I'd tend to disagree, being an Officer in the Army could be a great career (jet fighter pilot, navy officer, even infantery officer)... And don't forget, that as a Thai (with a foreign father) you have to do your 2-year military service BUT you can't get promoted ! It seems this is the case, as well, for doctors. A thai doctor, with foreign parent, isn't allowed to work for public hospitals... It speaks volume about the will of assimilation on the thai side...

According to statistics 53% of the thai population speak thai... % of Thais speaking thai language To paraphrase Col. Jessup ("A few good men"), I'm an educated man, but I'm afraid I can't speak intelligently about the speaking habits of Thais and Foreigners in Thailand... I work in Thailand and speak, fluently, 3 languages (english, chinese and french) but never bothered to become fluent in thai. Does it hurt in any way ? Not really...

I did enter ALL the information requested by immigration, BUT, CW rejected the online 90-day report because the people in charge didn't have, apparently, any trace of my extension... I've been using online, in person & by mail reports for a while...

Not only that! I renewed my extension in May. In July, I tried to do my 90-day report online and it was rejected... Reason: "visa date is missing" (NB: it wasn't the first time that I was using the online process) Therefore, I mailed my report to CW and it was accepted! I guess the 2 (?) databases Visa / Extension of Stay and 90-day Reporting aren't linked (or updated)...
