come. Good excuse to get out and about too.

Tell her you will continue helping out if she gives you a 30 year lease on the land to protect your investment.

I built our place near Ubon in 2012 from Qcon blocks. Luckily my son is an architect and I got a lot of good advice from him. I did get a great builder after looking at several of his previous builds in the area. We negotiated a price per sq mtr and I made sure I did all the materials purchasing, he did come along in support. We agreed on progress payments. small one at start, another at slab completion, another at roof completion and the final when we were able to move in.
Strongly suggest damp course liner between slab and blocks, bio septic not concrete rings, 7" guttering if available in your area, down pipes at each corner of the roof (including the entry). As previously stated, you can never have too many power points. I had 4 double power points in each room, had a great electrician, he did all 3 core wiring tubed and recessed in the walls. Minimum 1.8 metre copper earth/ground in a moist soil.
Good luck, it can be fun and frustrating at the same time.

There is no "The rule".
The governor of Prachuap province has made it a rule, 20k baht fine if caught without a mask. They have had a 7pm to 7am curfew for over a week as well.

Poor analogy - sea levels are currently rising at their fastest level since records began. And the Arctic and Antarctic are melting 6 times faster than they were in the 1990s. But yes, I get your point that this COVID-19 event may be looked back as a mere tremor before the actual "earthquake" of runaway climate change and ecological breakdown.
You might want to check this link about no substantial rise in sea levels in the last 140 years

You are correct, as of July one your visa has to be re stamped every 30 days. Latest info is, if you have a 3 month visa, you can extend it in country for $10 USD two times. You must then leave and re enter at the 90 day mark.

Not worth the risk/hassle, just leave the property to her or the child in a legal will. Her family circumstances may change at any time in the future and you will always come second to family in Thailand.

This has been going for a while now. Local cops have been told that they must know what foreigners are in their jurisdiction in case something happens to them. Naturally they have to have pics to prove to the boss that they have contacted you. Nothing sinister at all, smile and be friendly, it may help in the future.

Now down in PKK, luvverly quality of the air to breath.
Visited the Top Deck for my evening meal, good aussie steak, tasted better than most I have had in Thailand.
Ask the waitress how many Frangs fall down the stairs, nice smile and giggle.
Looking forward to 2 quite months down the blunt end and very nice small hotel I am staying in.
John
Thank you John, happy you enjoyed our place and hope you enjoy the rest of your stay. The staff here are way too happy, I must pay them too much.

I feel for you, but I think you are doing all the right things. Stay out of the country until she gets locked up, keep sending just enough to support grannie and the kids. Most importantly, block all contacts with her and her friends. Knowing what she is up to will eat at you night and day.
Best wishes and good luck.
