  1. Surprise for all you posters who can afford to live where you are at. Thailand is not just a country of the rich. There are many poor people all over the country and they are the ones hurting, especially any that live in the city. The farmers can at least grow and eat their own food, and survive on less money than people in the cities. Be happy that your retirement money is enough, if you indeed live in Thailand. Geezer
  2. Well I guess all the party people will be kept in the same cell block as they are infected, or may start showing symptoms in the several days. I bet that most of them feel foolish for being at that gathering. I hope they all get big fines, and the foreigners get the biggest fines. Pretty stupid to be in a group of any size right now if it is not the immediate family. Geezer
  3. Well I certainly can agree with this leading doctor. The stats in Thailand seem to have a lot fewer deaths compared with a couple other Asian countries. I doubt that the hospitals were able to save more people from dying since COVID began, than other near by Asian countries. Plus my Thai relatives who work at hospitals, have always told me that there was plenty of face saving at the start of this pandemic, and they were told to put cause of death as one of the lung diseases, and pneumonia instead of COVID 19. I have no reason to believe that my relatives would be lying to me, but I do doubt the Thai government and their total honesty. Just saying. Geezer
  4. When I see the numbers for Aug 22 2021 in the Nation, chart, Impact of Covid 19 in ASEAN, and see Philippines New cases 215, total cases 1,839,635 and deaths of 31,810 Then I see Thailand new cases 233, total cases 1,049,295, and deaths of 9,320. I have to wonder why so many more people died in the Philippines? A difference in the the total amount of deaths is over 3 times the amount of deaths in Thailand, which makes me believe the numbers from Philippines and Indonesia a bit more. Just saying. Geezer
  5. And here is the PM of Canada, Mr. Black face. I think I would rather have the PM of New Zealand. Geezer
  6. If November 1st is considered the start of High Season, then why not just come out and say, that hopefully Pattaya can start to reopen to tourists then. Maybe Thailand would get a few brave tourists by then. In December when the Winter is truly happening in the northern countries, there may be more brave souls who just want to go to a tropical country to stay warm, and maybe by that time more people in Thailand will have been vaccinated with 2 shots, and a bit less threat of COVID would be possible. If the rules and restriction have not been lessened, I doubt that there will be a mad rush from anywhere heading for Thailand. At least it is nearly 100 days until November 1st. More time for the businesses that have not been permanently shut down to restart and try to last through the Winter months. Geezer
  7. I hope that all Thais including the children will have had their 2 shots of a COVID vaccine by the end of 2022. Right now the hospitals are way too full of sick people, and it is hard on the staff, who must be burning out like they are in other parts of the world. It is not easy being a doctor or nurse, when you work all the long hours and see so many people dying by them selves, in the manner that most do when they get in contact with the CIOVID virus, as well as what ever other illness they had. As for the poster who does not like the New Zealand leader, do you live in NZ? Do you have respect for any one, and please do not be looking in the mirror, as you don't count. Geezer
  8. This is ten million right? 10,000. Maybe the TAT guy has a problem reading numbers like I do. I bet he just wants to keep the Thai PM happy, so he will still get paid his salary. The fantasy story from TAT continues. Geezer
  9. Good news story, and nice bikini bottoms on the woman, sigh, some posters must be going blind. Geezer
  10. I am glad that these Thai people were able to get out of that country. I read of Canadians being stuck in Kabul, and it makes me wonder why they did not get out earlier, as they had to have known the risks of the Taliban heading from Kandahar, maybe they are dual citizens. Sad situation in Afghanistan, does this mean the civil war is almost over? I hope so, as 20 years of war is much too long. Geezer
  11. Which vaccines have been tested and approved for the children? I have read that some are being tested, but I have not seen an official wording that any of the vaccines have been approved for the young children. I guess the children and teens from 12 to 18 are getting a couple of choices, but what about the younger disease spreaders? Geezer
  12. And these 2 countries both have a big plastic pollution problem. Yes it is time they both start thinking greener and quit it with the over done, plastic packaging. Just saying. Geezer
  13. During my many trips to Thailand, I have been on tour buses with the rich, and normal tourists, visiting temples at Ayuthaya, as well as many in Bangkok. . I have stayed in many guest houses as well as fancy hotels and have always been treated well by the staff of all of these places. The only difference I noticed between the rich tourists and the regular tourists was the high end cameras and accessories that the rich tourists had. We all ate the same food and drinks aboard the cruise boat on the river returning to Bangkok from Ayuthaya, and other places. Thailand has been locked up without any tourists, and should be happy to get any foreign traveler who choices to come to their country. I will be happy when the restrictions and the many forms required to visit Thailand have ended. I do not mind a temperature test on arrival, or even a throat swab, but the rest of their demands should be gone. I have had 2 shots of COVID vaccine and may be getting a 3rd booster to help my immunities, so until 80 percent of the Thai population have had 2 vaccines, I will not be returning to their country, period. Over to you TAT, what is your intentions? Geezer
  14. Yes follow the sand box model. restrict the beaches, do not allow alcohol to be sold or drank on the beaches, or anywhere. Keep all the restrictions in place until at least January of 2022. Quarantine, stays in effect. COE stays in effect, etc. Good luck with your high season Thailand as it will be pretty dismal. Just a reminder it is only 90 days until mid November, and isn't that in High Season? Geezer
