Please provide me with evidence of all whole meat being injected with preservatives and fillers? Beef product in the US is certainly known to contain excesses of growth promoting chemicals of various kinds which is why many many countries ban the import of it. Processed meat products in many places also because they are commercial byproduct but which would not be dissimilar to this tvp type of thing.
And long term a vegetarian and more so a vegan diet has been repeatedly shown to NOT be optimal because it leads to a lack of many essential components not found in plant based proteins.
Personally I would rather trust unadulterated genuine meat than some look alike, taste alike chemically altered and contaminated plasticized vegetable burger patty. I actually have not eaten any burger of any brand for over 35 years or any reconstituted meat product knowing what it is also likely to contain.
Ok, so this article is generic, but it explains what processing is done and why. But as it's from PETA some people may take issue with it, so my suggestion is read and then search more to verify their claims
https://www.peta.org/living/food/meat-contamination/
And your supposed studies that show vegetarian or vegan diets to not be nutritionally adequate sound like an anecdote.
The academy of nutrition and dietetics is just one of many dietetic associations around the world to provide peer reviewed studies indicating that well planned vegan diets are nutrionally adequate for all stages of life

Too much chemicals in meat? 99% of all veg sold here has been sprayed, and sprayed many times with chemicals.
So that makes your comment crazy.
Not all Colin. And meat is injected with preservatives and fillers before being packaged.
Intensively farmed cattle are injected with growth hormones, antibiotics to fight infection, and other supplements including b12.
Meat is an absolutely abominable food stuff, and it is absolutely unnecessary for our health or optimal performance.
Plants and whole foods are superior in every conceivable way.

I understand the wish to slaughter less animals, not sure how a farting cow is more detrimental to the planet than a diesel or petrol engine, but I'm rather lost as to why people cannot just rustle up oven baked/barbque vegetables, a veggie soup, or a vegetable curry. Maybe open tin of beans!! This type of food appears to be heading in the direction of eating flavoured cardboard.
Methane production. Methane is a much more potent greenhouse gas than C02 (23 x more potent at point of release).
And when you factor in the enormous numbers of cows, pigs, and sheep who all produce gases and astronomical amounts of faeces that isn't processed like the human equivalents are

Make up your minds people please. Personally, I tend to go with 2 standards, the cruelty invoved in preparation, and the emotional intelligence of the animal involved.
Whole foods plant based diet, hands down the best diet out there. No gimmicks.
The burgers mentioned in the headline are likely to taste good, but down to their high level of processing, should not be eaten regularly.
The carnivore diet is a joke. Way too much cholestorol and animal fat that basically poisons the body.
The nutrient density that meat is known for giving can be matched by other whole food sources.
Intelligence is a terrible parameter to use for if something should be eaten.
And as humane slaughter is an oxymoron, and does simply not exist anywhere in nature or elsewhere, definitely best to leave all animals well alone, and the disgusting industries who annahilate huge numbers of them to rot or change their M.O

Yeah, but why do animals have to bear the brunt of human supremacy, greed, and destruction.
We are tasked with providing a liveable planet not just for humans.
That's the point. We've earned our destruction. The animals have done no such thing

There really is no hope for our pathetic species. Whether it's humans polluting at will here in Thailand, or plundering natural resources wherever they occur, or eating our way to extinction with ghastly food choices becoming the "go to" rather than a little treat.
We are the generation tasked with saving the planet, and yet it's being annahilated at a faster pace than ever.
There is literally no consideration from those running the show in any country about reining consumption in.
These delivery apps are creating vastly more harm than good.
Dreadful ????

No doubt the zealots will be out soon berating people who are just out to make a living because they NEED to.
Probably the same people who have the "stay home - save lives" banner on their social media profiles, but who continue to support the meat industries who've caused practically every pandemic and zoonotic disease outbreak in 100 years.
Let's be realistic, quite a few probably will catch a cold, the flu, or even covid in such crowded places. But the thing is that most of these people will never experience the more serious symptoms, and an even smaller proportion may die.
If anytbing, this close confinement may help to build natural tolerances / immunity to covid.
Good to see things slowly picking up again.

Harsh and uncalled for. The man named in the article has a disabled kid.
He sounds like a hard working guy who has fallen on severely hard times.
If he was a tuk tuk driver i'd then have a LOT less sympathy

The stupidity is strong on this one. A few committees and no strategic aims to speak of.
I wonder what kind of boneheads will be wheeled out to explain away the steep increases in (already ridiculous) fares in the wake of this pandemic.
What a calamity in the making ????

My partner STILL waiting for confirmation after 6 weeks.
And an even crueller irony is that a huge sum was likely to have been wasted on the software that maximized the wait and agony of those most vulnerable.
I suspect this won't be forgiven or forgotten down the road. What a shame for those at the bottom of the pile here.

It was flagging horribly before covid19 struck tbh.
It is a vibrant city, but needs tourists from all demographics to thrive.
Capitalism itself ruined it. Overpriced rents, exorbitant key monies, and a plethora of uniformed persons with very questionable morals slowly chipped away at a good few people's ability to make a good living for themselves.
Then you add in a very strong baht to the mix, and people simply can't stay as long as before or can't do multiple trips in a year.
And now, those brave enough to stay may soon be reduced to beggars, like many residents already appear to be.
Maybe the city is done and dusted til at least the year's end.

