  1. Has anyone tried this? Will it grow in this region? Is it a viable cash crop? I'm thinking of buying some more land here someday. Teak would appeal to me because, other than watering, and a little TLC for the first year or three, it'd be something you could basically plant and forget for a few years, and the price of teak will only climb during this time. I've got other plans for some of the land, and I've only just started researching this, but does anyone have any comments?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. I can't help you with finding your stuff but your post reminded me of a story I once heard.  During prohibition in the US (all alcohol was illegal during that period) a company made a brick of dried fruit material, sugar, and yeast.  It contained a warning on the label that said something like this: "Caution!!! do not place this brick in a 5 gallong container and add water until full and then wait because you may produce wine which is an alcoholic beverage and is illegal."

I can't think of a better example of why it's good to "read the directions"

  3. I live in the Khon Kaen area and was wondering if anyone knew of anywhere in Thailand where I could aquire some basic wine making gear i.e., yeasts, carboys (large (25-30 liter) clear glass bottles that you can put a stopper in on top), sterilizers, primary fermenters ( basically a large garbage can with a snap on lid made from food grade plastic ), corks, corking machine, etc. I don't require the wine making kits or grape juice as I plan to make wine from fruit.

I'm aware you need a permit to make wine in Thailand.

Thanks in advance for any help given.
