  1. Full kudos to you Traveler. Surely earned the Sangsoms! smile.png

I was there. I'm actually in that video, but hard to see. My girlfriend and I had left my motorcycle to be washed, then walked to Kad Suan Keaw mall to kill the hour and a half it was going to take to get the bike detailed. We had gone into Tops Market on the ground floor to get a few things, and when we came out, everyone was standing around looking up. The area right outside of Tops is where the escalators are, and it's an open atrium up to the fourth floor. I looked up but could only see a little kid looking over the railing on the top floor and crying. My girlfriend asked a Thai what was going on, and she was told that some farang had gotten into a huge fight with his Thai wife, then had grabbed both kids and gone to the top floor where he was threatening to throw the kids off, then jump himself. I looked up again and now I could see the guy standing at the edge of the railing holding another, smaller child in his arms and screaming incoherently. I looked around and no one was doing anything, so I told my girlfriend to stay put, then I ran up the escalators to the top floor. When i got up there the guy was screaming at everyone to stay away. Not many people were up there, so I eased up to where the guy was and tried to see if it looked like he was serious. He was. He was standing on a bench that was placed against the railing, with one foot on the bench and one on the railing, swaying back and forth. Twice he swung the kid in his arms toward the railing, like he was going to throw him, then brought him back. He started yelling at his wife about how she had taken everything from him and now he was going to take from her. It sounded to me like he was trying to work up the "courage" to jump. I was standing about fifteen feet from him and I called to him and just started telling him that he was right, that his wife was wrong, and that whatever she had done she had obviously wronged him. He looked at me and took a step back, started listening to me. He said that she had taken all his money and now wouldn't let him see his kids. He had nothing left and nothing to live for. Then he turned and started screaming down at her again. He said he was going to hurt her, at which point he swung the kid toward the railing again. I yelled at him that he need to let his kids grow up, that when they were older they would realize that he was right, that their mom had taken them away, and that he was a good dad, but that he needed to let them live to grow up. I told him that if she had stolen his money that he needed to tell the police. He said the cops wouldn't listen to him, that now they would just lock him up. I told him, no, they would listen, he just needed to talk to him. I just figured that if the guy thought that someone understood him, and sided with him, he might wind it down a notch.

I was totally winging it. I just wanted to keep the guy talking, to get his mind off of jumping. He was totally wired, and I was really afraid that he was going to shove those kids over. In the link below you can see a cop walking in front of him. I'm out of sight off to the left. I couldn't see the little dude in the red jacket because the farang was between me and him. I just tried to keep the guy talking, and then the guy in red came up and pulled him away from the railing. You can see me in the white t-shirt and white ball cap. The kids were whisked away to their mom. I later saw them downstairs with their mom, and she thanked me. Several posters have indicated that it was no big deal, that the kids weren't in danger. Trust me, it was a very big deal. And yeah, it took twenty people to hold him down. He may have been on something, but he was very strong. The cops finally got the cuffs on him and led him away. I was shaking like a leaf, lol. Took me several SangSoms to wind down.

    Here's a better angle. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=1414161595560173

  2. They could have knocked the kid over the wall through their actions.

So what would you suggest, just stand idly by to wait to see if the @rsehoel throws the child over...then perhaps you'd be complaining that the "gutless Thais should have done something"

What the hell is wrong with some people on this forum. All they want to do is stick it to Thailand and Thais.

    See you all later

  3. Neighbours said he often attacked his wife after losing the job.

Did anybody ever bother to call the police amid any of those prior beatings?

Did the wife ever consider leaving the abusive husband while she had a chance?

Your 20/20 hindsight is a wonderful gift.

How many times would you submit to being beaten by an abusive spouse before you'd decide to not take it anymore???

It's quite common for victims of spousal abuse to stay with the abuser for a few reasons.

    A misplaced sense of loyalty.

    Because children are involved.

Because the abuser is the only form of support or income they have.

For fear of reprisals from the abuser.

  4. Why can't Thai's write a story that don't sound like some retard wrote it.? have to read twice to figure out what the hell there trying to tell you.

Strangebrew, as others have already pointed out your own iniquities regarding your post, I'll refrain. However, to you and others who often complain about this, I will say that the articles are one of two things.

    A) Translated. Meaning that as with any translation, you get the translator's interpretation of the original document. If they are "unfortunate" enough to only have English as a second language, there may be some mistakes with grammatical accuracy.

    B) Written by non native English speakers who are simply doing their best with the level of education they have received.

