Whatever he came for I doubt it was a desire to increase his chances of death on the roads.

The average IQ in sub Saharan Africa is about 30 points below European average and there are a disproportionate number of those countries in this list. Is that telling us something about Thailand too?

This hybrid gets 18.8 km/l in 2wd form. What is the consumption of the diesel?
This problem is that most makes don't offer both hybrid and diesel versions. This makes comparisons difficult.
My 3 litre diesel pickup which is not an efficient shape gets 16/17 so that hybrid is quite poor (and real world will be worse than quoted ) . The Times article (which I no longer have) confirmed the CRV hybrid consumption was worse than the diesel

There are more tax incentives to go hybrid in Thailand. The Camry hybrid is just 4 percent excise tax. Fuel economy in much better in them than diesels. I would think the next step for Honda is to put the 192 hp 1.5 into the CRV in its next generation, replacing the 2.4. o did read one report, maybe from Japan, about the 1.5 being put in the hrv. Not sure if we would ever see that here though.
Petrol hybrids are not more economical than diesels unless they are PHEVs where the batteries can be charged from the mains. The write up the new CRV hybrid shows it to be less economical than the diesel option

That is the ridiculous and stupid model policy of Honda for developing countries like Thailand.
I was at the Motor Expo and asked staff at the Honda booth either about smaller 1.5 engines or hybrids for new civic and H-RV.
The answer was they will be too expensive and people won't buy it...
All the customer want is cheap cheap and big cc engines.
Mindset like 20 or 30 years ago.
That is the price of living in a developing country...
By the way, except for the new accord Honda scrapped all hybrid models on the Thai market.
Other manufacturers seem to be doing similar except Toyota for some bigger cars.As I pointed out though, the new 1.5 turbo engine is available on the civic..but why not on the HRV???
Toyota offer the hybrid on the equivalent sized CHR though. I can understand why hybrids not so feasible in Thailand (perhaps more maintenance to teach Thai dealer staff and lower cost of fuel than Europe). Surprised they don’t offer more Diesel engine saloon cars here given they are struggling to sell Diesel engines in Europe and the lower cost of diesel fuel here- they would be ideal for Thailand

The point is why in a department specifically designed to deal with foreigners they can’t find personnel who can converse in the Lingua franca ( p.s. it’s not Thai as Prayut imagines). If much less educated staff working in bars etc in tourist areas can manage it what does that say about Thai officialdom?

Question for those currently receiving a UK pension into the SCB. Are you receiving the annual increases? Or is your pension frozen?
It’s nothing to do with choice of bank. If you live abroad (apart from certain designated countries of which thailand is NOT one) you will not receive annual increments from DWP.

No. You need a letter/ letters from your pension provider(s). Surely not difficult as long as you re telling the truth? Get your pension provider to send you a word document which you can then print off here.
NO YOU DON'T. It even tells you on their website that a bank statement is all that’s required...and this works in practice from 3 other sources of information apart from mine. Please stop just saying what you think MIGHT be the case.

I thought that the 5-Door (Hatchback) with the 1.5Ltr Turbo can out in March 2017 ...
Not sure when launched and I think the turbo engine was more recently?- I didn’t think that early but never seen one. Thought the hatch would be far more practical and popular.

I’ve noticed a 5 door Civic variant which incorporates the more modern and desirable 1.5 turbo engine rather than the old technology less powerful 1.8. I’ve never seen one on the road or in a dealership and thought this might have a lot of appeal (hatchback). Also interested in the CRV now it has a diesel but it is a puny 1.6 with quite a low power output for such a large suv, why? In uk press the diesel has bombed in Europe and they’re hardly selling any which may explain why it’s now in thailand . 1.7 million baht though. They’ve offered a petrol hybrid CRV to compensate for that poor reception but guess they’ll stick to flogging the engines no one else wants!

Still not on tv here. I usually watch the game later, on this website:
https://www.fullmatchesandshows.com/2018/11/27/lyon-vs-manchester-city-highlights-full-match/#2
Thanks for that as footballorigin seems to be playing up and getting this incomprehensible message right across the video
- although this site seems to be somewhat derivative of the first. ..?
Also a bit flaky with the video stopping frequently and laboriously having to reload from the start and trying to fast forward to the last point. Watching on iPad Safari, and screen mirroring via hdmi lead to big tv, doesn’t seem to have chromecast..? so grateful for any tips you’ve found to improve performance...