  15. Considering how contagious the Delta variant of COVID is I do not see the numbers going any lower any time soon. Look at Indonesia, there are still a lot of people dying in that country. Good luck with your vaccinations for those in Thailand that are still waiting. Stay cautious stay healthy. Geezer
  16. Thanks for the weekly news Rooster, and I also hope to go see England and Scotland next Summer as my grand parents came from those countries, and I really should go there before too much more time passes. Thanks for mentioning Afghanistan, The end to a civil war was not the ending that all were hoping for. Just a note that the Taliban are also from that country. Although they are from the areas of Eastern and Southern Afghanistan, the Kandahar province may be one of their original areas. Considering that Afghanistan is a Muslim country and Islam is the religion, I do hope that the Taliban will be a bit less fanatical as they were the last time they were in control. I guess the future will tell. Hopefully the vaccines keep getting to the people who have been waiting so patiently. I hope that all the companies of Pfizer, Moderna, J & J, AZ and the rest all can improve their formulas that are more effective against the variants as well as the original COVID virus. I do have some fine Thai gold jewelry and certainly would not wear much of it when I holiday in Thailand, certainly I would not wear anything that is worth more than 3 or 4 thousand baht. The rest of the news shows that life is still going on. I hope that the woman gold robber gets caught soon as well. The old Thai man who lost his arm to a neighbor dog, was certainly one very sad news story to me. I have some fond memories of riding the trains from Bangkok to other places in Thailand, and hope to have a few more rides on them in the future. May your scrabble future be successful. Geezer
  17. I do hope the Phuket sandbox is a success, and that lots of businesses can open back up. However I will wait until next Winter, as this coming Winter will be one of recovery and i really do not want to see any place that looks like a ghost town. Seeing all the recent videos of many places in Thailand, there are sure a lot of businesses that are currently closed, and it makes most of the touristy places look pretty bad. Just saying. Not only that but not being able to freely drink on the beach or other places, just makes me feel that I would not enjoy my holidays if the present rules stay in place. Geezer
  18. Just as my cousin has done, if I lived in Thailand, I would have went back to my home country and got the 2 vaccine shots for COVID, spent 6 weeks visiting with my various family members to save some money, then returned to Thailand fully vaccinated and hopefully able to survive getting sick from the COVID virus. There are likely quite a few members on this forum who could have done that as well, but are instead taking their lives in their hands, and trusting that they will get the vaccine, before they get sick with COVID. Well good luck with that, stay cautious, and stay healthy. Geezer
  19. Too bad that they are too late for 2 of my Bangkok relatives. One is dead and the other is in hospital on oxygen now and it does not look good for her. Their son is also sick, but he did have his 2 shots and is expected to make it okay. I hope that this program helps a lot of the older Thais and expats that are home bound. Geezer
  20. How would you posters like to be in this old guys shoes. 78 years old and had been going to this neighbors house, more than once. Now he has to live the rest of his life with one arm. Some say it was totally his own fault. Some say, Oh please do not destroy the dogs. Those dogs who have had a taste of human blood, and will they be nice dogs in the future, and not a threat to anyone else? How about next time it is some child who gets bitten, then what? If these dogs were at all dangerous, the signs should have already been up. A very sad news story indeed, with many sad comments provided by some posters. Geezer
  21. The doctor is a lucky guy, and I hope he has success in his travels. There is lots of people around the world who did not get a vaccine, and who have died. There are also some anti vaxxers, who have not caught COVID, and who can still be carriers to spread the virus around. I had had my 2 shots, and am just waiting to be sick with the delta variant, as the news is out that most of us will be getting sick sometime in the future. Yet on the Canadian news tonight in Calgary, there are about 50 people who are anti vaxxers and are protesting a covid passport, as they think that it infringes on their freedom. Idiots all. in my opinion. Geezer
  22. It is still low tourist season. Best to wait for the High tourist season, and join the hordes of tourists that TAT claims will be flocking to Thailand. Stay healthy and covid free. High season will be here soon, and then maybe some of the rules etc. ,will be a bit more relaxed. Of course that is if you can believe anything that TAT generates as the news. Geezer
  23. Official number is 1 million, but I wonder what the real number of cases, and death really are? Even the numbers from Indonesia is likely somewhat lower that the actual numbers, but likely closer than the numbers from some other countries. The USA even admits that their numbers are lower than the actual cases, and deaths. By the way the USA is far from being over the pandemic, their current wave of the delta variant is hitting many states hard. Pandemic continues, stay tuned. Geezer
  24. In the USA, I am quite sure that this incident would have ended up much different. Bang, Bang, okay, folks, show is over, nothing to see here. just another dead yaba druggie. Geezer
  25. I see the complaints about Thailand, but I also wonder just how easy it is go go to Vietnam, or lets say Australia, New Zealand, etc. I doubt that getting to Europe or Great Britain would be as hard as getting to especially Australia. Getting to Thailand is not so tough, but getting back to Canada is the big gamble for me. Looks like the Winter of 2022 for me to try go to Thailand. Geezer
