  1. Yes you can. There are driving schools here, but you'll have to seek one out that has an English speaking instructor. You won't get the comprehensive package that you'd expect back in your home country, but it will be enough to get you on the road. Most Thais get there without any instruction! The best choice would be to take a 1 week full time course which can include a motorcycle course as well. These schools are registered with the DLT and will 'walk' you through the whole process to obtaining your licenses. My wife did one in Udon Thani which costed 5,000 THB if I remember rightly.
  2. Why on earth would anyone want to tie up 800k THB of the own money thus allowing immigration to dictate what you can, and more importantly cannot do with YOUR OWN MONEY? It makes absolutely no sense to me at all. Getting a marriage extension is no big deal. Thousands of us do every year and, in my experience longer you do it, the easier it gets, even without the embassy letter.
  3. By the letter of the law, you are allowed to use an average income of 40,000 THB per month throughout the year. However there have been reports of some IOs not accepting it. (maybe they don't understand averaging) A letter from your employer explaining the 1 month shortfall would probably be acceptable. I understand that IOs tend to be a little more flexible with those working in kingdom, as apposed to those of us relying on foreign deposits.
  4. Pleased to see someone is thinking straight around here. ????
  5. My wife dealt with the registration. She has just told me that all they wanted was my passport.
  6. Good rates of pay and working conditions probably cover much of that query.
  7. Delivered from a country with a population of only 770,000. So the donation amounted to 19.5% of their population. Pretty sizable wouldn't you say.
  8. Bhutan, a land with a population of less than 1 million and very poor was the recipient, of vaccine donations, some via Covax in order to fully vaccinate its small population. This donation that they have passed on to Thailand is probably surplus to their current requirements anyway and would otherwise exceed its use by date. They are two friendly Buddhist Asian nations, one helping the other out. What on earth is all this fuss about?
  9. Do read the article please: ''Dr Kiatphoom Wongjarit of the Ministry of Public Health confirmed the arrival that is under an agreement whereby the Thai government will return a commensurate amount at the end of the year''.
  10. I do have a pink card, but whether that was relevant or not I do not know. I was put on the vaccination list the old fashioned way. By a volunteer community worker with a clipboard, pen and paper. Plenty of others have reported that they were 'netted' the same way.
  11. If someone is negligent enough to overlook the simple procedure of a 90 day report and is then so absent minded that he doesn't bother to ask for a receipt when fined, then that, IMO is fair game. Or should I say fair gain! ????
  12. In Sakon Nakhon. it's AZ for the over 60s and Sinovac for the rest. As of yesterday they had given 125,000 Sinovac and 57,000 AZ jabs. (numbers rounded)
  13. You need to be better informed before making comments like this. A 90 day report is free. No money goes in any pockets.
  14. There is a department in Thailand who should know where every foreigner is residing in Thailand and we all know which one that is. Why do they have to go to the embassies to get this information? They'd get nothing out of the British embassy anyway because they do not have a registration system. Having said that, little old me, up here in the middle of nowhere, received my 1st AZ jab 5 weeks ago and I'm booked for my 2nd one next month. And I'm not the rare exception by a long way. So Anutin seems to be behind the times somewhat.
  15. This is the same guy who spoke out recently against lock downs. (see lockdown measures aren't working ) I agreed with him then and I agree with him now. We have to stop cowering away from a pathogen that, for the vast majority of people, only causes a minor, short term illness and in many cases, no illness at all. Vaccinate and protect the vulnerable and the frontline workers, then let the virus have its way and put an end to this crazy situation. The sooner we do that, the sooner herd immunity will be achieved and we will all be much safer and very much relieved. The stress and strain that all this nonsense is causing on society is far worse than sickness itself.
  16. Why is it completely off topic? The topic is: 'Thai consumer spending in foreign currencies'. A customer (Thai or foreigner) using a foreign credit card to make a purchase in Thailand fits that profile exactly and that is just what @bronzedude is alluding to. Thanks for the useful info Bronzedude
  17. Same experience with us in Sakon Nakhon. It was a very simple process. Agree about taking your own passport to confirm spelling on her new ID and CHECK it! They got the spelling wrong the first time around and had to print the ID card again.
  18. If he was uncooperative, putting him on a stretcher was probably the only way to return him to his ward safely and without causing undue stress and alarm. From what little we can see, I think they did a pretty good job.
  19. I never have caught infections no matter what rules or practices are being applied. As @huangnon mentioned above, we have an innate immune system to do that duty for us.
  20. The camera certainly won't detect the direction of the shot, but the person behind it will have directional hearing won't he. He films a shooter protrude from the window, he hears a bang from the direction of the window and then the shooter withdraws. What other plausible explanation can there possibly be?
  21. I was in the bank last week and for a brief moment, one of the very pretty girls in there pulled down her mask and gave one of her dazzling smiles. It gave me such joy to see a pretty face laughing and smiling and I said so. It reminded of how much communication relies on facial expression and of how much I was missing it. I HATE masks. They are dehumanizing us. I never wear one at home or around the village and the sooner we are rid of them the better.