I actually agree with you on the above quote, but there are many that don't, which is fair enough.
You’re not 'entitled ' to an opinion, you simply have them. You’re not entitled to express an opinion unchallenged.

When I got my new pickup I had the dealer fit 3M film (essential to go for quality). I had 40% tint all round and there is very little noticeable darkening even at night. With hindsight I could have gone for 60% on the side windows as they recommended without impairment. I think the likes of 3M gives a more worthwhile overall result than the cheapo black out shit you often see.

"Where have all the Chinese gone"?
Well I would say they have gone just the same way as every group of "quality tourists" that come to Pattaya. Once the reality of the place dawns and word gets around they will simply go anywhere else but here.
My other half was asking me similar questions a few years ago when the Russian families all but disappeared for a time. I simply put one question to her and she has never asked again, that question being: Would you like it and what would we do if we were on holiday here in the middle of Pattaya with our daughter?
Ultimately there is little here to interest or accommodate normal families, take away the bars etc, and what would there be to interest anyone? Here is a brief list of what Pattaya does have.
Endless prostitution.
Filthy sea and beaches.
Litter strewn streets.
Constant harassment.
Permanent traffic jams.
Having to walk on roads due to lack of pavements or pavements blocked with vehicles, retailers etc etc.
Nowhere to safely cross busy roads.
It is rife with crime.
It is rife with antisocial behaviour.
It is rife with corruption and dishonesty.
Constant harassment from police if you drive.
They now want to charge first world prices for third world quality and service.
That’s just nitpicking.... ????

why would you want to live there
Because not everyone wants to be a sheep and some of us look for something different in our lives.
You could live on a sewage farm- that would be different. Korat is horrible.

But... but..there are already plenty of barriers...barriers to addressing the real problems, barriers to driver training, barriers to education, barriers to enforcing road safety...add any you feel noteworthy.

It's a policing problem, as in lack thereof! End of story.
So just one dimensional? No consideration for the issues of cultural, educational, driver training shortcomings, corruption, lack of political will/competence, nor road engineering?
Just 'end of' fingers in the ears ,no other views to be listened to or considered.....?

Merc or any other modern car would have crumple zones designed to minimise injuries to pedestrians ,although the laws of physics can’t be ultimately overruled. So significant damage is a sign of that working.

Are you sure no credit advice is generated? You would not know unless you ask. It does not come to you or your branch otherwise, just stays on file at the bank HQ.
As an aside what does this company charge as transfer fee for around US $25?
Sent from my SM-J701F using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
No,I haven’t asked because I’ve not needed it so that could be the case. However I recently registered for online banking and since my post looked at the online statements and rather oddly (and perhaps worryingly) it posts against the deposit 'Domestic Transfer' which it really isn’t. I’m wondering if the transfer from the point I instruct it on the website first goes to another bank within Thailand and thence to my account...but this is not an unusual method with FX transfers. I may have to do further investigations with the bank to clarify this.
World first charges no transfer fees and their rates are around 1/2 baht less per £ than the full interbank rate (so around 1%) which is pretty good. I notice Kasikorn doesn’t credit the full amount in baht that the fx company advises it is sending nor does it indicate a separate deduction fee but the difference amounts to around 0.1% of amount sent, again I understand this is normal with banks here.
I transfer at least £1000 per transaction and don’t think it’s designed for amounts as tiny as $25,if that’s indeed what you meant?
Hope that helps?

All 3 embassy are saying that you can prove you income by transfer the required income of 40k or 65k baht in a Thai bank. But immigration have not confirmed that will be accepted.
Not sure why you would think immigration would double the money in the bank. There is no basis for stating that.
As ever you are the voice of reason amongst the panic and speculation. It’s actually beneficial (and it was very predictable)that more embassies would follow suit because it adds to the momentum and pressure for Immigration to propose a solution and define the parameters. The nuclear option for them is to insist that without income letters (which will I believe in all cases become a thing of the past unless ) only bank deposits are acceptable with all the associated ramifications for many. There is a lot more to be played out in this scenario and there is effectively over 6 months for that to happen.
