  1. Even worse: drove to Phu Rua two months ago, ready to pay the farang fee to find the park closed for 3 days, reason: royal family visit....

This happens in the west also when QE2 or the Presidents of countries visit , it's called security.

  2. Good to see the riff raff creeping out of the woodwork all of a sudden.

Immigration seem to be doing something right at last.

Oh yes, you so high and mighty so n so A guy staying to take care of his sick child is most definitely riff raff. He should be lumped in with the sex tourists and others here, publicly flogged and deported!

I was in a similar circumstance 2 1/2 years ago when my son was born and immediately transferred to ICU. It wasn't by choice that I overstayed, it was simply that my love for my son (as appears to be the case above) far outweighed the need to adhere to the laws. After my son was released and had made a full recovery and received a final clearance from the treating doctors (9 months later), I went through immigration showing them the documentation of my son's illness. They were more concerned about him than my overstay. Paid the fine came back 3 days later.

I highly recommend the guy above do the same, as although immigration are strict, they too are human and have compassion.... unlike many of the so called "civilized" westerners who post their vitriolic "anti-everyone except them and their hangers-on and the p!ss-poor countries they come from is DA-best" crud here!

Pity the high and mighty self righteous wouldn't crawl INTO the woodwork...right before it is burnt to ashes

Okay, rant over. Apologies to those who don't fit the category

with all due respect what you claim is nonsense. It was your choice to overstay. You had the option of paying to extend your stay legally. The reason behind your decision to break the law is irrelevant.

Irrelevant to you perhaps.. as I replied elsewhere

"Yes, hindsight is a great thing. but once I had made the decision to overstay to be with my boy, I'll admit I was scared to bite the bullet and maybe not be allowed back in to be with him while he recovered from all the procedures he underwent. I don't deny anywhere that it was anyone's but my own choice and fault. I made the decision and paid for it. I pray no-one else has to be in the same situation but will say, if I could go back in time, I would do exactly the same thing under those circumstances."

And in all that time you could not be bothered to go get it cleared up. Sorry your son was in ICU, but hospitals will furnish paperwork in most instances, and a family member can even take that to immigration. I myself have helped others stay right with immigration.

  4. Update; I just called Nut. She said they have 2 units so far and isn't sure how many they will need. She thinks distance is going to be an issue for getting the blood to her husband. I'm trying to find out if the Red cross have an emergency transport service for donated blood like they do in some countries. Will update as info comes back to me.

Meanwhile if anyone is closer to Chonburi and has O Neg please call her.

  5. Some of these fine terrorists are probably headed to a country near you. Of course, then you'll be upset that the US didn't take them out.

Actually, NO Credo, I'll be very satisfied that the armed forces of the country the "terrorists are heading to" near me take care of them without need for the collateral damage and invasive tactics committed by the YOO ESS EH?

  6. '"After all, those killed were British subjects living in a British Protected State. They, and their families, have a right to meaningful British justice."' Yet they live in a country whose own current-day human rights record is nothing to write home about.

So what? Yes Malatsia's Human rights are questionable. Usually questioned by the "world powers and upholders of blah blah blah" INCLUDING BRITAIN which has an abysmal record of its own. They should be held accountable, especially considering they and their subjects get on their soap box to preach about other countries! Just a question, you wouldn't be a Brit by any chance?

  7. "blackshirt militants" = government false flag operation to provide "justification" for the use of deadly force against unarmed civilians

Where are the dead blackshirts and where is the direct evidence linking them to the protesters?

Yeah isn't it amazing that all the soldiers who died, died from being hit by rocks not by bullets from these numerous gun-wielding militants.

    .

ROCKS??!! Seriously??....Try grenades and bullets...supply one, genuine report of death by rocks..or crawl back under your ROCK !

