No neighbors with lush gardens and the water pump was unplugged, although the valve at the meter has been open. Only my wife has been in the house for a couple of weeks during the last 2.5 month but even with both of us in the house we have never had a bill exceeding 100 Baht in the 10 years we have been living in here.

Had a look at the meter and even though there was hardly any water entering the water tank the meter still spun at a rapid pace. I closed the valve and that stopped it. Will call the PWA tomorrow.

Even if it turns out to be a faulty meter I foresee an uphill battle in trying to get my money back:saai:

If closing the valve stopped the meter from spinning, obviously there is a huge leak. I would guess a burst pipe somewhere under the house.

  2. Really?? I entered through Don Muang just a few weeks ago and I am not kidding I had to wait in the immigration Que for more than an hour. All counters (around 10 - 15 of them I think) where open that I could see. I arrived in late afternoon and the place was absolutely packed with people. My Wife and Daughter went through the Thai passport counters and it took less than a minute, she then had to wait for me for another hour.

It seems it depends on what time of the day you arrive.

Now just where did I state ''go home?''

I did state that  if it was  a non national living in your country,  no doubt you would expect them to assimilate into your culture and  accept its norms. I did not suggest nor imply that you or anyone else for that matter should ''go home'' to whence you came from.

I think you fail to understand the difference between cultural differences and something that is simply wrong/abnormal/un-ethical/immoral....

For example if a culture just to take an example; the Azteks, are offering their virgin children to the gods by slaughtering them on a table and ripping their guts out, reading the future in the entrails... I would definitely call that wrong, even if it is a part of their culture. Some things are wrong wherever it is being done or under what "cultural umbrella" it's done.

  4. the remaining 20% will certainly reveal that the police truck going around her house was in fact a Burmese truck hired by a couple of Rohingya, made up to look like a police truck.

A accordion playing raccoon has also been implicated in the plot and now there is ample evidence that in fact this raccoon is member of the red shirts.

meanwhile police would investigate the possibility that the Lady has in fact left the country.....

  5. Try tea tree oil.

Another thing you could try; Every morning and evening, cut a lemon in half and squeeze the lemon onto your skin where you have a problem.

You can buy Tea tree oil at Chemipan (google it) local supplier.

If the remainder of the planned tunnels are built then it will help massively with traffic congestion. one single tunnel does nothing though.

How does it help traffic? The island on top of the tunnel is unused? I mean the space taken by the tunnel is the same space taken by the previous five lanes of road surface?

  8. For once, I think those tunnels are pretty nice, good job. Only question is why did it have to take so bloody long to build just one of them? Second question is; what is it for? There is no apparent benefit from building the tunnels other than having the opportunity to put a shitload of decorative stuff on top of it?

  9. Look out for those boy scouts and girl scouts (in their thirties) showing you their photo album from the last Jamboree, asking for money to finance the next one......They are all from Singapore too......

If every "farang" posted on facebook everytime someone tried to scam them here in Thailand, I think facebook would collapse under the burden......

I'd suggest more research rather than just dig up this old lie. All sides were giving assistance in the form of an allowance for travel etc.  Is it good?  NO  but ALL did it and hopefully it will stop.  I know of people who took the allowance and voted how they wanted anyway, no one looking over their shoulder so it made ZERO difference. Can we move on now as this is about Thaksins apt Twitter feed?

I did not In any way suggest the 500 baht had any effect on the outcome of the election. In fact There has never been any evidence that bribing the citizens to vote in any way has affected the outcome of any election. However as all my wives relatives say, they have all been offered money to vote at one time or other, and they all live in Bangkok.

The point of my post is not about the 500 Baht, but I was lamenting over the corruption.
