Thailand and Indonesia could soon become home for some lucky Aussies

My Mother called a flat white, "coffee milk" and would add a spoon of sugar to it. My dad drank it straight black and when asked why he always said "I like my coffee like my women, dark and mysterious"..... -
I still use checks for payment when in the US. My GF asked me how it could be used as real money and not seen as fake. I then explained it to her and she just stared at my check book. She had never seen a check before here in Thailand, but on the trip to the US saw folks using checks in many stores. True story.

You do understand that if the till is short then they must make up the difference themselves right?. Gave a lady cashier a purple, yes a 500 thb bill for a payment of 499 Thb, she then handed me back the purple and 1 Baht in change. I stood there with the note in one hand and the baht in the other and in Thai asked her if she had given me the right change back. I told her she had given me 500 thb too much. She shook her head and when I asked her again she shook her head no. The manager came over and asked what was wrong. I again explained it to him. He then went to the till and put in a code which would tell him the amount the machine should have in it. Then he proceeded to count the till out. He then disappeared and came back with his cell phone and showed me the video of the transaction from the system, showed the cashier and then asked me to keep the purple 500 Thb as well as giving him the 1 baht back. He then canceled the transaction and then had the cashier do it again. This time the bill was 499 Thb again and I handed the cashier the purple 500 Thb, and she placed it in the till and then handed me 1 baht back after ringing in the payment, which she had not done before. I felt bad for the people behind me as this was a cash transaction and shoukd have been quick......I wonder how she became a cashier....sigh. This was at a well known home store BTW.

Govt: Thailand to Become International Hub of Electric Vehicles
ThailandRyan replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
No that's why they fit into the equation. By reducing hours, saving power, they will be able to use the power saved to power the hub of EV's.....makes perfect sense. Just open the shops and so on from 10 am to 6pm, then close so the EV's can be charged and driven the next day..... -

However, when you add in your 1900 Thb extension and your 3800 Thb ME reentry permit the cost is more than the 5k a year the LTRWP visa costs for it's 10 years at a cost of only 50k Thb, plus you get stamped in for 5 years, and you only report once a year, no immigration reporting every 90 days. Sure it's not easy for many to obtain based upon the qualifications needed, but if you can then why not. The bonus is you don't need to park 800k in an account, or 400k if married to a Thai. If your not married to a Thai but another nationality they can be added on as well for 50k Thb and no money on the bank. For me it was a no brainer as we can travel back and forth with no issues unlike before ensuring we had the reentry permit and then dealing with the 90 days and i/o every year for the extensions. So much cheaper than using an agent as well. -

Why live Thai style on a fraction of what comfortable living is. You have become cheap it appears. -

Depends on his taste and style of the house and accesorizations he installed.. My condo was 25 Mthb 156 sqm penthouse in BKK, and my house 9.2 MThb. The house is 245 sqm with a pool on half a Rai within walking distance to the beach....I just added more built-in granite top cabinets in the kitchen and others in the Bedrooms as built in dressers. Added a Storage building as well. It all comes down to living how you want if you can afford to. In the end you can't take it with you. I also picked up the LTRWP Visa. So instead of throwing 1 Mthb at an Elite Visa I only spent 50k for 10 years. -

You can buy a house in your name, but the land it sits on is done by a 30 year leasehold which is registered at the Land office. You can then possibly extend another 30 years, but then will someone who is 65 still be around in 30 years. My house and my condo will be passed onto my heirs via a trust and will, already certified and in file with the proper locals, both here and in the US. -
Many Republicans Want Trump Convicted and 'Out of Their Way': Attorney
ThailandRyan replied to Scott's topic in World News
Just found this article and about spit my evening drink out the end of my nose.....ludicrous, that people think of this feces. Here's how Donald Trump could theoretically run for president in 2024 and govern the US from prison, according to 9 legal scholars (msn.com) The Constitution won't stop Trump from running, even if he's behind bars. But getting elected and running the country from prison would be complicated. Trump faces numerous points of legal peril. See more stories on Insider's business page. Picture this: It's 9 p.m. on January 13, 2026 — a Tuesday — and you tune in to your favorite cable-news network to watch the president's annual State of the Union address. But this year, the president doesn't take a bulletproof limo from the White House to the US Capitol. Gone are the hundreds of members of Congress traditionally in attendance. Instead, the commander in chief is wearing an orange jumpsuit, his message streamed to lawmakers and into your living room via Zoom from his prison cell.
