  1. I took my 15 yr old son to the uK without his Mum. I tend to play safe rather than be sorry so I got an official letter from the town hall place where he is registered. It s a standard letter and costs 1000bt  - Mum needs to be there as well i believe. I also took his birth certs with my name as Father and got an informal letter from my wife giving her permission with her ID details on it.

My sons first Thai and UK passport, first time using them so was expecting to be stopped and asked. But nothing- we waltzed merrily through security with no problems or questions.

  2. I had a double hernia operation using a mesh at a government hospital in Bangkok. I was in for 2 nights, it cost 29 000 bt and used a mesh. Not a wonderful experience as i was in a ward but not too bad really. I have the scars but again, not too bad. i recovered well enough and was back at work in a week, albeit, walking a bit slower.

If i required another surgery , i would consult the same hospital.

Thanks, that is exactly the kind of answer I was looking for.

Can I ask which booking service you used?

Booking.com - I think they gave incorrect details (date of birth) to the airline so i couldnt check in initially online.

etihad help line sorted it. I arrived early at the airport just in case of problems and got bumped to an earlier flight. They were very helpful.

  4. Flew to Heathrow from Bangkok with my son recently for a two week holiday to see family and friends. I had some initial problems when using the E – check in service. The website would not take my sons details and after ringing the Etihad helpline they found it to be a problem with the booking service I had used and they sorted it.

I really have no complaints. All was good. Im a tall bas***d and worried about leg room in economy. But it was quite spacious. In flight entertainment was good – I watched “The whale” and the “Elvis” movies. Food was – well – airline food. But it wasn’t too bad. I also asked for a good few drinks and was given, no problem.

All in all, it was a good first flight for my son. He had a fantastic time. I would cheerfully use them again.

I make my own with a few shots of fresh espresso from the machine, and then add in the mint flavoring as well as some fresh half cream.  Adding some grated chocolate and a sprig of mint to the top with a little whipped cream.....a nice desert drink, but way to much damned sugar if you buy it at a coffee shop.

    whisky??   ????

  6. i dont know, look tot he positives. You found friends when you were in need and have a story that youll laugh about in the future over a glass or two - maybe with said friends.