The song "Dream On" comes to mind after reading your post. You can complain all you want, but a Decree and rules with regulations have been made. Warnings have been given on a daily basis, but then some people want to behave like they know what is best for the rest of the world do what they want. I get it, I want to do things that I can not do now, but I do not flout the regulations put forth, nor do I try to take the government to task for what I see as a perceived disenfranchising of people and rights. Maybe you can do it for us, since you seem to understand epidemiology....
I don't care about the restrictions tbh, I obeyed them and was / am happy enough to stay home and make the odd trip to 7/11 or the market.
I am happy enough around my home as there's always plenty to do.
My issue is some of the people calling others irresponsible for not wearing a mask outdoors or even sitting in a public space with their mates for an hour or 2 before going home again.
My 2nd issue is the fact that the government have locked things down but not provided anything financial for those who've been left jobless. My partner hasn't made a baht for almost 2 months, and the govt haven't even acknowledged whether she's eligible for assistance yet.
So back onto the topic at hand. People shouldn't be getting locked up for arbitrary infringements, am sure a stern warning and some advice would have sufficed.
By criminalizing people you're creating new problems on top of existing ones. And by not allowing people to work you're (not you personally) making people more desperate.
The lockdown til June does look like control as confirmed cases are dropping and people do by and large understand their civic duties by now.

Complete overkill. People and authorities have completely lost the plot and all sense of reality this last couple of months.
Sure Covid 19 is a dangerous bug to catch for some. But the risk should be weighted against other necessities for the modern world.
This virus is NOT ebola, the virus by itself doesn't kill by itself ftom what has been reported.
By the authorities becoming so heavy handed they are just creating more problems.
Quite a few on the threads need to get a dose of reality too. Some hilariously OTT posts of late regarding covid19.

I gather you are not talking about plant material highly proccessed either in the lab or in a factory as the issue just like processed cuts of meat is the additives are what will do you harm.
Is it where the vegans are heading with lots of soy based products that require the continued cutting down of more South American native forests, encouraged moreso with idiots like Trump slapping tarriffs on China thereby given market opporunity to South American peasant farmers with their matchetes and matches?
Or perhaps its organic plant food which has no quality standards to trace its authenticity claims and which still allows for plant based sprays that are some of the deadliest in the world to both humans and bees?
Or perhaps you just did not know that there are countries in the world that raise animals in a natural outdoor environment on lands that are unsuitable for cropping?
I guess you might know that even 60 years ago prior heavy food processing practice it was common sensible health knowledge then to have your dinner plate one quarter carbs, half of five different veges and a quarter of meat with the emphasis on one word..."whole". And fruit for desert.
And they say humans are getting more intelligent.
Seriously you need to get educated about plant based diets.
Meat is not necessary for human health or optimal performance. Several dietetic associations around the world list plant based diets as being nutritionally adequate for all stages of life.
And Yale University did a study that concluded that 80% of soy crops grown in South America go to feed livestock which are raised for meat.
Ethics, environment and health are all served better with plant based diets.
All I will say is open your eyes. Meat based protein isn't a sustainable long term option as it is incredibly inefficient to produce.
Harvard University did a comparison across Protein sources. Animal proteins were all ranked as more inefficient to produce than whole food (unprocessed), plant based sources.

These comments are despicable. Meat is terrible from a health, environmental, and ethical standpoint.
A move to plant based protein is absolutely necessary to stop not only future zoonotic diseases but also the enormous climate change causing emissions that animal agriculture contributes.
Also the pro meat people say that animals are killed using humane slaughter methods.
Humane slaughter is an oxymoron, it's like humane rape or humane assault.
People have a duty to go plant based. It is a VERY small price to pay for a better future for all life forms on earth.

Equivalent to fifteen Sept 11 attacks in US. I will soon need to use my next yardstick, which will be Vietnam war American deaths, 55,000. Any day now at this rate.
Look how many die each year from obesity related illnesses. Dwarfs these numbers.
America's politics are a mess. The pharma industry has made Americans' health as a collective some of the shakiest on earth.
Covid19 is just another agent to pick these eternally unwell people off. It's a shame that most Americans won't see the bigger picture here

Shocking figures, and more than believable given the generally appalling health stats and dietary choices that a higher than average % of the population are said to swear by.
A highly contagious respiratory illness is probably the most accurate description i've seen too.
Let's hope this spurs them to change some pretty terrible collective habits going forward.

A vile, repulsive and inherently cruel industry. They should get nothing.
Donate eggs to the needy if oversupply is a problem.
Animal agriculture is a chief cause of zoonotic diseases. How many avian influenza strains do we need to be exposed to before people get the message I wonder.

Good observations and suggestions. But nothing will change unless those pulling the strings (waaaay above Pinocchio) allow for any concessions.
They'll just open stuff up again and pay lip service to the problem. An already fearful population will do what they can to make a living from behind masks. It's just how much blundering they'll take when they realise the country's economy is devastated, and change is never going to be forthcoming.
Interesting times ahead.

Oh so predictable. Several institutions are grossly over budgeted for in relation to their actual usefulness to the country.
To basically give a fur Q to the neediest when they are at their most helpless deserves rebellion in return.
The people won't forget this, no amount of hollow apologies and propaganda will quell this going forward.

Chonburi: Helpless dog tied up and thrown into klong

Human depravity is just never ending.
Animals are not there to be abused, eaten, exploited, or harmed in any way.
Real penalties need to be put in place for those who intentionally harm animals in this way.
Kudos for the people who did save the dog in this case though
