  1. The wood supplier opposite the bus station on North Road (you are in Pattaya right Tokay?) Have at the back of their shop wood planks 1 1/4" x 11" wide intended for stair treads, been a while but I think I paid 350 baht a meter. I cut routered and fitted them myself. Used construction adhesive and four fixing screws drilled and plugged into the concrete then dowels let in to cover the screws. The treads have since shrunk a little but not warped.

    Have to be certain that the wood is all the same color and grain when you buy it though.

    I seem to think they said they will cut it for you but I did it myself.

    I think it was rough un planed from memory as well.

  2. Pattaya Police Stations send provisions to flood-affected Central Thailand provinces

    PATTAYA: -- Donations of food and other provisions collected by Police Boxes and sub-stations around the Pattaya and Banglamung areas are now on their way to the flood-affected central Thailand provinces, including Nakhon Sawan and Ayutthaya. On Wednesday afternoon hundreds of bottles of drinking water and thousands of packets of dried noodles were packed onto trucks at Banglamung Police Station. They were then taken to the Region 2 Police Headquarters in Chonburi District where larger container trucks are waiting to transport the essential items to the flood-affected areas.

  3. Part-time Thai Customs Official living in Pattaya, caught with drugs

    PATTAYA: -- A part-time Thai Customs Officer, who works at the Laem Chabang port, has been arrested by Banglamung Police on a charge of possessing class 1 drugs. Following the arrest of other suspected drug users, information on the customs official was forthcoming. Khun Ladchai aged 34 was arrested at the Kumsab Apartments in the Lompok area of Banglamung and was found to be carrying 8 Yabba Tablets. He was also carrying two forms of identification confirming his position as a part-time customs official. At the Police Station Khun Ladchai confessed to using the drugs but denied initial claims made by Police that he also sold drugs,

  4. Future of tourism in Pattaya discussed at City Hall meeting

    PATTAYA: --A meeting to discuss the future of tourism in Pattaya was held at Pattaya City Hall on Wednesday involving City Hall officials, the Tourist Police and a selection of travel operators. As we approach high season here in Pattaya, delegates expect Russian Tourist numbers to reach an all-time high this year with further increases for next year. Tourists from India and China are also expected to increase. Delegates discussed a standard price structure for local tourist attractions as dual pricing for Thai and foreign nationals angers many tourists who feel this pricing policy is unfair.

  5. Larn Island official “relocated” due to land concession scandal

    PATTAYA: --A meeting to discuss problems with land concessions on Larn Island took place at Pattaya City Hall on Wednesday. A 320 Rai piece of land which has been cleared for development is at the center of protests by residents of Larn Island, located 4km off the coast of Pattaya. They say that the land should be returned to the public and the person who authorized the land concessions should be fired. Khun Itipon, the Mayor of Pattaya told delegates that protesters had 4 demands: 1. All land concessions should be cancelled with immediate effect 2. Khun Sutum, the Deputy Bailiff of Larn Island should be removed from the position with immediate effect. 3. The land should be returned to public ownership with immediate effect. 4. All future concessions on the Island should be considered at Public meetings.

  6. Oman Tourist found dead in front of his South Pattaya Hotel

    PATTAYA: -- A tourist from Oman was found to have died early on Tuesday, in front of his Hotel located off Walking Street. Police and Rescue Services were called to the front of the Marine Casa Hotel located only meters away from the street inside a beer bar complex. Mr. Badar Salim Rashid Al Damarki aged 36 had checked into the Hotel on 8th October and staff reported seeing him drink heavily every night. On Monday Morning he was unable to go to his room and was left on a chair outside the Hotel with a cold towel over his forehead. Later in the morning a cleaner checked Mr. Al Damarki who was found to have passed away.

  7. Woman’s Corpse With Hands & Feet Tied Found in Chonburi

    CHONBURI: -- Frightened locals in Sriratcha found a woman's corpse with hands and feet tied near the Bangphra reservoir. Police assumes the woman was murdered because of loan sharking, a love affair or drugs.

    Bangphra October 10, 2011 [PDN] Pol. Lt. Col. Chinchot Rattananarm, Sriracha police, Chonburi province was notified by the local people that they had found the corpse of woman near the reservoir at Bangphra Moo 4 in the bush opposite Summacheevasillapa school.

    At the scene the police found the corpse of a woman

    age 30-35 dressed in a long sleeve Mickey Mouse shirt and dark green pants. The victims hands and feet was tied with electric wire and she had been severely beaten in the face.The police believes the victim died not less than 5 days ago.

    At the scene the police also found a small blue towel on the ground and wheel traces of a car nearby the corpse. All the evidence has been collected and recorded. However, there were

    no traces of fighting.

    The local people said that during the day many cars pass by the Bangphra reservoir but in the evening there is not much traffic. And they had not seen any head lights or heard any cars drive through that night nor had they heard anyone

  8. Marine Wildlife Project preparation meeting at Pattaya City Hall

    PATTAYA: -- A project to encourage marine life off the coast of Jomtien Beach was discussed at Pattaya City Hall on Tuesday. Khun Ronagit, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya, chaired a preparation meeting to discuss the project which is in its 7th year. At a cost of 1.5 Million Baht , concrete pipes will be placed on the ocean bed approximately 4kms off the coast of Jomtien Beach. The pipes will be placed on the seabed covering an area stretching from Pattaya Park to the Sigma Resort Hotel

  9. Pattaya and Banglamung crime sweep by Police continues

    PATTAYA: -- Banglamung Police have announced the arrest of 12 individuals who were caught as part of coordinated raids around the area as part of a campaign initiated by the Regional Police Commissioner to rid the area of drugs and other illegal activities. Police Colonel Somnook, the Chief of Banglamung Police announced the arrest of 10 men and 2 women, aged between 18 and 57. Three were caught with unregistered firearms and a total of 52 bullets and the others were caught with a total of 624 Yabba Tablets and 21 bags of Crystal Methamphetamine. Police also seized a Toyota Minivan

  10. Pattaya Rescue Foundation flood relief appeal

    PATTAYA: -- Pattaya is coming together to organize donations of food and other provisions for those affected by the floods which have crippled parts of Thailand. One of the local organizations who are making every effort to help is the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation who are based in Banglamung. Thanks to donations from members of the public, trucks full of provisions are currently making their way to the worst affected areas in Ayutthaya Province, following recent trips already made to Lopburi and Oothai Province.

