  1. Are we discussing HERE about the US or Thailand? Therefore, I understand that you fully support these racist laws... "Well done you!"
  2. BUT these laws ARE still here ! It does show the will of non-assimilation from the thai point of view... Xenophobia (or racism) at its best ! Even against their own citizens !
  3. I'd tend to disagree, being an Officer in the Army could be a great career (jet fighter pilot, navy officer, even infantery officer)... And don't forget, that as a Thai (with a foreign father) you have to do your 2-year military service BUT you can't get promoted ! It seems this is the case, as well, for doctors. A thai doctor, with foreign parent, isn't allowed to work for public hospitals... It speaks volume about the will of assimilation on the thai side...
  4. Asking foreigners to assimilate within the thai society seems to be quite over the top... The thai society doesn't assimilate its own citizens... One example: Some thai citizens (with thai ID, thai passport, etc.) won't be able to become Officers in the thai Army... Do you know why? Because one of the parents is not thai...
  5. So the stats and articles are ALL wrong ??? Even, in Bangkok not every Thai is able to speak, write & read "Central Thai Language"
  6. Nonsense! We are talking about the "Official Thai Language" not one of these dialects.. Languages of Thailand - Wikipedia Got it?
  7. According to statistics 53% of the thai population speak thai... % of Thais speaking thai language To paraphrase Col. Jessup ("A few good men"), I'm an educated man, but I'm afraid I can't speak intelligently about the speaking habits of Thais and Foreigners in Thailand... I work in Thailand and speak, fluently, 3 languages (english, chinese and french) but never bothered to become fluent in thai. Does it hurt in any way ? Not really...
  8. Did you contact their Support ? Zenmate Support
  9. Not that hard to find, detailed, salary info... It took me less than 5 minutes... Kelly Thailand Adecco Thailand and, even more is available online...
  10. US Military Bought Mass Monitoring Tool That Includes Internet Browsing, Email Data Don't worry! it's for your own good sake!
  11. Chrome & Edge Enhanced Spellcheck Features Expose PII, Even Your Passwords "Chrome's enhanced spellcheck & Edge's MS Editor are sending data you enter into form fields like username, email, DOB, SSN, basically anything in the fields, to sites you're logging into from either of those browsers when the features are enabled. Furthermore, if you click on "show password," the enhanced spellcheck even sends your password, essentially Spell-Jacking your data..."
  12. Good point! BTW, no monarch in France since 1870 (Napoleon III) = 152 years Napoleon III
  13. Other choices: invest in MS Office or subscribe to Microsoft 365
  14. I did enter ALL the information requested by immigration, BUT, CW rejected the online 90-day report because the people in charge didn't have, apparently, any trace of my extension... I've been using online, in person & by mail reports for a while...
  15. Not only that! I renewed my extension in May. In July, I tried to do my 90-day report online and it was rejected... Reason: "visa date is missing" (NB: it wasn't the first time that I was using the online process) Therefore, I mailed my report to CW and it was accepted! I guess the 2 (?) databases Visa / Extension of Stay and 90-day Reporting aren't linked (or updated)...
  16. I ordered a ThinkPad X13 on Aug. 23 and got it delivered on Sep. 07. A quick delivery for a "bespoke" laptop!
  17. When in the UK, I "progressed" from Gold to Centurion AMEX. These cards were "Charge Cards", meaning you don't pay on the spot, you pay all of your purchases at the end of the month. Very convenient when you travel a lot for business. The Centurion's benefits were great, with 24-7 Concierge, comprehensive Travel Insurance (even if you don't pay your trip with the card), direct access to top tiers Hotel Airlines loyalty programs, etc.
  18. Regarding Taxis, I use either metered or Bolt. Bolt, is, almost, same price than metered. The app is easy to use and cars are quick to get. When traffic is heavy and where it's available, I use BTS & MRT
  19. Allo! It's not just about "rewards"! Did you, truly, read and understand, my post? BTW, I do not pay a single THB of interest/fee linked to my credit card activity! Got it? Therefore, how could I do "overspending" and how could I be "in debt"? You, really, have to open your mind a little bit and start to think... I hope you aren't / weren't in a senior finance position.
  20. 100% non sense! LOL Scenario # 1: I invite a customer for lunch in a 5-star hotel and I pay with my credit card. 1.The price I pay IS the same that if I had paid with cash. 2. This transaction will give me points and I'll be able to use these points to get some rewards (free lunch, free ice creams, discounts @ the big malls, discounts at hotels, etc.) 3. The money isn't directly taken from my account. This transaction could be paid, free of charge, up to 50 days after the actual date. 4. Last but not least, it's a business expense and I can claim it back! Scenario # 2: I fill the tank of my car @ the petrol station and I pay with my credit card. Scenario # 3: I pay a return ticket to Europe and I pay with my credit card. 4. With my credit card I get a free and comprehensive travel insurance. Scenario # 4: I buy a new laptop (for example) and I pay with my credit card. 1.The price I pay IS the same that if I had paid with cash. 2. This transaction will give me points and I'll be able to use these points to get some rewards (free lunch, free ice creams, discounts @ the big malls, discounts at hotels, etc.) 3. The money isn't directly taken from my account. This transaction could be paid, free of charge, up to 50 days after the actual date or I can take advantage of a 10-month interest free scheme. 4. If during the first 90 days my new device is stolen, broken or lost, the credit card company will pay for a brand new one. PS: I don't have to pay the annual credit card fees! So, please tell me where is the problem? LOL
  21. I'm not Thai and I have 2 Thai Credit Cards: The first one: I got it when I was working abroad and it's backed up with a Fixed Bank Account. The second one: I got it when I started to work in Bangkok. This one has quite a healthy limit and DOES NOT have any Fixed Bank Account linked to it.
  22. Wrong! Thai banks issue credit cards as UK banks do. Meaning, if you can prove that you have recurring revenues (eg: salary from a Thai employer), a Thai bank will be more than pleased to issue a card. The limit would be n times your monthly salary. In the case that you do not have any recurring revenues, a Thai bank would issue a credit card if you provide some kind of guarantee.
