My son in Australia is quite envious, he has to pay 5 times as much to get the same speed as I do here.

I can remember back 20 years ago I'd really look forward to making a trip back to Australia so I could get decent internet, now the exact opposite is the case. When I'm in Australia I get a Vodafone sim, costs me about double what it costs me per month here in Thailand and whereas in Thailand I get unlimited d/l, in Australia I get 15-20gig a month, so streaming movies and doing large d/ls are out of the question as I need to be constantly conserving data.

  2. I got DTAC pre-paid 10mb unlimited d/l sim in my smart phone. I hot spot that and connect my laptop, my wife's smartphone and the smart TV. I have no complaints at all, I d/l music from various blogs all day long on my laptop, while watching news and movies on the TV, while my wife is playing around on FB or watching cooking vids on YT.

yes the morally bankrupt tedros doesnt have the moral authority to give an opinion .... should be tried in world court for covering it up for ccp....

Yes, and that damn Bat Woman should be hauled before the international court of justice in the Hague and examined and interrogated to get to the bottom of how the virus got out of her lab and how much clean up & cover up took place immediately after.

Ya din need a flight BKK to Perth.????For months last year you could have flown BKK to USA daily. Then you relax there for an indeterminate period of time while waiting for a repatriation flight , at you own expense. Most basic hotels in San Francisco are cheap now, just about $125 USD per night minimum.  Add $50 dollars for  food per person Might only be a few months. Then get to Sydney lock, down for two weeks for what $AUS 3000? Are you allowed to fly to Perth from Sydney then for another 2 week quarantine or do you have to buy/rent a house in Sydney?

See how easy it is? Every expat in Thailand???? is a Multi-Millionaire!

Yep, you sum it up well. While doing 2 weeks quarantine in Sydney for $aud4000, I'd apply for a permit to enter WA, flight Sydney to Perth, approx $aud600, and depending on the covid situation in NSW at the time, upon arrival in Perth could well be taken to another quarantine hotel for a further 2 weeks at another $aud4000. Fortunately, I'm quite comfortable here in Thailand and can wait it out. Just hope this pandemic doesn't drag on for years and years or I may well have to bite the bullet and go through all the hassle of finding my way back to Perth.

Talking about restrictions: What is the point to allow restaurants to serve food, but no alcohol, other than to hurt the restaurant sector even more?

It's a Thai thing. You've seen Thai males drinking, after a few glasses they're got an arm around the guy next to them, talking loudly directly into his face, after a few more they're become belligerent and shouting at everyone, spraying aerosol droplets everywhere.

    Quote from above:

"The Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha said today that Thailand is currently not receiving deliveries of the AstraZeneca’s vaccine, which is scheduled to start in June."

    Quote from yesterday:

"Prayut also revealed that the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine purchased by the government will gain approval from the Thai Food and Drug Administration (FDA) this week."

Am I having a comprehension issue, or are those two statements contradictory?

It's like they don't care. Maybe they'll secure a few doses for the hiso and just give the masses some BS about waiting to make sure the vaccines are safe.

Honestly i cant see it improving this year  Maybe 2022 a chance Oh well I am Aussie and I am having a great time  No hurry to go home

Yes, I agree. I was optimistic that rapid mass vaccination would make a big impact and we could get on top of this virus in 2021, but so many are dragging their feet...in particular the two countries that effect me, Thailand and Australia. Neither seem to be particularly interested in cranking up mass vaccination programs. Morrison said vax will start in late Feb, but a couple days ago I heard Gladys B. say nothing's going to start until end of year. So maybe 2022. And no doubt in 12 months time from now we'll say "Maybe 2023"

I smell something fishy here. If he has no money, how did he survive in Thailand for one year?

No friends or family to help him return back to Australia is also fishy. How did he fly to Hong Kong in the first place to do his 'business'?

There are many who are barely surviving. I had no idea until I made a short trip to the North a few months ago. All the farang around me where I live in Korat are OK - older guys on retirement or married visas, they have Thai wives, have pensions, have homes and cars, and regardless of covid they are living the good life. But when I went to CM and Pai I saw younger backpacker types who have been stuck in Thailand since March, so many look destitute. I have no idea how they are managing, perhaps family members back in their home countries are sending money, perhaps Thais are helping them. But there are some sad cases out there. Plenty of people all around the world who are stuck in foreign countries unable to return to their homes.

As I said (again), wait and see - that article is now a month old, so revision is (IMO) likely.

And as @TSF said  "Not correct, those people's medical records, including vaccinations, are stored in the hospital/doctor's records. So if/when they need proof of vaccination they can get it easy."

Don't forget that this is (still) a largely unprecedented situation. When I get called, I'm going to take my Yellow / Blue book and ASK for the vac to be logged. If not, it will probably be shown on one's NHS Health Record - here's a screenshot of part of mine:

    Immunisations

    14 November 2020 10:59 am

Administration of first inactivated seasonal influenza vaccination

Thing to remember is that the majority of people won't need or want any proof of vaccination. All those old folk in age care, or just old folk at home, doubt any are making travel plans so they have no need for any proof. So for now it's really going to be the frequent travelers who will need to show proof, plus some people who'll require it for work purposes.

The UK has now vaccinated over what......3 million now ?

    Zero vaccination certificates issued.

    Zero apps.

All over the world vaccination has commenced..........tens of millions of people.  And no vaccination certificates have been issued.

Can you not get that into your heads........all you "vaccination certificate" freaks.

Not correct, those people's medical records, including vaccinations, are stored in the hospital/doctor's records. So if/when they need proof of vaccination they can get it easy.
