Well the humidity has been terrible in Chonburi with Temps in the 90s.  They just announced rainy season coming early.  Sounds good to me high temp today was only 87 with a good shower this afternoon. March April and now May the ac does not stop.

Most Thai's follow the rules.  They stop at red lights.  They drive on the correct side of the road.    They do not drive there motorbikes on the sidewalk.  And they are very polite and helpful.  

   As for the rest ,  well  ?????

Do you like to eat cheap Thai food or will you eat farang food ? This will effect your budget big time. I can live easy on 60 baht per meal for Thai food. A good farang meal can easily cost 300 baht or more.  Renting a motorbike is a good idea.  I think you will have a hard time on only a 40,000 baht buget. But good luck and let us know how it goes.

If your Verizon phone has a global setting then you can put a Thai Sim card in and it will work just fine.  I have a Motorola Razor HD.  Just switch back to Verizon Sim when you land in America.  

You will have to use the +66 to make calls in Thailand.        

I use AIS  1 2 call prepaid

GSB   will not let you add to fixed funds account.     Bank book will not update.  You have to open up a seperated account for intrest to be deposited.   This is one crazy banking system

Just realized they did not give me a new 90 day report slip.  Can't wait to see how this goes Monday.

Should be fine.  just get copies of bank book stamped at the bank. should be same stamp they put on the letter.   just had this problem today.  My copies of bank book not stamped.   was sent away.
