  1. OK, please allow me to be a little bit provocative... Giving a mere pay rise won't achieve much on the long run. What is needed is a solid program with some key action points (and associated metrics to evaluate the progress made). A few tips to improve people's quality of life, Statements: 1. Thailand is a rich country BUT the distribution of wealth isn't quite right 2. Monopolies (or duopolies) are the norm 3. Corruption is rampant 4. Barriers to entry are standard practice Action points: 1. Seize ALL assets linked with corruption and redistribute them to people (through infrastructure programs such as: roads, railways, education, health, etc.) 2. Fire ALL people linked with corruption 3. Stop and nationalize ALL companies involved in monopolies & duopolies 4. Open the thai market to competition and encourage thai companies to become more competitive within the domestic market and on the international ones. 5. Develop "Areas of Excellence" focused on "next-generation needs" (venture between universities & industries, research centers, etc.) I know, it's a, very, long way to go... BUT, where there's a will... I told you I will be provocative...
  2. Please note that: 1. Thai employees got very little holidays from their employers 2. Most developed countries in Europe offer much more holidays than Thailand (France: 5 weeks + "RTT", Germany: 24 days, Italy: 4 weeks, Spain: 30 days, UK: 25 days, etc.) and in some cases "Bank Holidays" come as a bonus...
  3. Yep, French has a National Football Team and a Rugby National Team as well... Rugby France - England, March 19 2022
  4. I'd love that somebody explain to me the following. * Why nobody is surprised when a police officer goes to his office in a Ferrari and in a Porsche on the next day? * Why nobody is surprised that some senior army officers are amongst the richest people in the country (bearing in mind the pay is quite low)? * Why nobody is surprised when the largest house in an area is owned by a civil servant?
  5. According to international statistics, the level of corruption in Thailand increased between 2014 & 2021 Thailand - Corruption Index
  6. We don’t to need to be too cooperative… By law, we aren't supposed to speak thai or even english (obviously, for people who don't have English as their mother tongue!). When an event makes me uncomfortable (police check point, immigration visit, etc.), I, suddenly, lose my ability of speaking thai or even English. I just stick to my mother tongue and keep smiling. I always enjoy the look of the official's face when he realises that he won't be able to communicate with me! LOL
  7. No, foreigners don't "have to show money and keep it there to get one"... if they work or have a regular source of income. Foreigners who aren't in these 2 cases do need to block some money in a fixed bank account. When I worked abroad I applied for a thai credit card and had to put some money on a fixed bank account to secure it. However, when I started to work in Thailand, I had just to show some pay slips and was good to go. Obviously, Thais who have a regular source of income can get a credit card. Hope it'll help.

  11. My reading skills or yours? I was keen to discuss some news. Are they real, authentic or just fake news? That's the whole point. I fully understand that you can't accept any challenge. Fine with me!
  12. I got it "democrats' are for Democracy if it follows the "democrats" own rules. No challenge accepted, no discussion allowed ! So, you're not that far from Communists. Many thanks for the clarification
  13. So, The Guardian, The Daily Mail, The Telegraph, etc aren't good because not approved by the "Democrats" ? Is it the message you want to convey ?
  14. Forums give us the benefit to discuss openly about news. I still don't see why some people feel so much offended when they read something they don't like... I'm not American but quite keen to understand what's going on over there. Especially, when the US interfere so much with other countries... And to be very honest when I read news about J. Biden and his family, I'm getting very concerned for the whole world.
  15. Will the Daily Mail link be approved ? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11378223/Hunter-Bidens-ex-business-partner-set-testify-explosive-trove-documents.html?s=03
  16. I took the freedom to share 3 links: 2 from The Guardian a quite well known media + 1 from a US Senator Will they be approved?

  20. “Guy calls Thailand racist as white Thais can’t become officer in the army” Where did I say that??? I did say (Posted Sunday at 08:18 PM) “One example: Some thai citizens (with thai ID, thai passport, etc.) won't be able to become Officers in the thai Army... Do you know why? Because one of the parents is not thai...” Did I, in my post, refer to any color, race or whatever? Therefore, why do you modify other people’s thoughts? Are you that screwed?
  21. The very best way "to contact a human at Line" (or any other company) is to look @ your LinkedIn profile and find / activate some direct ou indirect connections who work for Line... Easy-peasy!
  22. OK, I understand you are supporting these racist laws. Thanks for the clarification. BTW, why are you bringing the US into the discussion??? Assimilation is a 2-way process... Thailand, clearly, doesn't want to assimilate all of its citizens... Therefore, why foreigners should make the effort to assimilate?
