  1. I know that some (British) people gathered funds to assist the two through their process.

Everybody (except the BIB, of course) is convinced that the 2 are innocent.

    No. Everyone isn't.

Well, on TVF (not that it makes any difference as we are all armchair detectives anyway), most believe that the B2 are innocent (notable exceptions being yourself, Balo.... seems like JTJ has jumped ship however).

My contact in Interpol also believe that the B2 are innocent but unfortunately, this is out of their jurisdiction.

In any case, time will (hopefully) tell.

"Well, on TVF...most believe that the B2 are innocent..."

Nonsense. As ThaiVisa claims to have over 200,000 members and the posters you refer to number probably 20/30 absolute maximum (I can't be bothered to count them), you are way, way out with your outlandish claim that most of TVF believe what you say.

By saying 'most', if bringing your brain with you & reading into the comment which implies those who are concerned about the subject & making posts, he's actually being very, very conservative.

  2. I bet the RTP are considering bumping off the visiting UK detectives, as that is how they like to make problems disappear. Doubtful it would work in this case, however.

If the RTP were really that stupid to 'bump' off the UK detectives, the next thing you will see would be a nuclear submarine popping up in the Gulf of Thailand coffee1.gifcoffee1.gif

I consider that a silly chauvinistic Rambo comment

  3. The burden of proof argument.

It is incumbent on you to disprove the claim. The article has appeared in numerous media sources from many countries. It is up to you to disprove it not me to prove it. Mainstream media does depending on the support of the British Empire for confirmation any more.

Ok so you can't. That's fine, that's all you had to say.

You are contending a news story that has appeared all over the world. Why would I have to prove the story uneducated person like yourself? I don't like to play the education card but anyone with even a basic understanding of logic would understand the, "Burden of proof argument" as it applies to international media. British media has for years had a less than stellar reputation anyway and I would not rely on it for accurate reporting. Don't try and dumb down the forum with your Thai Bashing prejudice.

You already said you can't do it once... You certainly don't have to do it twice.

  4. You left out the UK and France. The competition featured 172 students from nine countries - France, the United Kingdom, Nepal, Indonesia, the Philippines, South Africa, India, Sri Lanka and Thailand.

If you choose to believe the article in The Nation above Google & the official WIZMIC website then I suppose I'd have to say... Up to you. Propaganda IS effective... who'd have thought it.

Show me a British article that tells you that the UK attended or were due to attend.

  5. Countries competing in the WIZMIC 'international' competition;

    1. Bangladesh

    2. Bulgaria

    3. India

    4. Indonesia

    5. Iran

    6. Nepal

    7. Philippines

    8. South Africa

    9. Sri Lanka

    10. Taiwan

    11. Thailand

    12. Zimbabwe

    No developed countries then.

The Taiwanese are no slouches and India has a staggering Mathematical legacy and tradition. I'm slightly surprised that these two didn't win.

Not in your list, anyway (apart from South Africa), but that wouldn't suit your agenda, would it? You forgot about the UK and France.

Out of the hundreds of thai news articles revealed by a Google search I challenge you to find just one from the French or British press showing that UK or French students attended, if you can, I'll admit that I'm wrong & so is the WIZNIC official website. http://www.cmseducation.org/wizmic/participating_list.htm

Agenda? Yes, to point out a flaw in the newspapers reporting, not the agenda that you may be suggesting.

  7. The whole investigation has been a shame from day 1. The police have no desire to catch the real killers and Muang Muang statement would indicate why.

Now I have been very critical of BKK university and I still stand by my criticism. Nomsods lawyer is using the uni as the kids alibi. I quote

"At university and his residence 13th-15th September."

"Mr Worat also attended classes during that period of time".

"There are university documents that confirmed his class attendance and examination."

So what this lawyer has done is implicate the uni. This kid is being accused of murder. Don't you think the police would investigate this alibi. 1 horribly photo shopped photo does not confirm his whole alibi. The lawyer also says Nomsod is now getting a hard time re these accusations. Well if that's the case shouldn't the uni confirm his alibi. Why no confirmation from the university. Which classes did he attend Mr Lawyer. This is your statement to prove this kid didn't murder someone. Come on BKK uni you have been dragged into this up to your eyeballs.. The lawyer says he was there. He says there are university documents to prove this. Well...... Where are they. Help this poor kid out. Their silence tells me they are involved in the cover up which is a disgrace.. Police let's go confirm the alibi. Especially to u DavidF they didn't say afternoon of 15th they said 13th to 15th. Until we hear from the uni its stinks of a cover up and the uni's reputation is in tatters.

One of the reasons that a thai university degree is next to useless when looking for employment in any civilised nation is that the parents of unqualified and/or stupid kids can buy their way into a course & also buy their degree. Corruption in thailand is not limited to government so an assumption that money has not already changed hands in this case would not be a good one.

Nope. The Nation 'accidentally' added them. http://www.cmseducation.org/wizmic/participating_list.htm

    It's just more national propaganda.

No, but there are many brilliant Indians. The fact that they could win against the Indians is a real accomplishment. I think many Indians are even smarter than many Chinese. The Chinese may be more cunning and more clever in business. But, many Indians are very sharp. Indians make a real mark on the world stage.

There are but most are educated abroad. England mainly. I've seen the Indian education system in action & it's not pretty.

  10. Well, in the P5 book social studies book, they have 3 cartoons of a fat falang approaching a Thai family at a restaurant, no money, smelly and asking for funds. Until they remove that, other changes will not happen.

Yes - i also have seen Xenophobic stuff produced by this system -(prior to Junta )

A daughters friend brought over her school books over whilst we were in Thailand last year.

