Really ? Every bar I’ve ever drunk in I can go into tomorrow. May be behind a shutter for some but many many bars are blatantly open - where do you live ?

Golf courses are empty - sheer bliss !

    Covid has a silver lining

Really? Maybe that's something you shouldn't be spouting off about.  We all know of bars where we can get a drink, illegally, but there can be consequences to that and to imply that 'EVERY bar you've ever drunk in' you can get a drink in now, is fantasy.    Maybe you meant every bar you ever GOT drunk in?  Although that would probably be quite a lot, so most likely fantasy as well.   Good luck, don't get caught. 555

Pfizer IS recognized as an approved vaccine for foreign travelers entering Thailand.  He will have no problems having been vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine.

You are confusing two different things, vaccines that are recognized as approved for people entering Thailand and vaccines that are approved by the Thai FDA for administration to people in Thailand.  Those are two separate things.

    https://www.traveldailymedia.com/thailand-approves-8-vaccines-for-foreign-travellers/

You are absolutely right.  Thank you for correcting me..

Not correct. If you don't know, please don't post.

I said ' Pfizer is not a vaccine that is approved for use in Thailand yet'  This IS correct.

    https://covid19.trackvaccines.org/country/thailand/

However, in the context of the original post, on which I commented, my comment was possibly misleading, because I did not mention that Pfizer was accepted for persons entering Thailand.

NO, you need to fly directly onto Phuket. Thai is at the moment selling tickets from four European cities. You need a COE, probably also the mandatory C-19-insurance, and a "rapid antigen tests, or reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT- PCR) tests, at their place of origin, and to register on www.gophuget.com and the MorChana application".

You can read more HERE, which ti my knowledge is the latest reliable information coming from National News Bureau of Thailand (i.e. the government).

Not correct.  You can transit via Bangkok, as long as you don't change airports.  I really do wish that people would get their facts right before they post misleading information.

many people that have been unable to return to thailand for the past year will use the sandbox

    NOT just tourists

7 nights on a beautiful empty island sure beats 14 nights locked in a hotel room somewhere

I agree, but I'm not convinced that there will be many 'REAL' tourists.  As a means to return to Thailand it sounds much more feasible and I have friends who are already looking into it.  Anything would be better than 14 days in an ASQ prison.

The purpose of the Phuket sandbox is prepare Thai public opinion for the idea that fully-vaccinated tourists, from countries will low levels of active cases, pose no biological threat to them.

I believe the Thai government are hoping to re-open the other destinations, in particular Bangkok, far more quickly than they have dared to announce so far. I believe that, during July, they will annouce that the Phuket sandbox has proved to be such a success that, starting on the 1st of August, they are re-opening the whole country to fully-vaccinated tourists with vaccine passport, and dropping all covid-related restrictions such as quarantines, expensive tests, the 7-day rule, CoEs, special insurance etc.

Personally, I would wait one month because things may change rapidly. I would not want to have to stay in Phuket for a week or have a false-positive PCR result in me having an expensive two-week stay in hospital. I would come back when they accept that the vaccination passport is enough, as it appears the US and EU are planning to do. I expect most of the world to follow their lead this summer.

I hope you are right, but I fear not.  We shall see, but if I was a betting man, I would say the Phuket Sandbox will be delayed.  I'm thinking that maybe January 2022 is the earliest we will see things returning to anything like past normality.  I look forward to being proven wrong, but I won't be holding my breath.

We dont have a jury in the Netherlands either. Let professionals judge not juries.

I absolutely agree.  Would you select 12 random numskulls, unskilled in the field, to analyse a technical piece of electronic equipment and give their opinion on it?  No of course not and that's a similar analogy to randomly picked, unskilled numbskulls, making a decision on evidence in a criminal trial.

What happened to the app they were banging on about yesterday?

Windows 95 playing up again? ????

They clearly explained that the app would not now be developed, because of the difficulty of collating all foreigners, as they are registered on multiple databases. Whether you think this is acceptable or not, they gave the explanation, so maybe it would be an idea to read the whole article before you comment?

I understand the need to vaccinate the elderly first, age 60+ but each age group should include all nationalities... we all have the same chance of being infected or infecting others do we not?

Thailands approach of Thais first foreigners last should be tackled by all embassy ambassadors as totally racist and unacceptable.

Absolutely correct, it should be based on age and medical condition regardless of race.  There is no differentiation between races in the two countries I am connected with,  the UK and Australia.  But with regards to that being a racist decision, yes I guess it is, but racism is something farangs encounter every day of the week in Thailand, so it becomes normal and we either have to get on with it or get out.  There will be no changing the Thais.

Nice video, enjoyed seeing around HH...gotta say though, it's pretty obvious, if bars are closed, they're ain't gonna be any customers or people there...same as doing a video of a football ground when a game isn't being played...it would be empty...

That's absolutely the point being made, there are no people here, because everything is closed.  And everything is closed because of COVID and because of this governments inept and laissez faire attitude to dealing with the crisis i.e. not thinking ahead and planning a vaccination scheme, because they thought they had it licked.

Just what we need for the image of foreigners in Thailand...oh brother. hit him with 6000 baht fine...if he transgresses again....throw him out

I couldn't agree more, but I would go further. Fine him the maximum 20000 and deport him immediately, but don't forget to give the arrogant c**t  a couple of smacks in the mouth as well. Farang's like him give us all a bad reputation.

  12. Good luck.  Cornwall is a particularly lovely place to live and you seem to have purchased a nice old cottage to live in.

Personally, I want to remain living in Thailand and I live in hope that the Thai authorities will get their act together soon, before we suffer the same fate as other countries like Brazil and India.  Or indeed, go through what they had to go through initially in the UK.
