  1. I usually holiday for under 30 days so a visa exempt does me. I have used them once however for a TV and I found the service to be fine.

Out of interest what was it you were seeking clarification on?

0 visa based on marriage. I was commenting on their attitude when phoning not about postal service. Regards
  2. They would not let me include stamped address envelope i was told you have to pay £10. More on postal order and they supply the special envelope. They can make an extra £3 that way as there only around £7. To buy, i dare say service is good for postal but i only found that its a bit different when you phone them

  3. I am british i phoned the thai emb in london on two occasions recently only to ask a couple of things that i didnt find very clear on their website. About my visa only to be told Look on website, i told the thai man this is why im calling as i dont understand a couple of things on the website to which his reply was..only you not understand everybody else understand, i asked his name and his answer was to hang up on me, i called back got through to a thai lady who was just as ignorant and rude as the man i spoke to so i did not get anywhere with them. I called thai emb in hull the lady there was very helpful she also said they have many complaints about the staff in london being difficult with customers.

  4. They'd have a field day in pattaya. Same beggars double shifts everyday, afternoon on beach and bars at night.. The kids selling flowers untill after 3am looking so tired they dont get education as their cambodian. Their guardian watching over them scolding them if they dont get a sale, i new trick at mo is the smallest girl goes into the bar crying and with a bunch of roses the farang take pity and give her 20bt or more then she does the same in next bar, police do nothing

  5. My mother in law only wants to chew mahk, too old to do anything but squat on her haunches all day pulling tiny weeds out, occasionally even out of my garden. When she was in the intensive care unit a while back we went to visit her and to her great chagrin they wouldn't let her chew mahk so she got better in one night and was chewing a gobfull on the front steps of the hospital by the time I got the car round. If she ever spills any of it in my car she'll get more than a gobfull from me. I secretly call her creeping death.

  6. . If no work permit you cant do anything if you have bar guest house etc you cannot move a chair pick a glass up or even talk with customers. You are a customer only

How can they extort money when uou provide the documentation everything is legal.

Sitting at a desk relaxing and waiting for someone looks different from someone dressed for work and sitting in a business manner.

You would think the can tell the difference

  7. Thai doctor sees Ebola epidemic not ending soon

BANGKOK, Oct 16 -- A virus expert in Thailand has pointed out that the Ebola virus disease is unlikely to stop spreading and an outbreak in Asia cannot be ruled out because a large number of Asians are working in Africa.

Prof Emeritus Dr Prasert Thongcharoen, advisor to the Department of Disease Control, said that the World Health Organization is concerned and has warned about Ebola because many Asian workers are in Africa and most don't know how to protect themselves from the disease.

Ebola is likely to be contained in some Senegalese towns, Dr Prasert said, but the epidemic remains serious in Guinea and Sierra Leone as most local people have insufficient knowledge about the disease.

"At this stage, I don't see the epidemic as likely to end because it has spread to Ethiopia and other countries," Dr Prasert said.

He also warned concerned parties to watch out for the Marburg virus that he said was more severe as the mortality rate of patients was 40-90 per cent.

The physical symptoms of Marburg patients were the same as those of the Ebola disease, so it was difficult to identify cases of both diseases, and their transmission was also the same, through body fluids, Dr Prasert said.

For this winter he also called for precautions to prevent an outbreak of influenza and coronavirus. (MCOT online news)

  8. Tourism in Thailand is going to keep going up. As always there is going to be occasional yearly dips be it Political, Tsunami or Sars but last year still saw almost 3 times the number of arrivals than 10 Years ago. Tourism makes up about 9% of GDP and near 30% of this is from domestic tourism. While numbers dropped earlier this year, I would not expect much if any of a drop the rest of the year making foreign tourism down just a couple percentage points over the record high previous year. For sure the sky is not falling nor is tourism dying in Thailand as so many here have been predicting for at least the last 10 years.

The thing that will hit tourism the hardest in the coming years is modernization. Many people come to Thailand because it offers a glimpse into the past and is an adventure and cheap. Much of this is going away fairly rapidly. Be it police, Taxis, hotels, night life and so on, as laws and higher standards are enforced then costs and freedoms you can't experience at home will be less attractive. I expect neighboring countries will continue to steal these types of tourists away as Thailand continues to try to move toward more quality (higher spending) tourists while trying not to completely forget the nightlife and backpacking crowd.
