I would love to know how people living in Thailand can gill more than #1,000 a month on their card.
Especially when you need to bill even more for the first three months. And I mean, “really” and not something like “I go to bars every night and buy drinks for all the ladies.” -
Can someone perhaps "summarize"...?
Which cards offer outstanding deals with no downside?
Living in Thailand, is it not a bit hard to rack up more than $1,000 a month in credit card bills?
I am guessing the card company does not give great conversion rates when you buy here in Baht. Any idea of how much is "lost" in such transactions?

How much is a nice meal at Chivit Thamma?
-
I would LOVE to more specifics...
What size, cost to construct, etc.
Anything to be particularly careful about?

Did someone in this thread say that the boric acid mixture also works with termites?
If so, how does the termite nest get affected?

As always, thanks Ubonjoe!
I will likely get my re-entry permit at the airport.
And good to know I do not lose any time from the visa.
Thanks so much!

Ok, so I was mistakenly calling my reporting an "extension" which it is not.
First piece of learning. Thanks.
So my visa is good until Jan. 18, 2018 which is one year from the 90 day entry from the visa.
I also did not know this, so thanks again.
If I leave the country in a week and come back on say Jan. 4th, then my next 90 day reporting will be 3 months after returning? OR, 3 months after leaving?

One piece of wrong info- I entered the country on Oct. 17 and not Oct. 14.
Strangely enough, to me, the visa stamp says extensions permitted up until Jan. 14, 2018
So I went in on Dec. 14, 2016 (exactly one month early) to extend my visa for "retirement" and needed all the bank docs. etc., and my extension now needs to be renewed by March 13 2017.
To me, that means I lose a month. No?
What am I not understanding?

I got a brand new non-O visa on Oct. 14, 2016.
I did the retirement extension one month early as I am going to leave the country for a while.
My next extension was dated 3 months from the day I extended, and since I went in one month early, that seems to mean that I lost one month in the process.
I thought this was NOT meant to be the case.
???
Does this now mean that my visa is only good for 11 months, or?
I asked the lady once I looked, and she said that is the case with the first extension of a visa.
???

So, are we saying this (and some offices allow for a bank letter the day before you apply for extension)
1. Passport, with photocopies of all relevant pages (main, entry stamp, old visa etc) Including the page with your picture.
2. Bank passbook updated on the same day (or the day before- which has been ok for me) as the application, showing at least 800,000 baht for the last 3 months (two months if it is your first extension). Copy of all relevant bank book pages plus the ID page of the bank book.
3. A bank letter stating that the funds are in the bank
4. 1900 baht fee
5. Completed TM7 form with passport photo (2 photos?). TM7 to be printed double sided.
6. A copy of the TM6 departure card.
7. Proof of residence including rental contract. 1. If you rent from a Thai owner,- a photocopy of their Tabian Baan (blue house book) and their Thai ID card – they may also require that the photocopies be signed by the owner.
Is this the complete list?

Yes, let us know.
I did not know that DHL handles things in the States for them.
As long as they hand it off to the postal system, there should be no worries.

Hi BritTime, I think I understand the distinction.
Why would a person not want to get the one year extension?
In general of course.
-
Sorry, but I am confused.
If you have a non-O why do you need to do border runs?
-
Ok.
Thanks folks, that is what I thought!

I just got a delivery from iHerb in the US.
They have really great prices, the shipping charge was only a few dollars (don't remember now exactly how much) and as long as you keep your order below $100 (and a certain weight that I don't recall) and you look to make sure that you don't ship by DHL etc. all is great.
The postman wanted 7 Baht as some sort of delivery charge.
GREAT value!

I have an English teacher friend who wants to make some extra spending money by cleaning houses for people.
I am guessing this is not legal to do, but that is only my guess. Please let me know what is what in this regard.

I got a new Non-O visa in Vietnam on Oct. 14.
My extension is due on or about Jan. 14, and I will seek "retirement".
When and if I get the extension will I need to show money seasoned for 3 months or 2?
And how much in advance can I apply for the extension?
TIA

What about my situation?-
I get about $600 a month in SS from the US govt. and about $450 a month from the Japanese govt.
Can I go to the US Embassy and swear to receiving $1,050, and also have ready both the Japanese form and the US form issues by each government?

Not sure here...
But I know that at Mae Sai there is a sign when wanting to go out of the country, that says "No more visa runs" and they won't let you out unless you are not planning on coming back in for "a while"

I am wondering...
What these two posts are meant to accomplish?
15 hours ago, OJAS said:Sounds to me like another instance where trouble might have been avoided through the checking of one's passport at the point of entry into Thailand?
O come on now that would be too much trouble, taking responsibility for yourself

I paid them in US$. It was $80
Approx. B2,720 :-)

Hmm,
I write a 19 line post, simply to be of service to the community,
And yet some people find me inconsiderate because I quote US$ and not Baht.
Fascinating!
And yes, I would not quote Danish crone or Indian Rupees.
For me, when I read Baht I almost always calculate into US$ since that is my base currency.
Anyway, no big deal, just wanted to add a bit more here.

dotpoom-
I am wondering...
If you hear of a price of (for example) B19,500
Do you convert that into the currency of the country you came from, in order to make full sense of the price, or do you simply see the price in Baht and have no need to convert?
For me, with most prices I need to convert into US$.
Please let me know.

Well, if you cannot pay your rent using a credit card, yes, to me, hard to see how one can rack up $1,000 a month here on a regular basis.
I took four other folks to lunch at Le Meridien the other day. B2,000 for all five of us.
