  1. Sounds like the Bib knew something more to me. 26 year old Russian, attractive woman, no job and extended stays in Thailand and other close by Countries. Anybody have a guess as to how she might be supporting herself. I didn't see anybody even pose that as a possibility. I don't know the woman and don't want to defame her but come on!!! Thailand is her home base and she meets clients in Phuket. I am just saying.....

  2. I have mentioned this before. I have my pension go to an account at the First Republic Bank of NY. You have to keep a $3,000 balance in the account but you can withdraw money from ANY ATM in ANY country and whatever the ATM fee that is charged gets credited back to your account at the end of the month. Not many banks offer this FULL reimbursement. I have a Kasikorn account here and withdraw money via ATM and then at the same time deposit it into my K account. NO FEE charged to me.

  3. <deleted>??? What do you think she is thinking you are trying to do? What a nice, hansom(your spelling), troll. What is your name? Remind me so that if I ever run into you I don't make you my friend. You will be asking this forum about that. Hey guys what do you think? This yank met me and started talking and he even bought me a beer. What do you think? You think he wants to rob me? You think he a tosser? Why was he talking to me??? Maybe he is gay and thinks I am?

Did you ever think the person may have NO ulterior motives? You have many friends? Didn't think so.

  4. Don't just give it. I got married to my wife and they wanted 100K. I did want to participate and came up with the 100K but, her mom got an envelope with 40K, the father got an envelope with 20K and 40K was displayed that was given back to me. The mother told the wife what to put in each envelope. I did not buy any gold either. But, I did pay for a cow and 3 pigs along with about 30 cases of beer and whiskey. We had people drinking and eating for 3 straight days. Instead of cake to take home many people got a bag of pig guts and cow innerds. Still amazes me. I would have paid 10K US dollars for a wedding in the states. This cost me a few thousand US dollars, the wife was beautiful, the mom and dad, very happy, the villagers very happy and me? VERY HAPPY with my wife. Now married 4 years and still the best.

  5. Not sure about technicians but I have to say I have a different perspective on some Thai workers from at least two companies in N.East Thailand and witnessed the evidence. The companies are Home Pro and Watsadu. I just purchased a house in a gated community in Udon Thani and purchased items like 3 Aircons, refrig, washing machine, beds and dressers for 3 bedrooms, furniture, dining table and other items. The store said they would be there at 10 am and right at 10 am on the day stated they arrived. They had a crew of up to 6 people at one point. Installed the aircons and did a magnificent job, drilled holes, ran conduit and cleaned all of their mess. I never had to say anything. The 3 aircons took quite a while. The manager himself arrived at my house without being called to see the progress. Upon his arrival he noticed the size of my master bedroom and suggested that the room was bigger than I described and asked if I wanted to get a slightly bigger aircon for that room. He was actually right, I told him I wanted the bigger one and he arranged for the pickup of the old and smaller one and had the bigger one delivered again. All worked perfectly and were done to a high standard.

Next they started on building the dressers, cabinets, bed frames, coffee tables, dining table and chairs, etc. It was now near to 9 pm. I asked them how long they were going to stay there. They said they had to finish everything before leaving. They then said that another crew was on the way to assist them. When the new crew arrived they installed the washing machine and refrig. I am from the US and I never had a crew of employees who had the same work ethic as these guys did. Seriously, I was shocked. I know the Thai worker in general but these guys were very good.

I know it may shock some of you but they actually did a great job and I was there all day and all night until they finished at about 10:30 or so. I was tired just from sitting there waiting for them to finish. Ohhhh and they cleaned all of the boxes, plastic and other debris from my yard. Unbelievable.

  6. If you are from the US contact First Republic Bank in NYC. They have a website and phone numbers to contact. If you keep $3500 in the bank they will reimburse ALL ATM fees at the end of the month. I use them and can transfer money from my Wells Fargo Acct to FRB for nothing in the US and then can access any ATM at ANY Thai ATM or for that matter anywhere in the world and have the ATM charge refunded.

ATMs in Thailand give you Baht.

  7. SWIFT is an international Bank Transfer system. I have used it many times from the US to Thailand. They always charged me a fee from my Wells Fargo Bank acct. Not economical for small transactions.

As one of the other members said I have a Vanguard account and they have sent money from my account in the US to my bank account here in Thailand but it had to be in my exact same name. No charge for that.

For anyone in the US I have found at least one bank, First Republic Bank of NY, that refunds any ATM fees at the end of each month for any out of country withdrawals. You must maintain a $3500 balance to get this service. When you take money here at an ATM you get charged for the withdrawal but when you check your bank statement at the end of the month they deposit those fees back into your account.

The good thing was I never physically went to this bank. I contacted them by phone and email and the account was set up. Sent the money to them in a check, signed some forms online and scanned them and sent them back. I have been with them since April 2013 and never have an ATM fee. I don't care what ATM Bank I take my money from now as whatever it is I get it back.

A little off topic but good info for anyone from the US who uses an ATM machine here.

  8. yourauntbob beat me to it! I have been living in LOS since April 2013. Arranged all mail to go to my sister, changed all credit cards, bank statements, mortgage statements, health care to be sent ONLINE. No paper. You will be saving the earth to boot! I have a house back there and rent it out, do business with a management company and they take care of all rents, issues, problems, late payments (if any) and send you a 1099 at the end of the year. Filed my taxes online and e-signed.

They can't make it any easier than that. If its a problem....then you really don't want to live here.

  9. You can't afford the hospital? I recently had a problem with my "titanium" hip. Went to Emergency room because I could not walk, got X-ray, saw doc, gave me a needle in my hip, got script for pain killers with codeine, they told me to take a wheelchair and bring it back when finished.....this was in Pattaya a year ago and received a bill for 3,100 baht just about $100. Are you kidding me that you can't afford to see a doctor and get it right??? You should go to Pattaya-Bangkok Hospital immediately.

  10. Had an incident in BKK with a former GF. Arrived in Bkk a few days early, without telling her. Hooked up with another girl and was coming out of the Bier Garden on Soi 7 at about 10 pm. Hailed a taxi, inside the taxi was my GF and another of her Thai friends. What bad luck! She was very small and petite. Started to swing at me, kick me, ripped my shirt, bit me, scratched my neck and chest and I was just trying to fend off the blows. She continued to cry and was out of control. Got her to come back to my hotel to calm down. BAD IDEA!! She ranted again and grabbed for a knife on the counter. NOW I had to be a bit more physical and forced her to drop the knife and put her out of the room and called security. Scared the beJesus out of me. NEVER saw her again. THE PISSED OFF THAI WOMAN IS CAPABLE OF GREAT FEATS OF STRENGTH. Trust me. All that said. Sorry for the Ukranian guy. RIP.

Jumped off the balcony????? I don't think so.

  11. On a recent return to LOS I flew on JAL from Narita. I did not have a return ticket. The clerk called a supervisor and they asked me how long I was staying. I told them I am going to live there, but had no Visa. They told me the rules about an onward ticket. The supervisor then pulled me to the side and said if they ask at immigration tell them you are staying 2 or 3 weeks but did not get a return yet. They never asked upon entry.

  12. I can't believe some of these answers. It sounds like you have a "worm" or some other type of "bug". Do you have a good anti-virus program like KASPERSKY or something else. Kaspersky is a Russian former hacker who turned something bad into a profit maker. Pure 3 covers everything and cost $69 for a year for 1-3 computers. Another help is a company called GuruAid. Google them. They have a service that costs $159 for a year but they will find out what is wrong with your computer and fix it remotely. I doubt seriously that you need to get a new computer. You also probably have too many programs running and don't know it.

    Good luck.
