  1. The atmosphere has turned a bit stale. Still good fun but it's not buzzing, and girls in the bars are notable getting agitated at lack of costumers and the ones that still go out are locals who won't buy them drinks.

. True. Not easy for the girls with many keeneow customers and not many tips. Roll on high season and the 2 week millionairs
  2. I have not seen the Farang wannabee traffic police recently around Tukcom, have the army put them out to pasture?

. Not seen any farang police wannabe lackey near tukom theres 1 outside soi 9 police station about 6"2 maybe more dressed in the brown uniform even got the shades on sad man. Stopped me asked for license just another unpaid tax collector lackey dog for the infamous pattaya boys in brown
  3. Dear how 241,

If you read my post carefully, you will understand it is in a Temple.

I think the sort of massage you are looking for is not available here.

There are many Boy/Man massage parlors that can be found in the Duk Com area, or in Boys Town. I am sure the 'Boys' you find here will not care how old you are, just how much you are going to pay them.

I am told the usual fee here is Baht 1000.

. Spot on. Behind tukom or boys town
  4. Khaosan road is the last end least example of exploitation and bad morals.

This joyful area of youngsters from all over the world, is clean from prostitution and abuse.

You can find real exploitation in soi Nana and soi Cowboy where little children accompany their working mothers in the street food stools and around the Go-Go bars.

Khaosan road has its dedicated police station and patrols of city police. This should be their duty to chase away the little children in the late hours of the night.

  5. Yesterday (Friday) I went to a Korean BBQ restaurant on Petchaburi Road near the Asok-Montri Junction. Every 5 minutes there was a child standing at our table selling roses. Some of them even kept staying at our table for minutes and refused to leave. After being disturbed for the 20th time in an hour, we called for the owner that was a good friend of someone in our company. He said there is nothing he could do about them while they are a pain in the ass. They also are known as pickpockets when they act in groups. They are run by the local maffia (police force) and he could not refuse them, send them of his premises or he would have big problems with the police.

And there is the whole problem in a nutshell. The 'Royal' Thai Police ARE the largest criminal organization in Thailand. Until the RTP are reformed, or disbanded, NOTHING will change.

    . Well said
  6. "But Brits are raised on the fable of a competent properly-funded well-equipped patient-focused national health-service, they ought to know better, and be just a tad more cynical/worldly".

Oh! to be wise after the event!............. and what's this "...they ought to know better..." The girl was 24 for gods sake and her looks were probably all she thought about and it has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the NHS. Yet another poster who equates all of Britain with one poor unfortunate incident.

there are TONNES of posts all over the net warning about healthcare in Thailand....anyone thinking of having stuff done should do as much research as possible. she may have been waiting in a queue in UK or something like that - just speculation at present, but others need to heed this warning and seriously consider what they are doing.

...and there are most likely many, many more satisfied patients that have had successful surgery in Thailand. I doubt if you would hear many negative stories from farang who have made Thailand their home. I am one example and I cannot speak highly enough of the hospital, surgical team and nurses where I had treatment. However, the food was bloody awful. bah.gif

Have to say that seems to be a very naive attitude. Of course tree are loads of "satisfied" patients - in ANY healthcare industry the majority of people come out the other end "relived" - of course they have no way of knowing if everything went smoothly or even that they got the most appropriate treatment.

As for those living in Thailand - I live and work in Thailand and frequently in healthcare, which is precisely why I would NEVER purposely have any serious treatment on a voluntary basis in this country.

just look at those who elect to come here - it's either from a country where the healthcare system is in crisis or very expensive of for non-essential procedures or they live here and have no option - most are also very uneducated she it comes to healthcare and suffer from an extraordinary blind faith in what they perceive as "doctors"

If you have a problem get treated at HOME! it may cost more - unless you are from Europe, but you'll be much safer.

    . Uneducated eh?

How you equate being "...very naive..." with giving a truthful account of one particular procedure beats the hell out of me. Surely if you live and work in Thailand this is your HOME! It is home for me and I would not hesitate for one minute to be admitted into any of the hospitals I have dealt with thus far. Your rather condescending remarks about being uneducated etc etc. give me the impression you are trying to make Thailand into something it is not. If things are that bad for you I think it's time for you to leave HOME and go to that other HOME you have.

  7. Look at what they do not what they say. If they were truthfully concerned with protecting tourist they would have performed the simplistic task of ending the Jet Ski scams. Pattaya Jet Ski scams are viewed worldwide over YouTube continually hurting the image of Pattaya and Thailand's tourism and its happening virtually across the street from their main police station. Obviously they place a higher value on the bribe money they get each month from the scum they permit to run the scam on Pattaya's unsuspecting tourists.

These guys have utterly and completely no credibility. They are merely a group of extortionist with government powers; they prove by there actions they are not interested in protecting Pattaya tourist, theyre interest is not in protecting tourist but extracting money from them.

. Sad but true.. I can only talk about pattaya police never see them at night when all the nasty folk are about Asking farang if they want to buy drugs on beach rd or the older girl who asked my friend as we walked if he wanted to go with her niece who was very much under age. The list is endless, though they sometimes have a checkpoint set up in soi sophon or bongkot in the early hours stopping the thais checking their urine i know because they stopped me and my wife she had to go behind a wall and pee in a bottle (really) no toilet. Daytime there outside police station or soi 11 2nd rd stopping motorbikes.. Easy money. I love pattaya its just sad the police are only interested in what they can take from folk
  8. The law is part of the civil code that children under 15 cannot be fined for certain things. It is based upon this that immigration does not fine them. There will be no problem when leaving.

