Anybody loading up on BTC on this dip?
Classic Ray replied to In Full Agreement's topic in Cryptocurrency News
Crypto, like forex or stock trading, is just legalised gambling. Very popular in Thailand where most gambling eg casinos or sports betting is officially illegal. if gambling is your thing, crypto is as good as anything to spend your money on. -
Once again confusion caused by treating apples as oranges. Saying marijuana should be restricted to medical use to protect children mixes two separate issues. Marijuana consumed by adults gives pleasure as well as being therapeutic. More than can be said for alcohol, although an uncle of mine was told to have one glass of brandy a day and smoke a cigar to help his heart. He thought one good, more better and drank a bottle a day with his ten cigars for the next twenty years. I digress. Controlling access by children is a separate issue and can be treated like alcohol by regulating purchase age, it won’t be perfect but will impose a measure of control, dependent, like with alcohol, on the level of enforcement, not on whether laws on prohibition are present.

Punishment of a police officer or doctor, persons in a position of responsibility and trust, should be more severe, not less. The police officer who ran down the doctor on a pedestrian crossing whilst unlicensed and riding a high powered motorcycle, and now this police officer and doctor, degrade the reputation of the Royal Thai Police. To counter this, it’s time to alter the attitude both of the police management and the public. This is firmly the responsibility of the Government. How about it?

Thailand’s Interior Ministry considers tighter gun controls
Classic Ray replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
There should also be a system for renewal of certificates with requalification of all the conditions including insistence on gun cabinets, coupled with a way to seize guns from those who break the conditions or become mentally unsuitable. The British have such a system which may have prevented the massacre in Northern Thailand, as he was more likely to be overpowered before he knifed the children. -
I agree, the statistic of 566% is meaningless without actual trustworthy numbers, which I cannot find anywhere. It could be the difference between 1 & 7. Overdosing in a country where education about drugs, as well as everything else, is of such poor quality is inevitable until the street smarts and product quality control enables users to determine safe levels of consumption. I still think taking cannabis is safer than crossing the road here, even on a pedestrian crossing.

Just make sure you check the fire exit routes of any clubs you go into and take care crossing any road in Thailand, then you may have some chance of survival. -
Anyone having issues with 3BB and International connections?
Classic Ray replied to MJCM's topic in IT and Computers
I have noticed my 3BB Fibre in Bangkok has slowed significantly over last couple of days, especially YouTube which is usually lightning fast. -
Insurance for Driving Thai Girlfirends Car
Classic Ray replied to Steve80's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Not in the U.K., unless it is company car, usually the policyholder and named drivers only are insured. -
If the RTP are serious about this we can look forward to 1. Videos of hundreds of seized guns being steamrollered before being thrown into furnaces for melting down. 2. Independently witnessed destruction of hundreds of kgs of seized drugs. These two actions will allay any fears that seized guns or drugs are not simply recycled back into the market by corrupt officers seeking profit.

What is lacking here is the planning for the roadworks, illumination of advance matrix and physical signs and extensive coning off of lanes beforehand to provide safe environments for workers and motorists. The authorities have to protect even the idiots as far as possible, and it’s just not done. How often do you drive along a major road and see workers collecting trash or clipping trees and bushes protected by one or no cones?

Will there be any figures produced of current numbers stopped/fined for each offence and then monthly updates of those dealt with under the new legislation? No, didn’t think so.

1. Ensure corrupt practices are rooted out, including conflicts of interest like owning/running bars and nightclubs. 2.Ensure calls for assistance are promptly answered, including those by telephone. 3. Ensure investigations of crimes, including those committed by so-called important persons, are promptly and effectively carried out and arrests and prosecutions follow as appropriate. 4. Ensure safety related activities to prevent loss of life such as road safety patrols, checks of vehicles and drivers/riders, patrols of swimming places, and crime prevention including school visits and patrols are carried out. Oh, and get your hair cut!

Kids left on school vans: New RTP chief orders a crackdown
Classic Ray replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The responsibility is firmly with the teacher/escort and the driver to check the van together. Also, why did no one notice the absence of the child from class? Don’t they tick a register, and make enquiries with the staff and parents if someone is absent? No action should be necessary from a small child to ensure their own safety, it is the job of the parents or the people paid to act in their place, in loco parentis, when they are not with their parents. -
Should the Thai government ban mobile use for motorcyclists?
Classic Ray replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Nothing will change due to lack of official concern ( only affects poor people) and lack of enforcement. This is the Thai way. -
In that situation she should surely check in with the US passport, which satisfies the airline she is visa exempt, then on arrival in Thailand show only the expired Thai passport.

Bangkok gets tough with motorcyclists riding or parking on pavements
Classic Ray replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
Not very effective when there are so many bikes that have no registration plate or whose registration/ownership has expired. Time to seize unregistered bikes and crush them if not legit. Only measure that works for unregistered or uninsured vehicles in U.K. -
I am not a psychologist but I think part of the problem, due to lack of education, training and different culture, is that people do not transition properly from walking to riding motorcycles or driving. They think they can operate a vehicle with the same lack of care and consequences they have when they are on foot. I can see them gabbing on the phone as they get in or on and start driving. The phone, or the kids squabbling in the back, has their attention rather than the operating of an up to two ton lump of lethal metal. Stall holders load their bikes up with provisions for delivery and ride off one handed as they continue to chat to neighbours. While they take such little care or pride in driving, as it’s not instilled in them in schools or society, then the carnage will continue.

I had a quick trip to KL and back last week and found the departure from Suvarnabhumi quite quick and efficient. Just a visual check of boarding pass and passport to enter the Departure zone. Re entry permit process quick, hand baggage/body scanner included belt, watch, shoes, laptop and power banks out, bit more thorough than KL end, small queue for Immigration. on return, hand baggage scanned at KLIA departure lounge, Immigration queue at Bangkok quite short and desks well staffed. If tourist numbers increase may be different, but well done so far.
