DPM Anutin: Thailand is able to handle Omicron variant
mikosan replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Delusional <deleted>. -
I'm out all the time as well, mate. I even own a bar. The fact that you were drinking in a 'Bar' doesn't mean it was legal. If you could be bothered to check you will find that my previous post was absolutely correct. BARS IN THAILAND ARE NOT LEGALLY ALLOWED TO OPEN. Yes, of course they are open, but that wasn't the question. People like you, who post <deleted> really <deleted> me off. Merry Xmas.

Impossible. Prayut said he would stop it from coming. 555

Following the publication of this article https://www.huahintoday.com/hua-hin-news/restaurants-in-cha-am-allowed-to-serve-alcohol/?fbclid=IwAR14mX3lm2H1GwZxMjhKN4Ot5Q7_tNueHnWpUbX2_g3NTxNOFYfc7YyL7gE and the implications with regards to Hua Hin, which is basically connected to Cha Am, a bit like a smaller version of Perth and Freemantle, I did a bit of research and I came across this article https://www.tatnews.org/2021/12/thailand-increases-blue-zone-destinations-to-26-eases-more-covid-19-curbs-nationwide/?fbclid=IwAR11MEeExVGjzmrNxK12W1ievtuWusUgnmyFu895lsFlmLbewqXARm7n6A8 It would seem that Hua Hin and Nong Kae are now also in Blue Zones, whilst the rest of Prachuabkhirikhan remains in a red zone. The wording is ambiguous, but it would seem that restaurants in blue zones can 'open normally'. Quite what that means is subject to conjecture, but logically wouldn't that mean the service of alcohol? The article clearly states that 'the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages for dine-in customers remain prohibited in the orange and red zones'. But Hua Hin and Nong Kae, whilst still in a red zone, are specifically classified as being exceptions and now in a blue zone. The same applies to Cha Am, which is in Petchaburi, an orange zone. And also to Pattaya, which is now a blue zone exception, in the orange zone of Chonburi. But this is Thailand and very little is logical here, so I fully expect this ambiguity to be refuted tomorrow. We shall see, but if it isn't, maybe the governor of Petchaburi is right and if I owned a restaurant, I might consider knocking the tops off a few beer bottles and pouring some wine into wine glasses, openly rather than surreptitiously, as they do now. .

SURVEY: Should Thailand lift restrictions on alcohol sales?
mikosan replied to Scott's topic in Thailand News
Just open everything up. If they must keep something closed, then keep the clubs closed for the moment, but I see no problem with allowing bars and restaurants to open normally. Let's be honest here, many are open and serving illegally anyway, thereby defeating the objective, which is 1. Try to control COVID, and 2. The suppression of the people, which is far more important it seems. -
Anutin speaks out on the unvaccinated possibly facing restrictions

Fine by me. -
Anutin speaks out on the unvaccinated possibly facing restrictions
mikosan replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Absolutely. And let's not forget that unvaccinated people have a greater chance of serious illness and dying, so, bearing in mind that vaccinated people do carry and pass on the disease, it is better for the unvaccinated to avoid contact with vaccinated people, so they should stay at home, for their own well-being. Or they can go and get vaccinated. Makes perfect sense and is completely acceptable to me. -
Local community comes together to clean Hua Hin beach
mikosan replied to webfact's topic in Hua Hin and Cha-Am News
Who cleans a beach in long trousers and/or a collar and tie? Pathetic photo opportunity, making a mockery of a good cause that is already being practised by a group of people, predominantly ex-pats, called Hua Hin Trash Heroes, who do a great, but undersung, job. https://trashhero.org/network/huahin/ Keep up the good work and many thanks to you. -

Health officials warn drinkers not to breach COVID-19 rules
mikosan replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Permitted or not, alcoholic drinks are being openly and illegally served throughout Thailand and have been for the last 7 months. That's what makes a complete mockery of the closure of bars and pubs and not allowing restaurants to sell alcohol, other than recently, in the few specified places. The trade has simply gone underground, often hidden behind locked doors, so as a COVID prevention measure the whole situation is a joke. But some people, like the corrupt cops, are getting VERY rich, whilst the average Thai, who was previously employed in the industry, or associated industries, becomes poorer and more destitute by the day. It is a disgraceful situation, exacerbated by totally incompetent, multi-layered governance, by people like The Department of Health’s Director-General, Suwanchai Wattanayingcharoenchai, quoted above.- 31 replies

Is anyone surprised? Hua Hin has been sold down the river again, along with Pattaya and Chiang Mai. Promises from the government broken, as usual, and preferential treatment given to Bangkok. The new governor of Prachuabkhirikhan needs to pull his fist out of his *rse and get things moving. He could start by opening the schools on 15th November, not simply 'thinking' about it.

Bangkok to allow alcohol in restaurants but only until 9pm
mikosan replied to Jonathan Fairfield's topic in Bangkok News
Precisely my point. So what is the point in keeping everything closed? -
Precisely. Being vaccinated doesn't mean you can't catch COVID, but at least the tourists have tested negative. Many Thais are wandering around with COVID, infecting others, because they can't afford not to work. So therefore it stands to reason that the tourists who are negative have more chance of catching COVID from Thais who we have no idea whether they are negative or positive. Or is that too hard for you to understand?

Health Standard Required for Bangkok Eateries Selling Liquor
mikosan replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
Your information is incorrect. This information was publicly released on the 30th October. Not only that, there was an article in the Bangkok Post that day as well. https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/2206683/city-hall-alcohol-in-restaurants-only-until-9pm?fbclid=IwAR38MBuhcl_iYB9FU2-EbkOInhDHCctf51JQun2td_TH6X7DQThJKiees1E -

The true fact is that the ban is not being enforced, so there is no point in it being there. This is Soi 7, Bangkok, on the evening of 29th October 2021. Soi 7 Bangkok, 29th October 2021.mp4 -
Businesses in Thailand urge government to reverse alcohol ban
mikosan replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I agree. Most simply pay the cops and off they go. So someone is making money, whilst many businesses go to the wall and families reliant upon them become destitute. It's a sad state of affairs, but don't kid yourselves that the government or the hi-so's care, the situation doesn't affect them in any way at all. -
You have a high opinion of yourself and your fellow teachers at this 'prestigious' school, I hope you are worth it. By the way, you mean your kids can now be taught online for free? Don't you agree that interaction between children at school is a very important part of education? The children are not getting that, so why are the fees not being reduced in many of these schools?
