  1. As far as I am now aware external GPU's can only be attached to a working machine as 'code' has to be inserted in 'terminal' so it reconises the external GPU. In my case internal GPU not working, so cannot just plug in an external GPU and hope it works it won't.

    But back to my original question can you mix D300 with D500 (A & B) or (B & A) ..... NO

IT-House in Pantip Plaza (1) Patunam. will renovate/restore AMD D300 or D500 graphics cards for about 12,000 Baht each. You can courier the cards only or the whole computer to him.

  2. July 2020 update - Woodtichai Uooncamme is still at IT House 604/3 Pantip Plaza Building. [email protected] - His Engish is very good. If you are going there by taxi clearly state to driver 'Pantip Plaza (1), Patunam' because they will take unsuspecting visitors to Pantip Plaza 2, a long way out at Nontaburi. I think they do it to avoid the Petchaburi Road, trafic jams. If you think driver is deviating from route, stop-pay-get out-get another taxi. Pantip Plaza, is now only a shadow of its former self, they have cleaned up most of thoes good computer junk shops. Trying to get a bit upmarket.

  3. Mac Pro 6.1 (2013) This computer has 2 Graphics cards or boards know as A & B - What I want to know is can one be upgraded without upgrading the other - or - Are A & B a matching pairs like the Mac Pro Memory. Also if anyone else in Pattaya June/July 2020 who has spare parts for this machine Please let me know. At the moment mine is down, also if you have any combination of a Mac Pro 2013 you would like to sell (working or not) at a resonable S/H price let me know.

  4. I have just returned from Vientiane Laos, trying to get a double entry Tourist visa, handed in application at the counter, and lady without consulting any data told me I was working in Thailand. I told her I was not and did not need to, as I get an Australian and a British Pensions. She studied my British Passport and said "You have 4 entries into Thailand on tourist visas, you are only allowed 4. I will give you a single entry tourist visa don't come back to this Embassy". When I got in the mini van of the group I travelled with all except 1 was rejected double entry Tourist visas, on the basis the were working. But in fact the only one in the group who was given a double entry tourist visa is the only one who is working unofficially. The female immigration officer in uniform at the counter was very rude to all my group, although we had gone to the counter individually and at different times. I only needed one more double entry visa, as I will be leaving Thailand for good in the middle of March 2011. If one follows her logic literally you can only enter Thailand 4 times on Tourist visas. On a 10 year passport that is 1 entry to 2 1/2 years. Ridicules.

  6. I would say when the new blank Passport is taken to Thai immigration Office they have on their computer until when the lost visa is valid to or the leave by date. I think they would check because you could be pulling "a fast one" as the visa could have expired years ago, and you now wanted to leave Thailand, having conveniently lost the old visa and Passport.

On the other hand they may automatically just give a stamp for 7 days to leave Thailand and re-enter with a valid visa.

Their must be a procedure as Passports with the visas are legitimately lost every day. Luckily in all my years of travel I have only lost a Passport in my home country.

  7. UKMatt. You could immediatly cross a border to, say Laos or Cambodia. Remember you still have an unused valid visa, then re-enter using the original visa, if the "enter before/valid until" date has not passed. But this way you will be up for 500 Baht per day for your overstays. I think it to a max of 20,000 Baht. But if its to many overstays days, you dont get back in (even if you have a unused visa), as happened to my friend at the Poipet/Aranyapethet border.

Remember even if you are only 1 day overstay, and you are stopped for ID/passport check before the border, you could be detained, as you are in Thailand without a valid visa. In this case the fine is 40,000 Baht detained until paid.

  8. I've finally topped out the 250gig HD, and am going to start looking for a 1TB drive to replace it - at least, I hope it will replace it. 500 gig would still be an improvement, as I want to start loading my DVDs onto it.

I purchased a S/H MacBook Pro, it had a 160GB HD quickly changed to a 500GB ""SATA" (serial ATA) HD" at Tuckcom in Pattaya 500 "SATA" was largest avalible 2 months ago (March 2010).

  9. "Have recently acquired a 2nd hand 'Apple-Mac Word Pro' Laptop and have discovered"

Do you mean Apple "MacBook Pro" if so I can help you if you are in Pattaya

however if you mean "Lotus Word Pro" sorry cannot help. I use Apple Word Processing Apple Works, quite easy to use.

  10. Suphan Lake Hometel. Bangkok Hotel near Suvarnahbumi airport.

This is a very quite hotel next to a park with a lake. Many locals jog around the lake from 6am in the morning. Sorry fishing is not permitted in the lake!

The hotel is a 3 floor 36 room hotel, air con, shower, TV, Wireless Internet.

Call Danny on 081 697 5085 for room price. Danny speaks very good English. He can arrange for you to be picked up at the airport, also to drop you of at the airport in time to catch your outward plane. Danny will also advice you with your air travel arrangements. also any visas that are required.

    email: [email protected]

  11. I think your post is a repeat of an old post. I am stating the obvious in that once the passport expires you can renew it.

But if you are in Thailand and your passport expires, any visa is no longer valid, and you are in Thailand without a valid passport. You would be detained until the matter is cleared up, no matter where you are, even at airport departures.

10 years starts from the date of passport issue, although mine is 11 years and a few days, it may be they are trying to round up the dates.

I got my passport at British embassy Bangkok, I think it took about a week.

Take old and new passports to Thai immigration and they transfer Thai visa from old to new passport free of charge.

  12. from "The Nation" today Sun 23rd May

We had taken a taxi to Patpong. Soldiers inspected each vehicle passing by. We started late in the morning. Although it was daytime, one could see instantly that it was different than normal days there.

Although Patpong is a popular area among foreigners, only a few were eating at a restaurant there. Amid the quiet atmosphere, guests and waitresses at the restaurant were tense or on the alert. They exchanged strange looks, watching every time somebody entered the restaurant or walked past each table.

A few foreigners hung out at a beverage shop nearby.

An ATM machine in front of a Foodland outlet had run out of cash. An officer at the bank told the shop manager it was too dangerous to transport more cash to fill the machine up again.

  13. On a double entry Tourist visa, after using the first part (60 days) you can get an extension of 30 days (1,900 Baht) without leaving the country. At the end of this 30 days you must leave the country. But to activate the second part you must re-enter the country, at a border post, before "Enter Before --th ------ 2010" (note: not on that date, common mistake "before" that date) you can then use the second part (60 days) and have another 30 day extension without leaving the country. Then you need another visa obtained from outside of Thailand. (if this is done correctly this gives you 6 months, with a one day trip to Cambodia and back).

  14. I don't know for sure, but I think Walking Street must have closed early Wed night, As I went for my early morning walk (Thursday) every where was deserted, even at 6am there are still stragglers and "Ladies" normally left over, from the night before, but today nothing even the 7-11 was closed.

  15. I would not touch them with a barge pole, unless the Thai Police could show some effort in cleaning themselves up first. example! Big arrest here in Pattaya even on TV, But everything was forgiven with a 300,000 Baht tip. And that is with a nice new clean police chief.
