You do not need Tabian Ban to get a Thai Passport. Does your child have a Thai ID card? You need a House registrationto get that. It does not take 5 days to get a passport; 24 hours to have it delivered. There is no reason you cannot leave on your UK passports. If you leave on the Thai passports, without UK passports then there would be a need for visas for the uk, which is obviously nonsense, if you have UK passports. Children cannot overstay, and I have never heard of a problem with 'expired Thai passports' . As far as I know there is no regulation that requires you to enter and leave on the same passport. Much of this does not add up!

I wonder what happened to all those charming young men who used to work on Concorde?

So much wisdom here. Such exciting lives. My words of advice: Go to bed when Mrs reaches for the knife drawer in the kitchen.

it has taken me most of the night to think of this..but I think the attitude/spirit you are after is this: Χαρωπό
Blithe!!

Having been flogged, in the UK, repeatedly, every week, from 8 to 18 for 'General Attitude' ie not subservient to 'authority' (and I sure was a bolshy kid),I can assure you it results in the most obdurate, antisocial, unlovable human being on earth. I am amazed I have survived.

This is a very, very, serious forum devoted to retarded (ie non English speaking)people who are in need of serious help as a consequence of their inability to fathom the relatively simple rules of obtaining and/or renewing and extending a Thai visa. Your frivolous narcissism has no place in these august columns. The fact that Greece is For Sale as a result of the dubious business practices of some of your compatriots might make you not gay, but cheer up you are, I presume, not there, but here where everyone is smiling 'cheese'

I see some moderating/twitching already
Costas, you must not wind them up!
W.B. Yeats heard Oscar Wilde lecture at the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin.[8]

I thought the whole point of coming to to Thailand was to re-invent oneself. Every girl who goes to BKK to work does this..so why not you? Being now an honourable 'family man' I can no longer remember which alias was an alias for which alias:)

Humor is connected with intelligence, which is on short supply on this planet.

Most rabbits like whole vegetables. I presume it is the same with bunny girls?. Something to get their teeth into. Carrots, cucumbers, spuds....

We have a beautiful house in CM.
We have, as you say, left and gone to greener pastures! In Thailand
1. The schools have got useless. Dara has 8000 students. Varee appears to have given up on education. Anuban CM pleaded with us not to send the youngest there
2. The traffic is out of control
3. Smoke
4, We were living in what was quite a vibrant community. Everyone has left, the children have no friends. Might as well live in Bisbee

Much depends on your plans for their future. Ours were raised, as far as was possible, in a multicultural environment where an understanding and acceptance of the differences between cultures were a regular topic over supper. There is a pretty uncompromising attitude among Thais that if you do not know how to conform with Thai behavior and culture you will have a pretty tough time if you wish to live and work with Thais in a Thai milieu. My Thai family's jaws drop when they are in Europe and see the insouciance, freedom and lack of conformity of the children, let alone the adults. My view, which I pretty much keep to myself for the sake of the children's social life, is that Thai 'culture' is a dead weight. It is a bit like language..Thai for school, English for home. I have tried to teach them to discriminate. Being Thai is part of going to school and being with Thai people. At home they can be as outrageously 'western' as they like!

Bad luck! Grindting!
It can be very grim!
Interestingly, for me, most of my long term Mandarin speaking friends are, after 10 years or so, leaving!

Who on earth needs a 'guide' to Phuket? Sure you might need to haggle with some transports..but it is hardly like venturing into Tibet.

Dear, oh dear, TV is TV. Who wants didactic soap operas? I have some advice!! He said pompously! Stop meddling, keep your mind on the ball and get on with the job. Bribery, corruption, suborning of officials, the education system, transport, water management are a few things more important?

Never mind the dross!
Never mind avatars and imaginary selves!
Tell us true!
What do you actually LIKE about Thailand. In what ways is it 'better' or at least on a par with 'home'?

Not the half of it. Very dysfunctional family as I discovered. Mother 5 children, 3 fathers, husband (well not) 3 families 3 children.....I took the kid and left! Then father, apparently sober, but in a weelchair, returns with daughter, demanding money for abandoning daughter and grandchild.. Have you lived? Yet? Then..........oh well another time!!Oh Yes! Previous father in law. Unable to deal with daughter having farang baby. Mounts the stairs wielding large knife to kill farang and grand daughter. . Unfortunately so drunk he had a stroke and fell over backwards down stairs. Still living. Thais say: Oooh Farang have very strong spirits...don't think they had Johnny Walker in mind
First time I have ever heard a Thai not welcoming a half Thai baby into the family

I need glasses. I though your post said: How much can you make per rat. Well on the CM-BKK highway evidently a Baht or two!

I love Trolls. They don't half get a worked up set of responses, sometimes!
I went and bought some adult diapers. OOh they ain't cheap and I am very fussy about the Meiji and Dutch Mill milk
never mind Dumex and Enfagro or in my case Oldiegro. Anyway, I can iron and cook and have enough money for Gin for the baby; so if someone wants to give me 10K B to stay at home,
not work and have a baby. PM me.

The political adage is:It is the Economy, stupid
Thai Education adage: It is the Teachers, stupid
I agree reform of education is critical to the future of Thailand. There are few nations that have actually managed to solve the conundrum of what schools are actually for..certainly not the US and UK. It is all very well for Singapore and Korea to come top in all kinds of tests..but 'education/' I think not. From my experience of having children in Thai schools, the over riding impression is that the teachers do not care a *** they have jobs for life, the banks lend them money for cars and houses because they are civil servants. They have no knowledge of learning methods other than preaching from a blackboard..Prayuth has a big problem!