""Dad look at this "" she asked .

I saw images of western men trying to solve a Car problem.

Both wore Thongs (flip flops) and had singlets on and obese and a beer in their hands -

Looking puzzled , a Thai is then seen fixing the car -

This time the man is neat and looks bright and focused.

The pretty Thai business lady thanks him

Whilst the western men look on with lustful eyes for her and Tongue out.

She tips the Thai man who is seen giving it to the monks at the temple .

    A Thai insert says *(translation)

""Service to others is important even silly Farang can learn from Thai examples"

In another there were more westerners and again portrayed as drinking and smoking and lusting after the woman .

A bar girl is seen being asked by a Monk why she mixes with such people?

""I know such people are sinful but i want to help my family she says""

The western men look again leering and evil as well as stupid and smelly .

This was before the Junta so they can't be blamed

Though i can't imagine whats going to be in future publications

I've seen those kind of stories before. The one I saw from 3 years ago was warning Thai school children about the dangers of meeting farang online and was Thai reading material for Pratom 5 students given out in class. I think Pratom 5 translates to roughly 10 year-old primary school children.

The following are a few pictures from the book. The picture of the farang is not too complimentary whistling.gif

    bF9JGsp.jpg

The story accompanying the pictures went something like this. A couple of young Thai girls meet and chat with a farang online who describes himself as young and handsome so they decide to meet him in Bangkok.

However on meeting up as arranged he turns out to be a 'fat old pot-bellied farang' who's used someone else's photo while chatting to them on the internet. The girls are too embarrassed to leave and he tells them he wants to go try some delicious Thai food. They take him to a restaurant but when it's time to pay he checks his wallet and tells them he's lost his money. The girls end up having to scrape the money together to pay for the meal which they only just manage to do between them. When one of the girls goes to the toilet one of the staff informs her that the farang doesn't live abroad at all but is actually resident in Pattaya and pulls this scam often. The story finishes by warning it was lucky the girls didn't go alone or much worse could have happened.

same as we warned our kids about Thai men in fact not Thai men we said men of any race or woman. Its quite fair to use bad image of many forang here as basically scum bags to warn in particular school girls of dangers of being seduced by nasty forang men. They already know dangers of many this men but like most believe all forang are rich many are totally unaware of some forang also pose very high risks

I for one have never seen these cartoons & they explain a lot about the innate thai view towards white people. This country really does look like North Korea more every day & the education ministry should be ashamed of themselves, this is institutionalised racism.

I'd be very interested in seeing more if anyone wants to scan some of their kids books or post some links to internet based material.

  11. Utter ludicrous to think that the citizens are so naive to believe what the junta text book content. We don't live in the dark ages where the only reading material is the text book and the radio. The more the junta try to brainwash and impose their ideology, we will see more people start to lose faith in the government. We see more media considered as pro establishment warning things can go awry for this government if they take a bias approach to reform, stifle freedom of expression and force feed their brand of ideology. The backlash will come from the next election.

    What election ?

The election that was held a few months back whereby General Prayuth won by a landslide.

  12. "...encouraging tourists to dress properly when not swimming or sunbathing, ask them not to commit intimate acts in public, as well as regulate taxi services and publishing do's and don'ts about Thai culture on leaflets and in other media."

There are two things implied in this comment.

The first one about appropriate dress is virtually the same comment Prayuth got caught saying about women wearing bikinis, seeming to imply they brought it on themselves. So even after that controversy you have these idiots saying almost the same thing.

The second thing is the comment about falang needing to be more aware of Thai culture. However, it was not Thai people who supposedly killed this British couple, but two men from Myanmar, so how did not respecting Thai culture cause this problem...unless it really was Thai people who killed them...ah!

I personally do not see anything wrong with the statement.....I believe we should respect the culture of the country we are in and make sure you do not offend. Yesterday in the Bangkok Samui hospital at 10am a very large (obese) Russian was walking around in and out of the Orthapedics section not wearing a shirt; disgusting sight. How many times do you see tourists walking down the street in bikinis and/or speedos.....or in Tescos.....no Thai would ever do this. All he is saying is if you are not swimming or sunbathing please show some RESPECT for the Thai culture and wear modest attire......after all who are the ones expecting visitors/immigrants to respect our culture when in our countries.....double standards perhaps. This is not Ibiza or the Black Sea....it is Thailand which has its own culture.....respect it!

Complete tosh! You don't see locals wearing bikinis or speedos walking down the road or in supermarkets anywhere in the world so for the thais to do the same is quite normal. Plenty of places in the US or the UK you'd also get disapproving looks from the people for acting in this way so let's get off this 'thai culture & sensibility' bandwaggon shall we? Plenty of 'respectable' thai girls also wear bikinis at the beach & then cover up a little after sundown. An awful lot will never wear a bikini purely because dark skin is seen as a sign of poverty in this country.

This is another blatant attempt to lay the blame elsewhere because the nation as a whole are a childlike people who do not have the ability to take responsibility for their own actions.

If you want to talk about thai culture, please get to know it a little better then have a good look around & try to excuse the statement above when there are hundreds of thousands of bikini clad girls dancing on poles up & down the country every night of the week, often topless & naked if the bar owner had paid enough baksheesh to the cops.

    Thai sensibilities?

    Please.

  13. Nothing will change with UK cops in Thailand and as far as the Thai police knows they have the murderers

Seems these people are quite happy to live in a communist country with no human rights, routine police torture, extreme poverty & no system of justice.

Maybe they should be left to their own devices.