I think Lorn was being sarcastic referring to the other ill informed post

  8. In another TV thread it was reported that 3 THAI girls in Buriram or Surin (can't remember) were arrested for dancing provacatively and wearing skimpy clothing but covered. The usual sex tourist attituded TV people posted comments such as "They can dance at my place" etc.

Now when the Thais complain about a couple of farangs, one completely nude, TV users scream hypocrisy. What a sorry bunch some of the members here are.

Can they walk around their hometown naked or drop out their chest ornaments in the middle of their cities without causing an uproar? Don't think so.

    Fined, first plane out. Simple.

  9. Unfortunately this kind of heinous crime is far too common all round the world, it is not specifically a Thai issue but seems more prevalent where the female has a lower standing in society than the male.

India springs to mind as one of the area's where the rural population are less well educated, the number of (reported) incidents away from the most populist area's has increased greatly over the last few years.

As with drug smugglers and those who carry out premeditated murder, I fear an imposition of capital punishment for the worst cases may be necessary.

Something must be done to shock those that see rape as acceptable, something must be done to bring about in change to attitudes and bring them round to a more modern appreciation of life and personal dignity...

It does indeed happen all over the world, but there is the usual Thai twist in the tail. 'Later, she reported the attempted rape to her village headman, asking his intervention to take legal action and negotiate compensation payment'. In Thailand it is always about the money.

Not only Thailand about the money. Many shining light western countries have criminal compensation for victims of crime. In Oz for example that payment is on top of what the victim is awarded in civil court. And why shouldn't someone be compensated for a criminal act inflicted on them?

  10. WOW. There are some very strange people around here.

Taking the word of a Thai after they gang attack another tourist?

What do you expect these criminals to say? Sheeesh.

And the word of the Finnish guy whose girlfriend was SEXUALLY ASSAULTED by the supposed victim.

Som num nar and wish he'd copped a real flogging.

  11. While I agree that a lot of transport here is sub-standard, it makes me sick that so many TV experts will use tragedies as an excuse to bash Thailand, Thais, Thai culture etc.

Many years ago I was working on a tuna vessel in West Oz, it had just passed survey (a yearly requirement back then) The engine room and indeed the whole vessel looked to be ship-shape (bad pun intended)

We were 400 nautical miles south of Albany in the southern ocean when the skipper came and woke me to say there was a "bit of a leak" in a raw sea-water intake pipe. I went down saw the leak and tried to plug it with a wooden plug. When I tapped it into the hole, it went straight through and turned the "bit of a leak" into a gushing hole! The pipe was so badly corroded it was like paper.

Long story short, turned around, jerry-rigged the deck was pumps and every pump we could to help the bilge pumps keep up. We got back to Albany with only 18 inches of free board left and our rectums twitching!

Moral is that you cannot possibly see inside every component of an engine, vehicle, vessel, aircraft.

Engines vibrate and can cause fuel and other lines to stress fracture. A fuel or oil line rupture or similar spraying onto hot exhaust can happen in the blink of an eye and cause an explosion and fire.

So instead of bemoaning and criticizing Thailand for this, be sure you can guarantee the 100% AS NEW condition of EVERY vessel, train, plain, truck, bicycle and home appliance in your home countries where obviously you have daily inspections and x-ray fracture testing before you leave home.

  12. Yay........

Wondering also, If it rains during songkran, do they move the festivities indoors?

Perfect timing and delivery slipperylobster! I was at the pool with Mrs Unky, our son and some friends this afternoon. It started to bucket down and the pool emptied of people except us in the blink of an eye. Our friends were asking the missus "Why you swim in rain? You crazy! You catch cold!"

    Aaahhhh I love Thailand.

  13. in ko tao murder, he said the victim exposed themselves indecently, but here in those fat women, it is ok ?

wow, saw the video, a taxi driver speaks as good english as him ...

it's good to take the power, no don't have to prove anything about your worthiness

So in your opinion worthiness gets down to being able to speak your or another language? Gee I guess there are a lot of peace keeper and Nobel peace laureates that aren't worthy then..
