OK, but the airline will just know I handed them a grubby piece of paper saying I'm vaccinated right?  There's not going to be a worldwide online database recording information on every vaccinated person, is there?

I've had to show my yellow fever vaccination proof to lots of African immigration officials, they go by yellow vaccination card I hand them, there's no database to check.

Well maybe the grubby piece of paper will be ok in Africa but flying into most countries your covid vax details will be entered into the airline computers.

What online file?  If I want to fly from Thailand to Cambodia on Air Asia, what will the airline and Cambodian immigration check other than my grubby piece of paper saying I was vaccinated?

When you fly into any country the immigration have a computer in front of them, everything is there. It's all connected with the airlines. Flight manifests and info on passengers is entered into online files.

  3. Hasn't happened to me for some years now but often in the past I'd be eating & drinking somewhere and I'd feel a burning itchiness coming in the palms of my hands and soles of my feet. My palms would turn red, and then I'd feel my face and chest get hot and turn red. When I pulled my shirt off I'd see red blotches on my body, this condition would last for a few hours then subside. It happened to me maybe  half a dozen times a year. I never found out what caused it, but suspect maybe too much MSG in the food.

Hi, good advice. To be honest I use it on my non-drinking days (50mg) 3 days a week just to help me sleep but i think I might re-think that. Good you are ok now.

I was first given it by a dentist in Sri Racha, lovely stuff, when that ran out I spotted some on a pharmacy shelf and got some more. Fast forward a few years and I needed rehab/detox. Anyway, I know what you mean about need something to sleep on non drinking days, I do too, I take half a xanax tab. Works well. I realize I may have developed a mild dependency on my half xanax but it's nothing I can't handle, Tram on the other hand was off the rails, if I went to bed and forgot a dose I'd wake around 2 or 3am with legs shaking & twitching and would get up, drop a Tram and suffer for an hour or so til the Tram kicked in and I could sleep again.

Where do you get that idea? There is a massive pent up demand for international travel and contrary to many beliefs many people have more money than ever because they haven't been able to spend it, if they have kept their jobs of course. I just saw a local travel agency stating that the demand for next winter's holiday packages to Thailand was even six times higher than a year ago, pre-Covid.

Not so sure I'd believe what a local travel agent said. How long does a holiday package last? A few days to a few weeks, so 2 weeks Q in Thailand, and more than likely 2 weeks Q when you fly back home. For what? Just to sit under a coconut tree? Add running the risk of contracting covid inside an airplane or at an airport, plus the visa/permission, covid tests/insurance costs...then if there's a major outbreak of a new strain you risk being caught in a lockdown, unable to return home to your job & family, so you find yourself stuck in a foreign country. And at the present time Thailand is not particularly a nice destination with many bars/restaurants/shops/businesses shut, and long lines of Thais for handouts, plus rising xenophobia (been reports of foreigners not allowed on buses & trains).

What about a Smart TV with Android?

Surely that is better than an old TV with  a box.

Did you know you can buy a Smart Android TV 55 " for 11k?

My TCL Android smart TV comes with a bunch of things pre-installed, I mostly just have it on YT because everything is already there...news, movies, shows and on and on. And I cast from my smart phone to the TV if there's a particular movie/show i want. Very happy with my TCL smart TV, one of the best things I've bought, cost me under 5000bt in Makro.

True ID has no monthly charge for the basic channels.

premium channels have to be paid for.

Premier League costs 299 Baht a month.

Smart TVs are pretty much useless.

An Android box is far better.

Download Mobdro app. Not perfect but it kind of works.

Free and has all the sport channels.

I had a look at Mobdro and read "Mobdro continuously searches YouTube for the best videos and then provides the users with all the links in just one place." So does it offer anything beyond YT? Because if not why bother? I have YT on my smart TV already and watch flicks, docos, news and other things now.

So it would work with WIFi?

I thought an Android TV wouldn't need smartphone.

You connect the Android smart TV to any wifi, in my case that's the hot spot from my smartphone, which is 10mb speed unlimited data DTAC pre-paid. My laptop, my android TV, and my wife's phone all connect to that hot spot...no problems at all.

A vacc stamp in your passport at the time of vaccination and along with unique traceability with global access could provide the " proof of inoculation " . However one foolproof action could be a finger <deleted> blood test at the point of departure  ( 30 minute turnaround ) coupled with passport info  .Gotta find a simple solution to open up the world soon . Global economies may be able to borrow their way out of this mess in the short time but any prolonged event could end up with daily living ,working routines , recreation activities and entertainment venues  to be ways of the past .

For now proof of vaccination + a PCR test not less than 72 hours before departure, is as good as it's gonna get. If every single human being on the plane and at all airports has been vaccinated and tested, then that's as safe as anyone can expect. The chances of being infected are so miniscule. International travel and tourism businesses should open up again under those conditions.

Some countries are opposed to 'Vaccine' passport - No support in USA and  Canada  PM Trudeau already say he opposes because it is discriminatory. 2 countries who have mismanaged their pandemic response, so I am not surprised.

What do you mean, not "getting their share"?  These countries had every opportunity to make pre-orders for vaccine like other countries did. Oxford vaccine is a cheap as it gets and India will be manufacturing for the poor countries. How many of these countries put up some money to prepare? Instead of building up armies and looting their treasuries, they could have invested a small sum in  preparation or at least reserving/ordering vaccine for health care workers. What's not right is trying to blame others for selfish mismanagement.

I read that Thailand has been offered the license for AZ and Thailand has an excellent producing facility and Oxford suggested that Thailand has the capabilities to produce enough vaccine for their own needs and could also supply some of the neighboring countries with the AZ. Whether Thailand gives a rats about helping out Burma, Lao, Cambodia is another thing altogether.

    Covid positive in OCT 2020

4 Covid neg tests since then

    2 Vaccine injections (MOD)

I have yet to see any local or international travel restrictions relaxed on my behalf.  However, I am anxiously awaiting any progress on it.  If and when that evolves, I am somewhat intrigued has how it will be administered.  Certainly a local immunization card won't be accepted.

You're one of the first, many will follow in the months ahead and then more attention to details will be done on the international travel restrictions for vaccinated people...it'll come soon. As already discussed in this thread a likely way to provide proof is for hospitals/doctors to add a persons vaccination record to their immigration files online, or PP chips. That will prevent the use of fake documents (like Khao San Road covid vax certificates) So when checking in at airports your covid vax details are there for check in and Imm staff to access and confirm. In many countries there could also be photo ID cards. When I did my Thai DL a couple years ago, they had a big printing machine in the office, they took my photo and a couple minutes later a card came out with my photo, and assorted details printed on it.
