  1. Get rid of the noisy & dangerous things. All around the world you actually need a special licence to operate a Jet Ski. Here you can just hop on and go with little or no instruction on how to operate them safely. When Thailand gets liability laws then this will stop. I can just imagine the cues of people, who get hurt, waiting for compensation at the courts. Maritime safety like any safety is a joke here.

  2. Just did this 2 weeks ago from Bangkok bank. We sold our house which was in wifes name & sent the money back to an Australian account in my name. We had to prove where the deposit in the bank came from which meant copy of contract for sale of property, copy of title with old & new owner on it. All we did then was fill out 2 forms & the money was sent. It went in that night in Australia. Ask your bank what is required. Its not hard to do as long as you can prove it's your money & not obtained illegally.

  3. What is with the high use of drugs in this country? I know it happens all over the world but it seems common practice for anyone from a farmer to a Hi-so to use them. Van & bus drivers seem to do just about every drug available & still go out onto the roads. Don't understand. Is it social stigma? Is it forgetting about what life deals you? Or is it just the fact that you can stay awake longer when driving? Scourge of humanity. Yes I have been touched by the affect of drugs when my stepbrother died of an overdose. He was 33 at the time.

  4. The only way to know exactly what happened on that beach that night is known by the 2 Brits who died & the murderer or murderers. We can speculate as much as possible & the only way to find the truth is to have a fair trial with irrevocable evidence. This didn't happen so it puts doubt in every ones mind. Did they or didn't they. We may never know. Hopefully when the appeal (if it happens) starts, the world will see justice in one form or another is served.

  5. And what will happen after one month?I have heard it all before but maybe this time it will be longer lasting. And Stickylies of course makes a very good comment,

many helmets are not more then a glorified cap.

How would you make poor people pay for a better helmet?,maybe the government could make them and sell them at cost price.

Next issue will be many helmets will be stolen, people will need to lock them on the bike or carry them around while shopping at the market.

I had a good quality helmet stolen twice, now i also use cheap ones and have not had one stolen for eight years.

The government should provide the helmets free of charge. The money would be offset by the reduced cost of medical bills for the injured & social costs to families of the dead. Dead & injured people are a huge burden on an economy especially when 28,000 die & countless are injured every year.

  6. You most likely have a poor neutral conductor. If the house has an MEN (multiple earth neutral) connection then return current is being transferred to the earth wire which is giving you tingles. Do your lights flicker when you turn an appliance on? This can also indicate a bad neutral. Check the connections at the switchboard & if not there it could be at the meter or the connection to the aerials. Hope this helps.

  7. I can see the Police system is failing in Thailand. sad.pngsad.pngsad.pngsad.png

What system? Never has been never will be! The statement says everything that I thought about Thailand in a whole. The Thais do not care or will ever care about anyone else & that includes their own kind. I have 9 days left here before I return to civilization. I am so looking forward to never visiting here again. I just hope that the future will see change here but it will not happen in my life time & probably not in my children's time.

  8. My wife applied for sole custody of her daughter, my stepdaughter & the cost was 15000 baht. That was for the lawyer & court fees. Her ex husband agreed & attended court so it was very easy. Her daughter had to go to an interview at child services but all ok. We are in Chiang Mai so if you are near here we can put you in touch with the lawyer. About the divorce I don't know, sorry. Hope this helps.

  9. Utter disgrace and every death a family tragedy, yet nothing effective is ever done. Thailand needs a real DRIVING TEST with nobody allowed to pay for one if they cannot pass it.

At age 68 I just finished a Thai driving school and passed the written and driving test on the first try. At the time of the testing there were about 200 applicants and only 10 of us passed. The new driving written exam is very hard to pass and the driving course looks easy, but different and tricky for drivers use to driving from the left side of the vehicle.

Many of my Thai friends recently gave up on the 3rd try trying to get a license.

I've been licensed in the U.S., Costa Rica and here. The Thai drivers license course preparation was the hardest I ever encountered. The problems I see are over crowded roads, alcohol and drug abuse, combined with a lack of commen sense! My opinion...

So your friends will just drive anyway? With no law enforcement how will any one know!

  10. We don't know what happened, so why speculate. Bike going to fast, maybe. Chinese guy stepping in front of bike he didn't see, maybe. Usually around the world, roads are for vehicles not pedestrians, that is why there are crossings or traffic lights. Here we can only hope that we can cross the road & not be hit because there aren't any suitable places to cross. Maybe the Thai government is at fault because of their inability to ensure safe passage.