  11. Glue Sniffer shot dead in broad daylight in North Pattaya

    PATTAYA: -- A 34 year old man was shot dead in broad daylight on Monday afternoon in a street in Naklua. Police and Rescue Services were called to Soi 14 off the Naklua Road where they were met with a crowd of people surrounding the body of Khun Chairat aged 34. A gun-shot wound to his shoulder was seen and inside his trouser pocket was a plastic bag containing a solvent solution which was also found in a small bottle hidden inside his trousers. There were no witnesses to the shooting and moments later the victim’s mother, Khun Amporn aged 60, arrived and confirmed her son had been sniffing glue for at least 10 years and would wander the streets during the day.

  12. Transsexual caught-on-camera attempting to steal luxury vehicle in Jomtien

    PATTAYA:-- A transsexual was accused of attempting to steal a vehicle belonging to the owner of a Guest House in Jomtien, in the early hours of Monday. The incident occurred in Soi Welcome off Jomtien beach and was also caught on security cameras fitted to the vehicle and to the outside of the guest house. Thanks to the daughter of the owner, members of the public assisted in detaining Khun Worapon aged 18 who was first seen to enter the guest house and take a set of keys belonging to the guest house owner, Khun Tipawan aged 43. The suspect was then seen to enter the vehicle and at this point, he was detained. At the Police Station the suspect claimed he was unable to drive a car but could not explain why he was inside it with the keys in the ignition.

  13. Museum and 4D Theater destroyed in 10 Million Baht Central Pattaya fire

    PATTAYA: -- A museum which was only 4 days away from opening was destroyed by fire late on Sunday Night. The Museum which featured a 4D, 360 degree theatre area was due to open on 14th October. An electrical short circuit in audio and visual equipment stored in the roof area is thought to have caused the blaze which caused the roof to buckle and there were fears of a complete collapse of the building at one-point which were later allayed. The building was constructed earlier this year at a cost of 100 Million Baht.

  14. Woman shoots herself in the head at her boyfriend’s south Pattaya home

    PATTAYA: -- A 27 year old woman appears to have shot herself in the head in her boyfriend’s home in Soi Watboonsampan in South Pattaya over the weekend. Khun Winai aged 22 returned home to find Khun Ganyarat on the bedroom floor. She was lying in a pool of blood with a gun on the floor next to her. Police examined the body and found a gunshot wound on her forehead. Khun Winai explained they both worked at Central Festival Pattaya Beach and he became concerned that Khun Ganyarat failed to appear for work in the afternoon. He revealed she was having problems relating to a previous relationship, her family and work issues. It is thought the stress caused by her mounting problems led to the suicide.

  15. Sriracha Drug Lord Caught With One Kilo “Ya-Ice” & Heavy Guns

    SRIRACHA: -- Sriracha police arrested “Ton Nokhong” carrying one kilogram of crystal methamphetamine and 4,000 amphetamine tablets and a stash heavy weapons. The suspect is a well known drug lord on the Eastern Seabord, Sriracha area.

    Sriracha, October 7, 2011[PDN]; Pol. Col. Montri Rodpranee, Superintendent, Sriracha police reported that two suspected drug dealers had been arrested: Mr. Payoongsak or “Dam” alias “Ton Nokhong” age 32, address: 117 Moo 9 Tambon Surasak, Chonburi province.

    “Ton Nokthong” was caught in possession of “ya-ice” 997.85 grams and 4,000 amphetamine tablets, two M3 sub-machine guns; 50 units of cartridges, a Ruger pistol caliber .22 with 120 cartridges and a 9 mm pistol plus ammunition.

  16. Heavy Rains Batter Sattahip – Flash Floods Cause Traffic Jams

    SATTAHIP: -- Heavy non-stop downpours lasting four hours were repored on the Eastern Seabord of Sattahip causing flooding in many areas and massive traffic jams on Sukhumvit highway.

    Sattahip, October 7, 2011[PDN]; Since Friday afternoon Sattahip area, Chonburi province was battered by continous heavy rains lasting more than four hours and causing a massive traffic jams on Sukhumvit highway, Sattahip-Rayong sector. A five kilometer long traffic jam resulted from the high water level blocking the left lane. This was due to the falling water from the hills and mountains which could not be releases into the sea on time. The officers and staff of the emergency relief agency in Sattahip provided heavy duty water pumps to release the water masses.

    SATTAHIP: -- Deputy of superintendent of Sattahip municipality issues a jellyfish warning for Sattahip Bay since more than a million jellyfish were reported in the sea. Tourists swimming in the sea should be careful . Jellyfish can produce a painful and poisonous sting.

  18. Parts of North Pattaya still underwater as the flood crisis continues

    PATTAYA: -- Flood water continues to cause havoc in some parts of Pattaya where residents are urging the local government to step-up their efforts and help them overcome this continuing crisis. Parts of the North Pattaya and Naklua area are still under water and the fear now is that the dirty water could cause health problems. On Saturday Morning parts of the main Sukhumvit Road in North Pattaya and many of the side streets in the area were impassable.
