I went to the Mariot with about a dozen others on Valentines Day, 2004, showed up at 1100 and we spent the whole day, ate till we dropped, and got snickered on free champagne, wine, whiskey you name it............There was also an Indian Resturant, Queen's Tandoor that had a super sized Buffet, all you can eat for one price .................... Those were the days. - I wonder if Block M is still open??

My Uncle was a Carnie in Rocky Point Carnniville, Warwick, Rhode Island - he always said his job was to separate you from your money as fast as he could, legally, and without force - that man was so convincing, he could sell a refrigerator to someone on the North Pole. .............. Fleecing visitors has been going on for centuries.............. Peace

RT-PCR test requirement on arrival in Thailand to remain in place
MyFriend You replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Friend of mine arrived last night from Dubai, took PCR at airport, was called this morning, negative, he hit the bricks in Bangkok this afternoon............easy peasy when you have the Thailand Pass, and he did it all on-line from West Africa. His only complaint was having to buy the Thai Insurance since he has adequate insurance from US. Peace -
Thailand Wants Cross-border Haze Solution
MyFriend You replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
True, I have lived in both Cambodia and Indonesia, couple years each - Thailand has nothing on Indonesia when it comes to smoke - was so bad, many evacuated to Singapore one year - couldn't breath. Cambodia burns everything, you name it, goes up in flames, smokes everyone out. Peace -
Really?? I can remember when it was against the law to harm or even talk bad to a Lady boy..........they were protected by Buddhist Law. The Govt looked on them as demented and sick in the head, not in control of their faculties...............when arrested they were often taken to Temples to undergo psychiatric treatment. I know for a fact, when I owned bar, one LB that used to come around was gathered up by BIB and taken to the temple in Jom Tien for a month.

I suppose it is akin to "It''s their country, their rules" Thailand has a long way to go, let's face it, wasn't long ago when they tore out the centerfold out of Playboy magazine, and advertisers could go to jail for showing Girls in their underwear, or cloud out someone smoking a cigarette on TV.............Step by Step.

That would have been an interesting topic, but was closed before anyone had a chance to respond...........Wonder why??

I live in Jom Tien and am happy to hear they are allowing beer on the beaches, too bad I am stuck in Hawaii at the moment or I'd be down there with them................but I don't buy the 'Kiss the Tourists Goodbye" they are just being delayed for a while - soon they will be back in force and people will be making money just like 2018. Tourists are a resilient bunch..............Peace -
New Govt committee to sustainably address overpriced lottery tickets
MyFriend You replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Are there any Government Lottery Offices selling tickets at the correct price?? I had found a few ladies that sold them baht 80 each, but expected a tip after you bought them - okay, I tip everyone anyway so no sweat. But in Vietnam, there are govt lottery offices everywhere with tens of thousands of tickets for sale every day. -

SURVEY: Health Insurance for foreigners -- Good idea or not?
MyFriend You replied to Scott's topic in Thailand News
Mea Culpa Internationalism answered my inquiry back a couple pages, sent these links - but cutoff is still 75 yo: till 75 yo, but only one policy "visa friendly" and not cheap. below 70yo some other insurers. https://misterprakan.com/th/health/plans?gender=Male&age=75&lg=en&ipd=1&opdf=0&leadid=348157 at 65 there is choice of 4 insurers, can be carried with them to 90 or longer https://misterprakan.com/th/health/plans?gender=Male&age=65&lg=en&ipd=1&opdf=0&leadid=348157 -
SURVEY: Health Insurance for foreigners -- Good idea or not?
MyFriend You replied to Scott's topic in Thailand News
At what cost may I ask?? I have read many posts in the past 12 years that basically says Thai Health Insurance companies won't insure older folks. I inquired with Aetna International and was quoted almost $7700 USD a year (for Thailand) for a single man 72 years old. and doesn't cover pre-existing conditions. Threw that in the bin. So what would I expect to pay for Thai Aetna at 72 yo per year - I already have Aetna National Insurance in USA that would cover Covid treatment, hospitalization etc etc. at 100% unlimited coverage. But not sure if Thai Immigration will accept that. -
SURVEY: Health Insurance for foreigners -- Good idea or not?
MyFriend You replied to Scott's topic in Thailand News
I chose Number 2 only as an alternative to the others, I agree with all of the above, the sticking point, as pointed out by "Thanks for Nothing ((Bangkok Post letter)), is Thai Insurance companies will not insure older folks above (??)55 years old. Expats on long term Visa's, own property, have a business, pay taxes should be able to be covered under the Govt Plan, or at least the be treated as local residents...............I have health insurance, always have, and have spent a good amount of money in past 10-15 years in hospitals here..........my insurance covers 80% of everything and 100% of anything Covid related - will Thai Immigration or any Thai Consulate accept that?? Remains to be seen. -
They need too add another charge against him......"Poor taste in car color".....if I had the money to buy a Ferrari it would have to be either Red or Yellow and Black - not Gray, a gray Ferrari is a crime in itself.

Great idea, but they are illegal, if caught abusing an animal with one of these, you can be arrested, fined and even jailed in Thailand - I knew an Aussie Pub owner in Jom Tien that took the law in his own hands over stray dogs, spent 90 days in the slammer, and fined B100,000. He was turned in by a can and plastic bottle mamasan when she saw him doing what he did.

Hope the kool aid you were given was sweet. Your statement is not true in any sense of the word. We have had to destroy a few dog's when no matter what you do to prevent it, they killed chickens and our domesticated Doves & Pheasants by the dozens. Well kept, well fed, walked regularly had acres of rice land to roam whenever we allowed them, no matter what we did, they would kill the birds - not eat them, just kill them. over ten years, my neighbors killed 4 or 5 of my animals, all family, and I have had to give dog's to the humane society folks. My point is once a dog decides it wants to do something, there is nothing a human can do to stop it. We got lucky and now have 2 well trained dogs who could give a rats tail about a chicken, don't chase them, don't kill them either..........again from the same family of dog's. As Csxrnz above says "...."can go from playful to psycho bitch in a blink of an eye.

I see a trial, then a magnificent escape from Prison, then on the lam internationally............quick calls to Interpol and Europol, while they all sit on a beach in the South Pacific with no extradition treaty with Thailand - no one makes that kind of money in ill gotten gains without a Plan B. We shall see.

Rats in the Box?? an experiment where a rat is put in a box and taught to pull a lever to get food?? No, thats no way to go out, I always figured I'd pass onto the other world with two bullets in my chest, blood in my mouth and my hands around the neck of the guy that shot me.............there is still a beach out there I haven''t walked on yet so I'll keep on and on until???? ............................. ???? Peace
