Get the nod on April 1st..........of course. If it wasn't so serious, it would be laughable. This government can't organise a p**-up in a brewery.

all bars and clubs closed and no alcohol served in restaurants for 4/5 weeks now in Hua Hin.
massage was closed, gyms still closed, schools. schools will open Feb 1.
In Hua Hin, pubs and bars have been closed from 31st December and restaurants not allowed to serve alcohol from 3rd January, to be exact.
But in truth, most of it has simply moved underground, or rather, inside, which defeats the object and actually makes the situation with regards to the possible spread of infection worse. Furthermore, some restaurants are clearly and blatantly serving alcohol and the MiB do nothing.
The whole lockdown thing is a joke, either enforce it thoroughly and properly, or simply don't bother. We're just lucky we are not all dropping like flies.

there is a good article in the BkPost about how Thailand tried to sell itself as a covid-free haven and no-one came. The only solution might be to drop the 14-day requirement but I don't think that's popular with anyone outside the tourist industry
Link?

Talking about restrictions: What is the point to allow restaurants to serve food, but no alcohol, other than to hurt the restaurant sector even more?
With that reasoning, why can't bars open? The fact of the matter is that allowing restaurants to serve alcohol turns them into bars, when the bars are closed. That is certainly not fair on the bar owners. Until bars are allowed to open, then restaurants should not be allowed to sell alcohol. End of.

If you are sitting in a bar alone having a beer then no ploblem, some bars where I live get quite busy and people congregate so no social distancing
So enforce social distancing. Last time some restaurants I know simply turned into bars with the same lack of social distancing. So what's the difference?

There is nothing wrong with restaurants selling alcohol providing it is managed correctly QED
Absolutely and the same applies to pubs and bars, but as usual, when the bars and pubs are closed, the restaurants take their place and take the p**s. It is patently unfair to allow restaurants to sell alcohol whilst the pubs and bars are closed. So I am fine with a ban on the sale of alcohol for consumption within restaurants, until such time as all licenced premises are allowed to sell alcohol for consumption on the premises again.

why the ban on alcohol in restaurants again?
is it still relating to that 3am nightclub incident where people shared a drink on the dancefloor?
Why should pubs and bars be forced to close, but allow restaurants to sell alcohol? As before, in the 3 days that this was the case, the restaurants took the p**s & became bars. Personally I think they should lockdown the whole lot. Not sure if COVID differentiates between people eating or drinking alcohol.
Of course the really stupid thing is that massage parlours are still allowed to operate. I'm pretty sure people get a lot more up close and personal in them than in most bars and restaurants.

25% of practically nothing, is still practically nothing. It does show a healthy imagination though, or should that be an unhealthy massaging of figures? I think I'll go for the massage, it might have a happy ending.

I've got a feeling Thais who haven't voted for a few years are ineligible to vote too. Should they also be exempted?
Everyone who wants to be exempted should be allowed to be. Ridiculous law.

well, it was a line in bad taste, I don't think she put much forethought in that, honest "oops", nothing to make something big out of it.
choosing the wrong people to play transgenders though is a criticism I share. transgenders we generally see on TV are rarely very feminine looking, and none I saw so far can rival with the most beautiful transgenders seen in cabaret shows.
maybe there is a problem with "kiss" scenes and the subsequent gossip "look! actor X kissed a man". but actors can accept or reject scenarios, and I would expect at least a number of actors to be professional enough to not have a problem with it.
where it becomes puzzling, is that even in the Western TV world, we just don't see very feminine looking transgenders in these roles. I watched a bit the US series "Pose", and all transgenders shown are "obvious", none could be mistaken for a woman.
I agree. I also maintain the the best looking 'women' in Thailand are actually men, and if a 'woman' looks unbelievably stunning, then 'she's' likely to be a man. So beware! 555

Hello,
I am in Thailand now and plan to renew my Retirement Visa next month December.
I would like to travel to UK in January.
My question is ' Are Retirement Visa holder now allowed to return to Thailand?
Noted a Certificate of Entry is required from the UK Thailand embassy.
If it is not allowed to return I will cancel my trip
Many thanks for the information provided by Thai Visa members.
Sorry if this has been asked recently.
Thanks in Advance
It is not a 'retirement visa'. It is an extension of stay for the purposes of retirement. When will people learn?
With regards to the question though, yes, people with retirement extensions on 'O' and 'OA' visas are now being allowed to re-enter Thailand. Assuming, of course, that the original retirement extension is still valid and you have a re-entry permit, which should have been arranged before you left Thailand.

Reading your post has given me a side spitting laughter session.
You clearly have not read all the posts on this thread, as i clearly stated in Buriram prison you get 2 meals a day not 3, and the food was utter sh++e, no way was any more than 15/20 baht used per meal.
Now here is something for you and others to think about....Government schools are allowed 20 baht per meal for school lunches, so there is no way on this earth prisons are allowed 162 baht per day, if you believe that, i got a bridge for sale.
????
Whether I believe it or not is irrelevant. I was simply quoting what they said. I can also have a 'side splitting laughter session' about it as well, but my point didn't infer that I believed it, I was simply commenting on what they said. Read, digest and then comment mate.

“All meal plans are notified to inmates in advance,..."
"...the department has been allocated a budget of only Bt54 per inmate per meal for three meals [a] day, which includes both ingredients and fuel costs,..."
54 baht a day, that's 18 baht per meal.
You can't even get a bowl of noodles for that at a street stall.
Yet, the department assures that everything is above board and that prison food is *not* substandard and that is all oh so nutritious.
Heck, they even issue "meal plans".
One can only surmise what these "meal plans" might look like:
MONDAY
Breakfast - fish head soup
Lunch - fish head soup
inner - fish head soup
TUESDAY
Breakfast - pork cartilage in watery rice soup
Lunch - pork cartilage in watery rice soup
Dinner - pork cartilage in watery rice soup
(to our Muslim inmates we serve sheep cartilage instead)
etc.
Read carefully before commenting. It quite clearly states 54 baht PER MEAL for 3 meals a day. So that 162 baht per day. If I chose to do so, I could easily live on that on the outside.

So in effect like many Thais who don't even have the basic insurance which let's face it is a sad joke anyway and offers virtually zero help to any third party, but I bet he at least wears a helmet unlike the vast majority and has working lights, doesn't ride 3 up drive down the sidewalks etc etc The training he will have received in the UK far outweighs the comedy laws here.
Fair comment. But two wrongs don't make a right and you can bet your bottom dollar that the MIB will come down rather harder on him than on a Thai.

Just use an International Licence, I'm from England, we have had CBT and restrictions in place for years, I've been riding and driving in Thailand for 16 years with an International, never had a problem (and riden high power bikes since I was tall enough to touch the ground when stationary) it's really just a translation of your native licence. I don't ever intend getting a Thai licence.......
Then if you have been driving for more than three months, on each separate occasion you visit, you have been driving/riding illegally and without insurance, hotshot. But I guess you think that is clever?