There was no need for the long overstay because the child could of gotten one year extensions of stay based upon being Thai at immigration for a fee of 1900 baht.

. Always sound advice about visa from ubonjoe
  9. I drive from pattaya to k kaen often and the crazy idiots on the road tailgating 1 inch behind me and undertaking overtaking on blind bends complete idiots no road sense what so ever seems as if they just dont know any better. Had to go cambodia in mini van how the driver didnt kill us I'll never know the passengers had to tell him jai yen yen what a nasty little man he was. Sad news and so young

  10. A Visa Extension based on Marriage is for Married People. If You loose Your Wife or dont have one a Retirement Visa is needed. Why Folks find simple English hard is beyond me.Or is it just Rule Bending. Now in my 26th Year, and never had an issue with Immigration.coffee1.gif .All My Friends here that have Probs, have probs with everything they do here...biggrin.png

Simple english not so simple on thai embassey website.. It clearly states need 65k baht in bank every month for 3month to qualify for 0 visa based on marraige, and the consulate in Hull tell you the same if you call them but on calling london yesterday i was told no need for 65k pr month as im married to a thai ?

  11. This is the story so far. After talking to a staff member at thai embassey london who was quite polite believe it or not i can get 0 visa for 1 year based on marriage to a thai though every 90 days have to leave the country i cannot go to immigration in thailand and report same as retirement visa £125 do not have to show any income which contradicts their website. Cheers

  12. Just off the phone from thai embassey london i am a British and i was told as it says on their website they will not accept my application for o visa based on my legal marriage to a thai without the 65k bht per month in my bank for 3 consecutive months. I post this as i was informed by some members on here who were trying to be helpful that the funds are not required for emb in london for this visa, i have called consulate in Hull and they will issue me with a 3month tourist visa if i go there..Hull.. In person.. Nobody seems to know whats going on at the moment. Regards

  13. Pattaya is a little bit quieter at the minute but sure by january it will be busy, usually starts picking up mid december

I was just down in Koh Chang which was very quiet and you probably read by now on this forum Trat province tourist arrivals are down by 50%.sad.png The business operators on Koh Chang said they need a healthy income for at least eight months of the year to be able to get through the extremely quiet 4 months later on. I assume it's pretty similar for business people here in pattaya so even a busy December and January and February wouldn't do much to help things.

. I think you could be right. My thai wife has business in pattaya and its been a struggle since june. We're just waiting for it to pick up soon.. Of cours closing business's for budha days elections days and the last curfew staff wanting advances on their salary as their not getting tips etc has'nt helped.. So come on high season.. Were waiting
  14. What a gang of racists, morons, uneducated red necks in this forum.

From talking about converting for marriage purposes jumping to Isis and other stupid remarks about a religion most have never read about or known except through fox and racist western media.

Imagine two seconds the following reasoning on Christians. Since priests have been molesting boys all over the worlds, this means Christians are all pedophiles. Since white Christians has committed many criminal genocides in history this means white Christians are genetically criminals and the proof is based on facts.

Many here, do not have the brain, the education, the critical mindset to give advice on subjects they don't master or have knowledge of.

Leave this man follow his heart and don't ruin his life project.

You already ruined yours, go to bars and continue all what you deserve is bar girls. He is at least getting married to clean lady.

. Interesting post that but ruined by the last 4 lines

  15. Pattaya has been cutting its' own throat.

Pattaya needs to understand Westerners spending their money will not be taken for monkeys.

Prices up, crime up, traffic congestion up, infrastructure down.

Pattaya can carry on this way and will see seasonal tourists drop and drop and drop.

Chinese and Indian tourists put little into the economy.

    Laughable really !!

agree 100%, I've been here nearly 10 years and used to go to walking street on a regular basis, it's now been over 2 years since I went near it - they started putting prices up (getting greedy) which then started the usual cycle of decrease customers numbers - increase prices plus the fact that anyone with an ounce of business sense is not allowed to set their own prices due to price fixing in the area, the result is areas like LK metro soi Diana lenky chaphum New plaza soi 7 are thriving while walking street is just that - a walking street with a serious need of a price adjustment to bring back paying customers - drinking street heading the same direction and further a field BanChang lost it a few years back again with price fixing in operation - anyone trying to break the mould will face threats and intimidation - hardly the way to run your own business when you can't set your own prices

. I have a friend has bar in drinking st you know the bars on the front u too bar etc pay 1million bt key money every year the bars at the back pay 350,000 bt its the greedy land owners that have forced the bar owners to increase the price of drinks
  16. Only thai emb london can issue visas now

100% NOT TRUE got a NON O 3 months ago form Birmingham, in at 10am out at 10.30am

It might be The embassy has to approve them via fax/email/phone thru the Birmingham staff but you DONT have to go to London or deal with them in any way.

From all accounts and one phone call I had with them they have a moronic unhelpful take it or leave it attitude.........................almost like a little part of Thailand in the UKlaugh.png

. I agree with attitude of staff in london. Consulate in hull told me they cannot issue visas only london they can check them then pass them onto london. Regards
