  1. I know that we have Somchai and Sparky on a Saturday night but what are the Thaivisa names for the 2 muppets on Sunday night. The fat, jolly, camp chap is probably more irritating than either Somchai or Sparky. :o

Perhaps the use of these presenters is a sinister plot by True Visions to get revenge on us farangs for subjecting the Thai football public to years of abuse with the anal ramblings of Masefield and Shebby on ESPN. :D :D

Turdsak seems like an appropriate name for him. I actually miss Shebby now, he looks good when you compare him to these fools.

Agreed. He does look like a Turdsak!!

  3. It really is a tough one to guess what his next move will be.

I predict his next move will be towards the treatment room.

:D He's probably already there. Maybe he has a Physio fetish or something.

Yes, I believe that he was recently over in Germany visiting a female doctor for his groin problem. :o

  4. So it's goodbye from him (Martin Jol) I presume.

Got me thinking about teams too good to go down. Our own beloved was one , Notts Forest another (who actually went down and down) :o Manu , Chelsea and Leeds all ust have been considered as being that in their time as well.

So does anyone actually believe the cliche' ? I mean third from bottom and one third of the season gone doesn't actually look too bright does it ?

Too good to go down ?

Another team that you could say were too good to go down were Middlesbourgh in 97. That was the year they reached 2 cup finals and had great players like Juninho, Ravanelli and Emerson.

Looking at Tottenham last night they're defending was shocking with Dawson in particular being very poor. However a team with a strikeforce of Keane and Berbatov should be too good to go down. :D

I know many people have already written Derby as they look too crap to stay up. But if they won 2 games they would be in mid table. That just goes to show how tight it is at the bottom.

  5. I live in Ladprao and it's a great area to stay. It's far enough out of the city centre that you don't get any of the regular tourist hassles. On the other hand it's not quite in the sticks so you can go about your daily business without groups of locals pestering you for freebies. You'd actually be surprised with the number of farangs living in Ladprao. There might not be as many as Sukhumvit but walk into any of the shopping malls and you'll see plenty of westerners.

To get to downtown Bangkok takes about 15-20 minutes by MRT. Also coming back at night in a taxi should take about the same time as long as there is no traffic. The taxi fare shouldn't be any more than 100 baht.

I'm not sure were PK mansion is but if your in the lower end of Ladprao you can walk to the MRT. If not then jump on a bus and head to the MRT. There will be plenty of buses but you'll have to check which number will take you there.

  6. what do we have to do to qualify now? Beat the Italians?

    Yes!

or draw with italy and hope france lose in ukraine.

or even a draw against Italy and then pray for the greatest miracle of all time that the Faroe Islands go and beat the Italians in Italy. :o:D

  7. To be fair to Owen he's never really stated that he wants to leave Newcastle. But on the other hand he's never really came out and committed himself publicly to wanting to stay with Newcastle.

Newcastle have invested a lot of time and money in Owen and are entitled to some return on their investment. If Owen was to string a number of games together and start scoring goals but at the same time Newcastle still continued to flounder in midtable then I don't think anybody would begrudge him a move to a better club.

  8. Injury News

brown and hutton join hartley, caldwell, mcgregor etc in the treatment room. o'connor and mcculloch are suspended for georgia game.

    fletcher recalled.

    that's a few first-choice players out now.

    for georgia, i'd go for:

    gordon

    alexander mcmanus weir naysmith

    dailly

    fletcher ferguson

    miller mcfadden

    boyd

bit of a mike bassett formation but that would be my team.

Even with all the injuries and suspensions, it looks like we can still field a decent first 11. I suppose that's our advantage of having a squad of 20 honest pros and not having any big time superstars.

I think game4shame's starting 11 prediction could be a good call. The only player that I could see not starting would be Boyd. I'd expect Pearson or Maloney to be given the nod with Miller playing the lone striker role.

Only 4 more points needed to qualify. Let's hope we can get 3 against Georgia and at least a point against the Italians. :o

  9. I didn't have the chance to watch the game and I had to make do with listening to the game on the internet with Radio Clyde. That's the first time I've listened to a live commentary for years. It's even more nerve wracking because you can't see what's going on.

Anyway, we got the right result and it sounds that players like Alan Hutton and Scott Brown are coming of age. Also if James McFadden keeps on scoring he could well become the new Kenny Dalglish?? :o

  10. Arsenal look the best and most exciting team at this moment, but I feel that the lack of experience will eventually catch up with them. United haven't been playing to the same high standard as last season but they are still up there. Once they get all their injured players back and fit, I can see them going on and winning it again.

  11. I don't think that managers and players should be under the same rule. The reason is that most teams have a squad of 30 or so players. If one player player is unhappy and wants to quit the club then it's easy to move someone into the team replace him.

With the manager, there is only one person in charge. If he decides to leave or quit halfway through the season then the team would be in big trouble. He should be the most important member of the team so I think that it's not viable for players and managers to be governed by the same rules.

  12. 'Elite' police cadet in pub brawl

    BANGKOK: --

Sukjai Sukchok, 56, the pub's owner, filed a police complaint yesterday, saying Cadet Sutthi-rak Lakkhalikhit - who is training at Huai Khwang station - and his friends attacked a security guard at the pub and damaged the property at 5.30am yesterday. The pub owner later had journalists inspect the damage and watch close-circuit camera footage of the incident.

Why was the bar open at 5.30am?

  13. Just wondering if Keane might try and get Lee Sharpe (Ex Torquay United/Manchester United) in, as he is available and wouldn't contravene the transfer rules. :D

Well, he is ex Man Utd and he is over 35 years of age. So it could be possible. :o

  14. A far superior beer to any of the local hangover inducing beers. Hence the reason why it's being delayed. Can't have competition.

I'll agree with that. It's certainly a nicer beer to drink than any of the Thai beers.

I just hope that they keep the Lao prices when they come to Thailand. :o I can't remember the exact cost, but I think it was about the equivalent of 30 baht for a big bottle in Vientiane.

  15. what a performance. solid, well organised & the cheeky boy strikes again.

McFadden has really improved in the last year or two. In the last few months, he's scored a couple of spectacular goals for both club and country. I hope that he can stay clear of injury and shoot us to the Euro 2008. :o

  16. What a fantastic result. :o Who would have thought that we would be top of the group at this stage of the qualifying.

We still have 3 tough games left but it looks like it could all come down to our last game with Italy at Hampden.

  17. But the prize for the worst football ground in the whole world goes to Sid James Park (Newcastle) affectionately known as Skunkville or the Landfill. Full of barcoded skunks who are imprisoned in their lopsided prison block. Afraid that nobody will come back, the gates are locked from both the inside and the outside. Unless you have ever been there, the stench is unimaginable.

Shock! Horror! I thought that you would have went for Hartlepool. :o

    MONKEY HANGERS !!!! :D

    :D:D

The monkeys were French spies so they deserved to be hanged. :D

  18. The good news is that Henry is suspended for France and that the French coach has complained that their pitch is a mess after the Rugby World Cup game. :D

The bad news is that Barry Ferguson is available again after suspension. :o