Either way, there IS an alternative available to you. Learn to read Thai. That way you can read the articles in their original form as written by Thai native speakers.

If you do decide to take this option, please translate and post the articles for us to read with your perfect grammar and spelling.

  5. A group of guys attacked someone. Why are their nationalities so important in this assault?

You know that many on this forum cannot resist a gratuitous bit of "Brit bashing"........

    What's your point?

    Sorry, I hadn't realised that you were slow-witted !

To put it another way; the poor Frenchman were attacked by thugs and those thugs need to feel the full force of the law. The nationality of the thugs (or indeed the victims) is irrelevant.

    Is that clearer?

Didn't need clarification, however, when so many on here like to bemoan the lack of testicles and the thug / gang mentality of Thais, it does seem fitting to state the nationality of the thugs concerned. If it hadn't been mentioned, I would bet my bottom baht that the TV crew would have been saying words along the lines of "gutless Thai blokes' "why can they never fight one on one" blah blah blah....ad nauseum

  6. Beats me why this draft dodging, punch drunk, stumble bum gets

so much attention. He refused to serve in the US military on the grounds his new " religion" forbade it, evaded taxes & wouldn't have scrambled brains if he had listened to sports doctors who told him to stop boxing.

Probably gets so much attention for being a true champion instead of some sniping nobody who berates people for their beliefs, mocks them for their sports injuries and makes allegations from the safety of a keyboard on the other side of the world.

  7. "Interesting how a post of a disgraced USA commander who lacks the moral values to make the right judgement and practice integrity would be steered into a Chinese post again "

Hey, it was you all who chose to be the enemy. It was your choice.

Words fail me.....you weren't in Deliverance were you? Sooooooeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

  8. You can still go and donate. They can keep the blood for a while (until the next accident?) and they can keep some parts of it longer.

    http://www.bloodcenters.org/blood-donation/facts-about-blood-donation/

Quite a few of us here on Samui give on a regular basis. Just pop along to Nathon and sign up.

Thanks Tropical, yep aware I can donate, have done here a few times. I was more concerned on getting it to "Dennis" who is in urgent need right now.

Meantime will pray for his recovery.

  9. For those of you who discuss the colour of the blood you may want to refresh your knowlegde of arteries and veins.... blood is bright red when its hemoglobin is oxygenated..maybe time some of you guys refreshed your first aid course smile.png

Also those asking questions regarding swelling, need to consider the time it takes for swelling to appear. The report says the photos were taken immediately after the attack. If you look closely at the picture, a lot of the blood seems to travel from the back of his head and around his neck before it runs down his shirt. That would be in line with 4 pieces of scum hit a guy from behind or whilst on the ground covering his face and front of his head in a defensive pose.

Seen it when I've worked security and gutless scum go for the multiple attack method....total cowards and oxygen thieves

  10. BP reporting that BIB are interviewing witnesses at Lotus Bar where Sean McAnna was allegedly seen asking some staff to help wipe bloodstains off his body

Good thing too. Saw a photo of him with his guitar in the back of a baht bus when interviewed by one of the Brit newspapers. They even mentioned the blood stains on his guitar, which were very visible, as being from an accident he had. I'm not a cop or CSI, however it looked like a spray pattern or at least a lot of blood for a guy who looked to be unharmed. Just saying...........NO_ONE can be ruled out until all have been tested, provided a rock solid alibi and been proven to be 100% innocent of any wrongdoing.

I just hope they get the lowlifes who committed this outrage soon and deal with them to the fullest extent of the law. Execution is to good for them, they should be made to suffer for as long as the families of the victims draw breath and suffer the nightmare of losing their loved ones in such a way.

"A very-pregnant Khwanta Saenkhanueng, 29, said she was sleeping on the roadside"..."on Second Road in the wee hours"

    Way to go mom!

The article does bring one question to mind in a glaring fashion - WHY is a pregnant woman sleeping in the streets? Are there no agencies in the government to assist people like this? Even going to a temple would be better than sleeping in the street.

    Few possibilities.

Homeless / hiding from abusive husband / boyfriend /gik

May have been a street vendor sleeping near her stuff

The agencies that help the homeless can't keep up with demand either because as Thailand becomes more affluent (said with a straight face) the new wealthy are abandoning old traditions such as looking after their aged or disadvantaged family members. They fill up the hostels etc so there's no room for everyone.

Whatever the reason for her dossing out it's a sad future for her unborn child.

Regarding the sack of excrement that treats women like that....hope he gets a severe dose of his own whilst waiting to post bail
